Who else would want to buy the drought problem? If you buy any animal during a drought you to have to come up with the water somewhere, so a drought would easily drive down prices...
@@philliphager6107 I don't think lack of water was the problem, since you saw the well filled river they crossed when fleeing. A drought will dry up what grass the cattle graze on --THAT'S the problem. You heard one of the Rohmer's say that Druhn had enough pasture for both their herds, but wouldn't share because he wanted to force them to sell at a loss. I've raised cattle through a drought, 3 of 'em in fact. The pasture grasses get so dry they crackle when you walk on them. You have to start feeding hay way earlier than normal. Few western ranchers put up hay in the early days. And pray that the rains come in time to grow some more hay to harvest before time to feed them in the winter. It's truly a worrisome time if you raise livestock. What drives prices down is everyone selling down their herd size at the same time, because of lack of feed. That happened in Texas several years ago during their years long drought. Massive selling into an already well supplied market will "knock the bottom out," of beef prices, as we would say.
Many thanks from Ireland. A very enjoyable movie. Any movie with Broderick Crawford is a must watch for me.

Doppiatelo in italiano o mettete i sottotitoli in italiano grazie
If they got $5 a head they should have some money, and just because there was a drought why should they have to sell cheap?

A nice western overall, but somehow it lacked suspense for me. Maybe I'm just not in the mood today. Even my cigar isn't drawing properly.
