My father Petty Officer Francis Xavier Mordaunt was one of the 645 crew members who simply disappeared off the face of the earth on 19 November 1941. About 20 years before the wreck of the HMAS Sydney was found my mother charted a light plane and flew about 50 miles offshore, because she believed that the German Captain had told the truth and that was were the Sydney sank. And that was were it was finally found. Thank you for letting me see that, 79 years after I last saw my Father. Phil.
When I waz four, I lost my father, in the sea off Carnavom in 1941, when the HMAS Sydney was sunk with every membed of the 745 crew. It was very interesting to see the location. My father was Petty Officer F.X. Mordaunt. Phil.
Are you talking about the 4wd at 10:12? I agree. Asking to get it taken off I thought at the time. Heck, that was 12 years ago. First time I've watched it in years 😁
