In answer to your question, I would say, no, it's not you. We all have to come to terms with the fact that there are things in life that simply defy explanation. Being old and having gone through what you are now experiencing many, many times in my life, I can tell you that your experience is in no way uncommon. Most people are afraid to talk about it out of fear of driving others away and then being even more lonely. So, get it out in the open and who knows, maybe people can tell you here how they deal with the issue. Always remember though, life is always changing, this too shall pass.
