Hey Jeffery!! I have a friend who owns a sand pit mine in the Catskill mountains. I asked him if I could sample some to see if there was any gold. I followed the sand down to where it met clay. Took some samples of it and sifted through them. Well, I did find gold, small, very small pieces but there was gold in it. I dont think there is enough to make any money, or if I ran a ton through a wash plant. I was happy to find gold anyway. I guess I will keep looking, so Com'on, Lets GOOOO!!!

I appreciated your entertaining lesson on selling one’s gold. I am the widow of a crusty sweetheart of a man who was a professional geologist and for many years traveled to 17 countries prospecting for gold and other minerals as an agent of some well known mining companies. He purchased some fine small nuggets right at the source one time and we have tried selling it for many years without success as the proceeds would have been laughable at the time. But with today’s price per ounce I have renewed interest in trying to sell my small inheritance. My question is how can I make sure that my gold is indeed weighed and redeemed honestly and what is the best method to ship it safely?
thanks and it would depend how big the nuggets are ...if they are over 1 ounce, we say sell them at an auction house ...if under an ounce you can sell them online or to other gold miners
Some coin shops are really good as well. It just depends. So I would suggest a coin shop as well but like Jeff says do your research lol not all shops will buy your gold.
Jeff great vid. I remember 2001 my first cancer. Gold was 200$ an ounce. I needed extra cash. Tony and her husband had gold and silver shop across from university mall in Orem Utah I trusted them. Omg it's been years. Call her hubby up. They oohed and awed then offered 100 an ounce. I sold two ounces. Roger called them from his shop. Said they ripped me off. There was a scandal right after that. They got prosecuted. But your absolutely correct. Even people you trust will rip you off. It's gold. You think it's any different now than it was in 1800s. Your wrong. I never sold gold again.

Back in the '60s we had a neighbor whose family owned a small, scratch ranch in the Sierra foothills. Since hard times were never far off for that family, they had various "enterprises" they would occasionally engage in to make ends meet. The father was jailed for counter-fitting gold specimens. He would melt gold coins and pour the melt over ice. He could then get well above the government price back then. Some buyer who was making jewelry with specimen gold bought some, but had it assayed. The result being that the alloy was recognized as the standard alloy for US gold coins.
@@DonariaRegia Gold from different sources comes with different trace element contamination, alloyed silver, copper, and lead in different amounts.
