    Thanks! I am on my second service dog now, my first ever was a senior akita and my first experience with the breed. She changed my life and allowed me to actually function daily. She died six months ago four months after we got an akita puppy to train as her successor. Anaiou my puppy is so amazing smart, curious eager and does miraculous at hospitals with me. But at home shes still very wild and I've never trained a puppy before so its been nerve wracking. I'm on a fixed income and can't afford trainer so your video is a godsend thanks!

    Hello, thank you for this video !
    I have a couple questions ;
    When is it considered too late for a puppy to learn potty training ?
    Also, I live in an apartment and my puppy is 10 weeks old so I can't take her outside at this age to do her business (because I'm told it's not safe for her), so I make her do it in the balcony, but without a specific designated space, so long as it's in the balcony. Once she'll turn 4 months more or less, be vaccinated and able to go outside, won't it be difficult to get her out of the habit of doing it in the balcony ?

    I recently adopted a akita mix at a shelter. He is currently 13 weeks and I’ve had him 4 weeks. Would you recommend the perfect puppy course or the boot camp? I am currently struggling with nipping and biting.
    Thank you!

    Hi Will, ILovelovelove your channel!!! I have followed your training methods from day one but my pup will NOT go outside. He waits till he gets back inside. What am I doing wrong?
    As a first time puppy owner (always fostered or had older dogs) I'm at a bit of a loss.
    He's 13 wks old, will sit, stay, wait, leave and his recall is perfect but he absolutely refuses to do his business outside. please help.

    My akita puppy is 9 weeks old and we have her pretty much potty trained. She rings bells to let us know she needs to go, or will go right to the door, and will not go potty in her crate. However, she will go into another room on the first floor of our home and pee, even though she knows she needs to go outside or was just outside. It's not everytime either. Any advice?

    How do you show your akita that your the leader any tips?

    • @humanpuck2
      @humanpuck2 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Some general tips:
      1) Have the pup sit before going outside and wait for you to release them before they can go out
      2) Walk ahead of your pup when you're walking him/her, don't aggressively pull them back behind you.
      3) Train to sit/stay or lay/stay when preparing food and not let them eat until you release them.
      4) Be an alpha yourself, stand up straight, walk tall, shoulders back and use a deep firm voice.
      All of this can be and should be done with positive reinforcement training. Under no circumstances should you use any sort of heavy handed training approach.
