As a child I use to have a cassette player with the cassette compartment cover broken, I use to watch the reels turning as the cassettes were playing, this is similar, so satisfying and nostalgic.
I love Akai reel to reel decks, they're superb in sound and are "classy" looking. I keep my lights low so all the lights on the machines look better, it creates the coolest atmosphere
Recently purchased one and the sound on playback is great , ofcourse thats if you have good tapes. Mine are all old and I would like to buy some new but the price is expensive for just one 7" tape. I keep looking and tapes Ive bought used are not so good but occasionally you find a good one. I have also got an Akai x -200d so must get some recording done.
I got one of this units, but when I compare the source vs the tape recording, the tape sound much brighter and thinner than the source, that has not any sense right? It would sound warmer and a bit darker I guess. Do you know which could be the problem?
These Akai reel to reel sure do sound sweet. Quality gear and robust in construction. They never stop. I have five 4000Ds all in the silver. Always wanted a black version. Was this a Euro Model ??
Hello, I have an AKAI 4000 DS recorder. But there is a problem. When the recording level changes to the red mark, the sound disappears for a few moments, coming back soon ... What should be happening?
Lol !! I was close. We don't have Thrift stores here. Our equivalent type stores are too cunning and will sell everything at full mug retail prices. You might as well just use Ebay. Very nice pick up indeed. Well done for saving this unit.
@@Royalbigness I got my last recorder, a Sony, for $10 bucks at a garage sale from a guy way out in the sticks, who got it from a storage unit that was sold off for back rent. He had no clue what it was. All it needed was a power cord. Grabbed it, and used a power cord from an old computer. Clean and flawless. Sounded fantastic! Lost it in a house fire several years later. Looking for another clueless Okie to sell me another one... (Just in case that remark bothers anyone, I'm an Okie, and so was that wonderful junk dealer.) Just goes to show, one mans trash is another man's treasure. ✌️
Would have been nice if you would have switched to actual tape sound and not just have it on source the whole time. I have silver version. Love it. It looks amazing in black though.

Привет, скажите, пожалуйста, крышка оригинальная или самоделкина.
I just picked one up at the thrift store and it works great. Is there anything I should do right of the bat to keep it functioning?
Let me guess, you paid 10 dollars for it right ??
20 bucks

👍👍👍👍👍
Can you also show where the line-in is given from the sound source? Is it in the rear panel?
Yes
CUAL ES EL VALOR?
Just bought one of these works great but the sound is a bit dull, not much top end.
Did you try cleaning and demagnetizing the heads? If so then you can recalibrate them also. Should be lots of high end.
Estoy pensando en adquirir uno para mis grabaciones, crees que es una buena compra para grabaciones semi-pro?? Muchas gracias!

THAT'S RIGHT!YOU DO NEED TO COMPARE SOURCE AND TAPE.LOVE THIS BLACK VERSION.I HAVE A 4000 DB.
It's literally on TAPE. Like, the WHOLE TIME.
crazy how if you actually paid attention you'd see that the switch was set to tape the entire time.
