I tried to run games with Proton enabled. Followed your steps, but my game won't open after I click Play button. There is no respond. After click Play button, it shows like the program is loading, but then the Play button goes back again. Is there anything I should do? I use Elementary OS Hera, running on AMD Ryzen 7 3700u.
I got a question How do I run winecfg on proton and where is steam proton located at file manager so I can change directory in terminal to run wine commands.
They all worked out of the box for me with proton. However proton still did not enable dx10 for dxvk so Clear Sky and Call of Pripyat can only use dx9 for the time being.
The weird thing is that, with regular Wine and Steam, Stalker runs perfectly, bit not with SteamPlay and proton, on my machine. I'll check back this weekend to see if things have evolved !
It's a fork of Wine, as I understand it, and is funded by Valve, so the best thing you can do is buying games from Linux and playing them on Linux, I guess :)
If you want to go though the hassle and setup wine then all the DXVK games I run so far with wine 7.x run better then via steam using proton I still trying to be vkd3d to work fine in wine with steam still have some problem with that. I may try making a new wine folder and set it up for vkd3d instead of using the same I set up for dxvk.
Sadly, the Linux version of Steam, crashes my computer back to the sign in menu at times, and it is also a problem when I am trying to play games, and this sort of problem happens. Will there be a video in the future to prevent and stop this problem from happening in the future?

Depends on what hardware you are going to install it and what are you going to do in there. For example if you want to run Linux in a potato (low specs laptop or PC) Alpine is a good option, or if you want a server, I personally run Ubuntu Server, or if you want a Linux for daily tasks and normal stuff I use Mint, Mint also runs games quite well.
Sure, but it's a bit more complex, although using Lutris (an easy to install program with tons of install scripts to do the configuration for you) makes it all a breeze.
@@Yukki64_ I just put fightcade on my Linux. I downloaded fightcade windows version. Then downloaded Lutris, the runner I used in Lutris was wine from the list. Located the fightcade exe. And named the name fightcade. Worked flawless on first try.
I think if you're going to play games on Linux go all out and play native games sense there is 6500+ native Linux games that work perfectly out of the box. I do get the point of wine, Lutris and proton its just better to provide support to the developers that actively chose to work on the Linux platform. instead of finding work a rounds.
my question is not in the concept of this video I just got a uefi laptop but my windows is installed on legacy(not an issue) but the issue is when I dual boot with Elementary OS, it doesn't boot up and keeps showing grub rescue prompt, tried all I can, no solution, can u help out?
During the install, was there a checkmark referring to secure boot ? You might have to disable secure boot in the UEFI configuration to be able to start eOS. I had to switch it off on my laptop.
Hmmm, then I'd say grub didn't install in the right spot, you could try to select where each partition is installed while installing eOS, but be careful, ine misstep and the windows partition is gone :/

Unfortunately it doesn't run on my system, but I played the first one back in the day and I really enjoyed it !

That is built in. Proton uses dxvk and that has enough dx3d features.
Windows: Whatever game you're playing, it won't work.

No, sudo apt-get install is for installing a specific package, so you would type "sudo apt-get install steam" for example, to install Steam :)
