I have been a fan of Gary Numan since Are Friends Electric, before it made number one. I have see this man live so many times and all I can say is Gary Numan has got better. He is 65 and you wouldn’t know it. Lyrical genius.
He was sensational as always. Although I would have loved to hear Are Friends Electric, Down in the Park and Me I Disconnect From You. I consider those his best songs.
“Dark” and “my name is ruin” are two of my favorites. Did the crowd…not have a more energetic reaction to Numans performance? Idk, maybe the applause sounds more muted on the video. Thanks for the upload
@@SusieDavidsonBrookl Gary was not feeling his best at the DC show- and it was a (still)fab show (it was with Ministry and Front Line Assembly ( I went to see Gary and saw Ministry b4 and AL J did not pull me there!) And no ESSENCE ♌
I must confess the only song I know is Cars, but I really liked his other songs. He sounds great, reminds me of Nine inch nails. Gotta do some research on him!
Definitely do your research, Gary Newman first album came out in 1979 when Gary was 21 years old . Gary Newman signature album's from the 1980s are New Wave Dark Wave synth his Industrial album's are his newer material
You will be very pleased with the riches you will seek on your exploration into Numan in 97-present day. Start off with this song , it’s currently in the top 5 of my Numan playlist... “I Know Time Is Calling” it’s a song he recorded for Mark Ronson’s music documentary film. I wish Gary would make a record with Mark producing. It would be a cool change up from the last few records. But that’s just me. I actually heard he is supposedly doing some acoustic work. There is a little sample of what it will be like on TH-cam. Enjoy you treasure hunt
And here I thought he was going to be fat and old, but still doing Cars, which I love BTW, But wow! I was blown away, He looks better and sounds even better. This was epic! Guess Iv missed a few albums! Such a fantastic show!
I’ve been reading a lot comments saying Numan stole the show at this fest, probably bc he’s on show 25 of his US stretch compared to the other artists. If he headlined and played in the dark everyone would of been blown away 2-3 times as hard with his light show.
Hate to break it to you but not true I was so bummed to see he was using playback and not singing at all. I was pissed because I’ve been meaning to see Gary Numan for so long and when I finally get the chance he’s lip syncing. Shame. I was mad I passed on abc to see him. Not only that he forced us to sit through his new material for a good min as soon as I rushed to go see the remained of ABC he starts playing cars. I could care less at that point. Again super disappointed. Hoping it’s only for festivals cause I get that stage setup can be hell.
Pixel phone. I am Android all the way, f iPhones. People think they have to have them because everyone else does. But Androids are far superior and always were and also have much less radiation. When I go to Europe for festivals everyone has Androids.
It was very hard to control from being way back and having to zoom in the entire time plus getting bumped around from people. My apologies. As you can see in my other YT videos, I am usually very steady and focused.
Hello, as I said in my apology below, I was jostled around by the crowd, and I was also far back and had to zoom in the entire time, which is very hard to control. I pride myself on steady filming and you could see that in my other videos.
I don't get the logic of how they book acts whose prime was the 1980s. Think of the age of the audience. I see so many shows advertised in venues where the audience has to stand. To me, it is not worth arriving early to get a premium spot, then stand through an opening act, then continue standing for the main attraction. I am almost 58 years old --not going to happen that I stand there for almost three hours.
I am older than you and I stand for many hours. You have to keep yourself in good physical condition, as we know many people don't, especially in America. I am thrilled to see bands from the '80s and am leaving for Belgium next week to go to W Fest for the 4th time.
Very sorry, I was far back and so I had to zoom for the whole show. It's hard to control it when you are zooming throughout. Not to mention being banged about by the crowd. If you look at my other videos they are very steady and focused. I did the best that I could with this one.
There is NO ONE to touch Gary Numan...the man is a pioneer and legend...he's fabulous , musically, the man basically IS God.
Gary has had his career challenges over the year since his early TA and solo success, so this is brilliant to see.

The master.
I missed him on Saturday but caught him on Sunday....he's killing it
I saw him on both Saturday and Sunday….he is killing it
I love Gary, but I’m glad I saw him at a smaller venue. His sets look great under darkness.
Great concert! NUMAN IS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Loved him since 79!
Great to see the event staff enjoying it too! the dude in the black cap dancing is a legend!!!! good job!! heyyyyyy from the UK!
yup gary was great loved the show and performance, and he also he played the next day what a true processional.
So Impressed
thanks so much for hosting this, what a treat, moving, in fact.

Awesome I saw this set in DC 3 May 2023 and love the sets of the bands at Cruel World in Cali
Did they do Essence Rare at that show? I was bummed that they didn't do it at Cruel World.

Oh I meant gang of four not doing essence rare.
@@SusieDavidsonBrookl And I also LOVE Essence- it has been decades since I saw Gang of Four - it may have been 1984!😇
@@SusieDavidsonBrookl Hey Susie - I got to see Gang of Four in OHIO in 1984💜
i didnt know about the new stuff and wow totally a fan now
You have homework to do. You’re gonna totally be blown away too.
So I came in right in the middle of his set just as Cars was ending. ...and then Haunted hit and I lost my sh*t!!!!!
Numan always sounds great,from a numanoid.england.

Gary lives a great life and works hard. Still flies stunt planes. Great family. His daughter is going to be a star.
Get his album 'Splinter (Songs from a Broken Mind)'. Some absolutely killer songs on it.

What is the song name at 20:00?
"Metal"
Shame u focused on the lights a little too much 😂

Great music shame about the dodgy filming, but thanks for doing this. Just a little less of the lighting rig next time?

Did he buy a new wig for the show?
Hair plant also some plastic surgery
At least he owns it-just makes him that much more of a legend
It’s his hair. He shifted it a long time ago.
Need to buckle up on your camera skills mate unless your a dwarf 🤔 Heavy set mainly focused on his anti God themed tunes bar a few.
