    Awesome Andy... I used to work at a trailer camp. I would move the trailers into enclosed storage for the winter. I made a front hitch on my 4 wheel drive tractor. My hitch would take 1,000 lb tongue weight. Pushing a trailer with a front hitch is far easier than backing it in. If you have a small 4x4 tractor, fabricate a hitch and it will make moving your trailer in the yard a breeze.

    Just a simple comment. I had forgotten about your rebuild until the other day. I was about 6 months behind. Don't be discouraged by the other viewers, it is your project, and you've got a job and family. Those things take priority over our watching a video of you busting your ass to get something done. Those of us that have the same obstacles understand, and will be here to watch as you can make it happen.

    Hey Andy, Just an FYI that we developed interior endcap kits that we sell & ship in "knock down" form via FedEx ground. They are laser cut & all the holes are NC punched. Edges are bead rolled to allow the panels to lay correctly as they create the arc. The kits get preassembled with "buck" rivets outside the trailer, then carried in through the door & installed. We have used them on many of our shop projects & supplied them to many other Airstream restoration shops & DIYers. Some people choose to polish the panels & some choose to paint.

    Would be awesome to have a door in the divider wall that lines up with the trailer door so you can work on it while it’s parked in there

    You know Andy, you have your priorities, family and your woodworking business and of course they take top priority. I don't think you have to feel like you've let your viewers down, you work on the argosy when you have time and when you Want to work on it. I started watching your videos when you started working the argosy, but having built furniture back in the day for my family I love your woodworking projects just as much. I'm going to vote for choice number 1, the black rims and chrome moon cap, I think that'll go great with the argosy. You and yours stay healthy and safe and cheers from this old retired coot living in Tennessee along for the journey.💖 👍 😷 🍻 ✌

    Hey Andy my old boss had a large caravan here in the UK and he struggled everytime with putting it away until he bought a automated parking part that attached to the wheels, basically it turned his caravan into a giant remote controlled vehicle just like you buy your children to play with!!! Maybe that's something you can look into where you live making the argosy your giant remote controlled car !!! Cool toy to play with!!
    The first wheel hub is the best !!! Retro throw back they would look cool on the argosy!!!
    You can't beat a frustration break to get you motivated once you go back to the project in hand!!! As always buddy 💯% 👍🇬🇧.

    Yay!!! Thank you for posting again. But I get it. And you have a lot going on. Give grace to yourself and hopefully you are feeling grace from viewers. It’s important. We ordered our dual axles from Colin Hyde 5 weeks ago. We are about a year behind you on our 1971 Sovereign reno. (31 ft’er). I’ve learned so much from you and Ian M. Appreciate you guys. And the wheels. That’s a hard decision. I think I like the first ones. The vintage looking ones. So fun!

    Andy, just forgot to mention that I installed front receivers on all of my tow vehicles. It makes backing a trailer into tight spots very easy. They are available from hitch suppliers & are very easy DIY bolt on for most popular tow vehicles.

    Andy. Andy. Andy. I'm amazed by how quickly you're moving this monumental project along! Between running your amazing custom woodworking business, being a loving husband and Dad, making improvements to your property and this "simple & quick" restoration project, you're somehow able to keep all the balls in the air. Congratulations, not apologies are warranted. I can hardly wait to see what you'll be working on next!

    Andy I prefer the steel wheels over the aluminum only because, you are going to paint the trailer. If it was going to be polished I would say aluminum. I keep the work up it looks beautiful.

    Great job and nice clear video. FYI I you can actually cut the ends without taking all the panels down. You can use a multitool after you mark it or you feeling a little frisky you can free hand with a cut off grinder or a Dremel cut off.

    The airstream is looking awesome!And you are right, looking at the big picture can make you feel overwhelmed. Etrailer is the way to go. I live 20 min from the warehouse so I pick up all my trailer parts but I cant decide which of the two wheels cause you havent said what you are painting the outside yet. So I would have to say the black ones. Cause black goes with everything :)

    Great video- something to think about. You may want to cut a doorway into Emily parking spot into the Argosy so you can load up supplies for camping trips. As it appears now, you need to pull out the trailer to load up or retrieve any items you forgot inside.

  • @TomokosEnterprize
    @TomokosEnterprize 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Lookin good Andy. The cliko makers are lovin you fella ! Nice parking job but a bummer if you need to get into it while inside. A traditional 5 spoke wheel with a like pinstripe to match the lower part of the body or even the top color. Go for it as it will look great either way eh.

    Andy I actually like the looks of the chrome mods better. But you could also go with a painted wagon wheel, instead of the baby moon hub caps which look good as well. But all three would be correct for that Argosy trailer, and by that I mean baby moon hub caps, wagon wheels and chrome mods. That said go with the chrome mods, as it will be more fitting with the modernization you have made on that trailer.

  • @RetiredPilot
    @RetiredPilot 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Andy, you need to put a door in your car garage so you can get into the trailer without pulling it out. I suggest a sliding barn type of door. Then you don't need to pull the trailer out if you need to get inside of it for some reason. I also suggest having a AC plug in for the trailer in the carport so you can work in the trailer while it is in the carport. cheers

      @@AndyRawls It is a lot easier to take the car out, also if you get some bad weather you can still work on it. Make it big enough I would say 48 inches. Next put stops on the floor so the trailer is always in the right place. Cheers

    Fun fact about roadrunners: they're zygodactyl which means that they have two toes facing forward and two toes facing backwards on each foot, leaving an X shaped print on the ground. The 2nd and 3rd toes face forward and the 1st and 4th face backwards (when holding up 4 fingers, it would be like your pinky and index fingers being twisted around to point backwards while your middle and ring fingers stay pointing forward). Also, they're part of the cuckoo family.
