Another week of the new theme song. My pain is immeasurable. I should sulk in the corner with the people who thought they’d rename to Segmania. I’m beyond angry… I’m calm.

This thread will serve as a discussion for larger themes in "Ha Eun," by H.E. Kim. Some suggested prompts for breakout groups to discuss here: 1) Are Ha Eun, Harry, and Harrison the same person, or do they represent different stages or facets of identity? Discuss the significance of the name changes throughout the poem and how they might reflect the intersection of Korean and American cultures. 2) The poem transitions from playful childhood scenes to more solemn adult moments. How does the shift in tone affect your interpretation of the poem’s themes, particularly regarding the integration of cultural identities? 3) The line "Disguised symbolically at first then veiling historically" suggests layers of meaning and concealment. In what ways might this speak to the Korean American experience of navigating between heritage and assimilation? 4) Consider the cultural and personal implications of mourning in the poem. What might "Ha Eun sits now to mourn" signify in terms of cultural loss or transformation within the context of a Korean American identity? 5) How does the structure of the poem - its rhythm and breaks - affect your reading or emotional response? Does the structure reflect the complexities of maintaining a dual identity? 6) Discuss the role of education and public ceremonies (like graduation) in the poem. How might these events symbolize broader themes of cultural identity and personal achievement within the Korean American community?
1/2) I think Ha-Eun's transition into Harrison represents a common human fear or anxiety about aging out of playfulness into a world that is cruel. Ha-Eun represents that childlike wonder that is innate in us all, and his transition to Harrison is the transition we all must come to terms with. Furthermore, there is a simultaneous transition from Ha-Eun's Korean heritage into a more palatable Americanized cultural identity. Ha-Eun must become Harrison in more ways than one. To be accepted as a "productive" body, he must shed the heritage that might conflict with that transition. Ha-Eun feels specific, it feels intimate, it feels known. The product of cultural heritage passed down through love. Harrison? Harrison is anyone. Harrison has to be everyone, so that Harrison can be no one.
Amir's gonna end up with a best-selling book of poetry by the end of this. It's like watching a guy fine tune his poetry AS A JOKE to subvert his friend, but they're getting great lmao
Holy shit. I knew Amir had the poetry gene, but I didn’t think it would manifest so soon. That was actually a really good poem. Now I need a book of poems by Amir Valerie Blumenfeld
It's kind of funny for Amir to refer to what he was doing as "sort of being an AI." No, when the AI is coming up with content ideas it's sort of being you
Was listening on spotify. Had to come to the YT version just dap up our boi on his poem. I don't read that book shit though but Amir made a wannabe bard out of me.
Wait did Amir come up with Ends Well Yet, without knowing that All's Well That Ends Well is an existing Shakespeare play? He says he took it from the popular phrase, but the popular phrase literally comes from Shakespeare lol.
Im sorry Amir’s W is an L, not original thoughts and just ripped from other actual poems. Changed the rules, and not part of the original point of the game. Auto-forfeit. Another W for Jake
Amir is the only true winner of the Poem Game, Jake's poem was shit and only won because there was an equally shit poem to choose. This and the Stevie Nicks situation paints him as a chicken, a yellow man.

Bad theme song nah.... Bad you
Faris, please. We need a neutral theme song.
I can't believe Amir's logic of "I made poetry or noetry harder for you by trying to imitate the most famous poet ever" actually paid off.
The emphasis on the first words of each line made me recognize "Ends Well Yet" instantly as an H.E. Kim original
BARGAINING we do something
MERRILY they do something else
*Shakespeare beautifully describing someone’s body decaying at the bottom of the ocean by comparing their bones to coral and their eyes to pearls*
Jake: I feel nothing
😂
In 2,000 years when Amir Valerie Shakespeare is but a footnote in the history books, "Ends Well Yet" will live on as the poem of the 3rd Millenium

