Was He Jordan's Punching Bag? DENNIS HOPSON Stunted Growth!

  • Of course he wasn't. At no point in today’s feature’s ammeter career did anyone think he would only last 5 seasons in the league. Did his head coach sabotage his NBA future, Or was it his agent? Was he not good enough? Or was playing on teams with 2 of the greatest ever at his positions something he couldn’t compete with? Many questions about Dennis Hopson’s career, but one thing we know for sure is as a top 3 pick in the NBA draft, you’re thought of as a future franchise cornerstone piece and seen as an immediate impact player who has the potential to change the team he goes to. Dennis Hopson at 3 didn’t shock too many at the time of the 1987 NBA draft, seeing as he was coming off an historic college career that lasted 4 years, saw him score back to back 20ppg seasons with his final season being top 2 in ppg in the nation. He finished his collegiate career as Ohio State’s all time leading scorer with 2096 career points. A record that still stands for the school to this day almost 40 years later. He’s most famously known for having been drafted before a few notable players in NBA History. Names like Mark Jackson, Reggie Miller, Kevin Johnson, Kenny Smith and of course Scottie Pippen, drafted just 2 picks later. Hopson would actually play with Scottie on the Bulls later on, where it was clear, that draft pick was a mistake. But many things had happened by that point, that affected his play on the Bulls not to mention being at the same position as not only the greatest player to ever play the game, but equally the most fierce competitor. Was he Jordan's practice punching bag? Was He Jordan's Punching Bag? DENNIS HOPSON Stunted Growth!

    2 additional stunts for him based on watching this:
    1st. Self-awareness and accountability-look when you are repeatedly traded as a bench player, recognize and adjust your game. Additionally, when a new coach comes in, recognize you need to become exceptional at what you do because they are looking for reasons to get rid of you
    2nd. Greatness comes to those who fight through discomfort-he aint have that dawg in him. That is ok-until you become a top 3 lottery pick

    I know Hopson personally from osu & he was somewhat over rated bc of his 29 pts a game there. He was in the perfect situation. Similar 2 jammer ferdette Hop was given the green light as the #1 option. No one one on the team really was an offensive threat. I kind of remember a guy name Jay Burson putting up pts after Hopson left. There wasn't much talent on those osu teams back then. On a normal buckeye team with more talent, he probably would have averaged 18 - 22 pts a game which would have probably placed him in the middle of the 1st round. I remember him shooting a lot of mid range j's, not very many 3 pointers. Hop had some very long arms which suited him perfectly in college. U say he was very athletic but long arms add 2 one's vertical which can b a misnomer. It can add as many as 2 or 3 inches 2 one's vertical. Barkley had long arms, s Kemp had long arms, dr j, connie Hawkins had long arms. Thanks 4 the info. I didn't know that part about his agent. I just thought he washed out. Masterful video,, keep up the exceptional work Last time I talked 2 him, he owned a construction company & had a bunch of dump trucks in Ohio. He is down to earth & a good person

    Thanks for the update, was wondering what happened to him...The nba is so political that an owner, G.M. or even a coach can severely derail & sabotage a career in the league & now, add an agent to that mix b/c of bias, ego, incompetence, etc. There are plenty of examples to choose from however, at least Dennis won a ring which most players cannot say & he was blessed to be able to play professionally even if it was overseas.

  • @kingdingaling2469
    @kingdingaling2469 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    It’s another really messed up thing some of those agents do , when they have their pockets best interests in mind over your overall best interests in mind.
    Yes , He may have made more $ off that immediate contract for a couple years but He lost money on the backend.
    Mainly with His pension , but also just in another contract in The NBA after that Kings contract would have ran out , as well as just getting more clout in The Association always brings you more $ in many different avenues.
