Fixed ! My problem was 2 wires short between ABS module and fuse box ( Top 2 wires on abs module connector, patriot 2011). Low voltage ( 11 and 2 v ). By pass both. Good 12 v reading now. All lights came off. Speedo and 4x4 control came back.

I took your advice and got in that panel I find no corrosion in there but I've trouble shot to the plug underneath the wheel well skirt on the driver side

I know this video is 4 years old, but I have a 14 compass, no warning lights, 4x4 light comes on when switched, but it’s not engaging, only front wheels are spinning. I know they usually run in awd and the switch locks it into a 50/50 split, but now it’s only driving the front wheels. I need some direction, what should I be checking for next?

@The Clay Way. Clay, I did work on my 2010 Patriot a couple days ago. I did re-fix (lol) the relay corrosion issue and took apart 3 grounding pigtails. After all that, I thought that it would be a great idea to scan the jeep I erased all the fault codes after writing them down for reference. I'm not sure which repair did this but at any rate the check engine light (that was showing a fault code with a P0420) isn't on anymore. I was going to contact you on facebook but didn't see anyplace to post it....
Great video Clay, someone gave me a Jeep Patriot because they said the brakes mysteriously fail? It happens to me once under extreme braking but didn't completely fail? The thing did leak from the roof during rain storms through the rear view mirror? So maybe water got into that harness.
Absolutely water is getting in I do have a video on how to clean the drains out of your moonroof but if you open your moonroof just look at the four corners and you will see a little holes make sure that they are not plugged up

Every once and a while the 4WD!-ABS & ESP lights will all come on but that's one of those screwy problems caused by Jeep Engineers. I wondered if the 4WD! problem is under the hood. I did remove the panel inside the door and those pink wires had like 1/4'' thick poly around them like they were dipped into it and then dried, so I guess that area is okay...
Check underneath the fender of the driver side up towards the front down by the The bottom you will find a relay box with a cover on it and I guarantee you there is corrosion inside it.... and I do have video on that It’s also listed underneath my Jeep playlist

What about 2015 Compass is it fairly uncommon for the relay/4x4/issues that would prevent engine cranking. Thanks in advance! I called a few shops and they all say it's not that common i live in NH so plenty of nasty weather.

My mom just purchased a used 2012 Jeep compass and after having it for less than a month she had to replace the starter. That was close to $600. Now her ABS/ 4 wheel drive light is on and I can't get it to turn off. Is this an easy cheap fix bringing back to the mechanic who sold her the car? I know buying used cars is a gamble but she paid $8800 for it and less a month put an additional $600. Shes 69 yrs old and is a widow and I'm her daughter who doesn't know that much about cars so I thought I'd ask someone who would be straight forward and please try to give me an estimate on how much this repair would cost? I feel she gets taken advantage of and she by no means has extra $$ lying around. Thank u in advance if you reply. I appreciate it. Happy New Year!
sorry I have no clue. I would love to help do you know how many code definitions there are? I would have to guess over 10,000. I would be great to memorize them all. And even with the code it doesn’t necessarily tell me exactly what it is you have to go through a flow of diagnostic for that particular code to pinpoint the problem.. unless it just says a particular component then you can check for power blah blah blah
I have a 2016 jeep compass. After getting stuck in snow, abs, traction control and 4wh lights came on. Now it acts as if tires are spinning when they're not. Ramps drop, almost to a stop and grinding from front. Any suggestion would be appreciated .
@@tawnymccullough7919 ended up being a speed control sensor located on the wheel. And had to replace barring. Go to an auto store that will put it on computer to check which wheel is the problem. Happened to another, only 2 more to go for me
I took the kick panel of and found the pink wires. when you did the repair was the wiring all connected to each other? cause mine were twisted together and jumped with another wire to 1 pink wire.

Thanks. Havent got to open up the wires though. I currently have an issue where the 4WD drive indicator pops up with an exclamation randomly. Will taking out the AWD/4WD fuse temporarily fix the issue?
Hey bud I got a 2007 jeep compass and my 4x4 light is on but if I shut the truck off then pull the 4x4 button up it works but if I dont use the 4x4 at all after driving for a few miles the ! 4x4 light comes on and it want engage until I shut off the jeep d turn it back on then it works would you think it's a bad 4x4 switch and would that keep my ! 4x4 light on
hey I just fix this problem on my jeep 11 compass. the horn is under the left head light. which is unprotected, my horn was full of water and wiring got corroded. to get there you have to take the wheel and panel off and you should see it

channel locks etc to take off the nuts under the foot rest. trim panel can be carefully pried off with your hands or you can get a cheap trim panel prybar remover set

Any ideas what would cause a patriot to get locked in 4x4? No lights on the dash and the 4 wheel lock button works (lights up and on the dash) but stays locked in 4x4
Did you ever figure this out? I have the same problem. I don'k think its the wheel speed sensors because the ABS and traction control lights are not on
2011 AWD Jeep Patriot acts like its. binding up in 2 gears, I can pull it forward slowly then it acts like it's trying to lock up, same in reverse, would it be transmission or transfer case
More than likely the transmission since you have a different problem in different gears. Sorry wish I could be More positive but that’s what it sounds like to me
Jesus.. if any of you are having the abs traction control, etc lights coming on at random, do not waste time looking for old wires. Chances are, most of them are old and have some corrosion. Most of you need to replace your wheel bearings in the rear. The longer you wait, the worse it's gonna be. Stop looking for your saving grace on TH-cam and just do it already.

How do see the corrosion in the pink wires? At a connection point, or is the insulation bulged out?

No clean and repair them. Don’t have to replace the whole wire for a small portion that is bad just replace the corroded portions..

Is the horn relay down in the relay box in the front where the fan and A/C fan relay are located ? I have a horn not working problem

You just buy a Roll of wire that is the same gauge and splice them in.
