I still dont understand why Roland have not issued this as a boutique, 4 note poly, its all there. I have the SH01A boutique which is almost identical to the SH101. But come on Roland issue the 4 as a boutique.
@@newenglisharchitecture1012 yes it does sound like the jp4, I always liked the synth line and sound to seeing out the angel from that album. Back in the early 80s I was lucky enough to get a a shot of the jp4 and jp8 in secondary school, they really did sound superb and I wanted one for Xmas until I saw the price of the jp8 at my music shop.....£3500, in case you where not around then back in 1982 £3500 was a kings ransom. Anyway decade's later I got the next best thing, I bought a S/H system 8 which does produce those sounds that I loved back in the early 80s. That's if you're eye's can withstand the radioactive green LED control panel. LOL
I remember seeing a used one in a music store in the 90s when I was looking to buy some PA speakers. I looked at that thing and thought that it was an ancient relic with no place in a modern studio. Pretty much true, but the software version fixes that.
Ive had all the classic Jupiters but not the 4 and Ive wanted one for 40 years but these days the Jupiter 4 is expensive. A goal of mine is to have a Promars and a Jupiter 4.
It’s insane how much these go for. If it didn’t say Roland and Jupiter 4 on it, no one would be paying anywhere near what people ask for these. Totally overrated machine.
@@Roboami I agree totally, during the early 80's I got to use one in the 8 track studio I was recording in, and it was beautiful what you could do with it.
Excuse me sir you are chronologically incorrect in this video. Maybe you should research the history and the dates a little bit better your mind is slipping.
@@russ254 Agreed. This video was filmed impromptu, in between many other tasks that day. I was a bit rushed and I agree it shows. I was, though, very excited to talk about the J4.. will try to slow it down a bit. Fair warning, an upcoming Korg Mono/Poly video might have the same vibe.. apologies : ) We are just so eager to crank out new videos for you all.
Just wish i had have bought the Jupiter 4 instead of the Polysix, but at the time, we all wanted more polyphony...and it was cheaper. But in hindsight the sound quality of the JP4 was much greater.
Excellent demo! Very nice sounding synthesizer with more diverse sounds than I expected.
Thanks Noel, Yes It has a great voice!
Jupiter 4 is somewhat underrated in the shadow of the other Jupiters. I love the J4!
I rate the Jupiter-4 much higher than the 6 personally.
@@autoy agree :)
Nice demo. Something like this can't be matched by software, there's just way too much going on, it sounds alive.
Just Can't Get Enough
My favorite keyboard

Starting with Duran Duran! Love it!
YESSS... i just HAD to do it.. That album was sooo cool
The sound of the first two Human League albums. The track Dreams Of Leaving is actually arpeggiator preset number 7
Quite the futuristic organ.
I think it was used on Simple Minds sons and fascination album.
And Empires and Dance. The arpeggio in "This Fear of Gods" is pure JP-4....

Don't rely solely on TH-cam demos. Try one for yourself and you'll understand.