hogwash
Amir messed up the grammar in "Ends Well Yet" and still managed to bamboozle Jake's uncultured ass twice. Huge win for DJ Shmoomoo
It also was not in iambic pentameter, which if you listen for it, is a big giveaway
That's exactly what i thought!
To y'all, to sheesh, perchance 'twas a dream
Loud, Proud, and Maud!
28:42 It's a throwaway line but "Corn! Who goes there??" is seriously freaking funny
Jjkae needs to brush up on the immortal bard. I knew the first one was Amir from the title lmao
I love that Amir won the poetry game by writing a beautiful poem
Amir's gonna end up with a best-selling book of poetry by the end of this. It's like watching a guy fine tune his poetry AS A JOKE to subvert his friend, but they're getting great lmao
We need Hogwash to get its own poem
I sniffed out Ends Well Yet immediately with how he used “needeth” it wasn’t quite correct. Congrats grad
Same exact same. “All that begins needeth end”
Amir muddied the waters.
"If at first you don't succeed, change the rules of the game. Also, the theme song should really coddle your sad ass"
-Amirs fortune cookie
It's a sand nut!
This is such a historic episode
Holy shit. I knew Amir had the poetry gene, but I didn’t think it would manifest so soon. That was actually a really good poem. Now I need a book of poems by Amir Valerie Blumenfeld
What do you mean? Amir’s talent has been on full display since his “best beer to buttchug” scroll.
Congrats to Amir that's actually impressive
It's kind of funny for Amir to refer to what he was doing as "sort of being an AI." No, when the AI is coming up with content ideas it's sort of being you
Jake almost gets Amir canceled by asking him to describe an imperfect person lol Amir just immediately started thinking of differently abled people
We got his ass!
EVERYBODY EVERYBODY LET'S GET INTO IT, GET STUPID, LET'S GET IT STARTED IN HAAAA
@@rainerk5951 Op ka bump fa solid
"i think about this a lot"
"why?"
Bring back the OG theme song!
All these theatre nerds are the same, they start with a lion king reference and then it just snowballs from there
DOESN'T IT, YOU LOSER
I couldn't ask for a better Birthday present than a Segment from my two favorite jews ❤️
*Whispers "I deserve so much more..." under my breath*
So Jake would only eat chicken nuggets and Mac and cheese as a kid? He’s the real life amir
Can we do a segment where Jake asks random NBA player facts and Amir has to figure out the player!?
Love this idea. Amir’s come up with some good trivia games, so it would be great to see Jake reciprocate!
“Ends Well Yet” was really good wtf. My favourite of the 3
you guys do improv all the time in your podcasts and are really good at it honestly
Wow thanks for answering my question and brava for the pronunciation of my last name. Would love to see you guys and Ben do a tour!
Was listening on spotify. Had to come to the YT version just dap up our boi on his poem. I don't read that book shit though but Amir made a wannabe bard out of me.
Everyone knows the way to Jake’s heart is a bunch of flowery platitudes.
I really like that last segment with the poster titles and coming up at the movie around it.
I think this theme song is more than enough already, I think we need this this this this this poison to be brought back!
Last segment was phenomenal
How did Jakey not like full fathom five that shit was moving af
It would be an honour to have Shakespeare and the Pinch return to Toronto’s hallowed halls
Sigh no more is a very very famous one he should have picked a different one lol
I knew Full Fathom Five and Sigh No More Ladies were Shakespeare cause I remember reading them both in English class in highschool.
😮😮
Avocado, Banana, Mango for sure
my first guess was 3 but when amir called out that hey nani nani was the thing he assumed jake was his tell - I knew it was number 1
We’ve been lied to for decades. It was Jake who held the nuggets obsession. Not Amir. I can’t believe it.
Every single week I hold on hope for the mean theme and every week I'm disappointed, smh rlly jumped the carp on this one
noetry is the best bit of all time easily GOAT'd in the hall of fame rest in peace young man
BRAVA AMIR! BRAVA 👏
This is a truly momentous occasion
congrats Amir! You got the bish!
im very surprised with how solid Amir's top 3 fruits are
hey nani nani, hey nani nani!!
Wait did Amir come up with Ends Well Yet, without knowing that All's Well That Ends Well is an existing Shakespeare play? He says he took it from the popular phrase, but the popular phrase literally comes from Shakespeare lol.
There's literally a sex shop in Dover called Bendover.
What about Naddpod meets Segments- where Geoffrey James attempts to break the record for most consecutive sharts
Daryl McMexican should be played by Edward Nort
i love you guys
shocked to hear you two don't often eat blue foods. Clearly not following the Frank Reynolds diet plan
Ah yes, William Shakespeare's poetry is "not really English."
Btw I think a gander is a male goose
Woop
The heck is wrong with Jake’s nose bridge during the ad reads??
The poem was good! I thought it was the 2nd
Give us the negative theme!!!!
congrats amir youre a poet now. better than shakespear even
jake's gut was right (merily) but the poem was too strong
What a horrible day to have ears
Enough! Absolutely enough!
Isn't Jake supposed to sing?
Try "Jakespeare"
