Norma Jean was 11 when Jean Harlow passed away. She knew who Jean was and in fact, was one of her early idols very much so. After Jean's passing, Norma Jean set her eyes on stars like Betty Grable. They were in Betty's last good film together, How To Marry A Millionaire from 1953.

Her stand in double there, the one who fainted and was picked up, said Jean was buried in pink. I thought she was buried in the gown she wore from Dinner At Eight...that is what I always heard from another documentary on her. The one I am referring to is the one hosted by Sharon Stone in the 1990s. Very interesting. That house that Jean leased until her death, is right next to Marilyn and Joe Di Maggio's house they had from Jan. 1954 to Oct. 1954. I wonder if Marilyn ever knew that while there. Many of Jean's movies are now being released on HD Blu-ray for the first time by WB. I hope all or most of them get released on this HD format. They look gorgeous now on the 4K TVs. RIP Ms. Harlow.❤

Jean Harlow lived vicariously through her daughter Harlean Carpenter, AKA "Jean Harlow". I do believe she loved her but she also used her for fame and undeserved recognition. It is sad that medical science back then couldn't save "Jean". It seemed like her death was inevitable due to that bout with scarlet fever that she had as a child. She packed a lot of years into her short life and her movies are still entertaining to this day. My favorite movies of hers are BOMBSHELL and RED DUST. Her other films are pretty entertaining too: RED HEADED WOMAN, WIFE VS SECRETARY, HOLD YOUR MAN, LIBELED LADY, and SARATOGA to name a few.

You are absolutely correct. That is Dolores Del Rio, not Joan Crawford. He also gave the Year 1937 earlier in the documentary when it should have been earlier.
In Public Enemy, Jean Harlow is holding James Cagney and says the line --- "The world is full of men, and I've known Dozens of them". Well, I'll leave it up to the imagination what she meant by that line.

I always enjoyed this series but am disappointed at the glaring mistakes in this one. “Joan Crawford” but shows a picture of Dolores Del Rio. While discussing the death of Paul Bern the year was stated as 1937. Paul Bern died in 1932. For a normally classy and usually factual series, how did these goofs make the final cut? Oh well, still had some interesting info.
@@wednesdayschild3627 Jean had stopped dying her hair long before her death. She was no longer white blonde in her last films. Apparently Jean had had Scarlet Fever as a child which can cause weakened kidneys.

I have seen this biography so many times. Jean Harlow died on June 7, 1937. Paul Bern died September 5, 1932, not 1937. I can't believe I never caught that before. BTW, Howard Strickling, Louie B. Mayer, David O. Selznick, and Irving Thalberg should all have been arrested due to them disturbing an active crime scene and trying to alter it to make Harlow look innocent. I don't think she had anything to do with Bern's death but they should have called the cops first before going in there and contaminating the crime scene.
