- It’s been 19 months since my last video, and I barely built anything that hiatus. Part of that was due to school, part of it was life, the usual excuses - but I’m back, and hopefully I won’t disappear for long.
The set ups are shown roughly in the order I built them in, with most of the fails coming from inexperience/rustiness (The clip with neutral-colored dominoes was the first time I filmed anything in over a year). I’m really proud of how the second half of the video turned out once I reestablished my footing, especially the last three clips.
Every set up after the intro screenlink contains a signed domino from a builder I’ve met in person at some point in my domino career. I was always planning on returning eventually, but events like community engagement in chats and Jade Decker’s streams inspired me to put aside a week or two to create something I’d be proud to call my own. There wasn’t a plan for any of the set ups, I just went by the color of the signed domino and built from there. I was going to build clips loosely based off of each builder’s style, but I ended up just going with whatever I felt like near the end. Moving as a community towards clips that are satisfying as an accomplishment for the creator instead of solely relying on audience reaction was a trend I wasn’t active for when it began, but it led me to a more fulfilling build experience. I found myself energized to create something new every time I stepped into my build space for the first time in years, and I hope that inspiration doesn’t dry up before the end of the summer so I can make a few more projects. Thanks to all these builders for signing my dominoes in the past, regardless if we ever end up meeting again.
