I second the motion on the voltmeter for trouble shooting. Also, a step by step of checking if your panels are working correctly would be amazing! Thanks for the vids, keep um coming.
Thank you very much. I'm confused by your statement that Watt Hours are like Miles / Gallon. The calculation you gave was a 100W light bulb for 1 hour is 100 watt hours. You are multiplying. But if I go 50 miles and use 10 gallons, I get 5 miles-per-gallon (mpg). That is dividing. To multiply I'd use the calculation 5 mpg * 10 gallons = 50 miles. In other words, I can go 50 miles on 10 gallons of gas in a 5 mpg car. That is similar to I can light a 100 W light bulb 1 hour on a 100 Watt hour battery. By that comparison, Watt hours are a volume of power and not a rate. I always get confused when I try to come up with these comparisons.
14/16 Watched all your earlier videos, went back to rewatch as I'm getting ready to install dc lights and solar panes in cottage. Thanks for the videos, you make things clear and easy to understand.
Is it ok to run wires from a 920AH LiFePO battery bank on my RV to a battery charger on my towed vehicle (lead acid 12 volt) to keep that battery charged for use of the brake controlled and lights?
14/16 The wording on the questions had me choosing between 2 answers, I choose wrong. I like the format and I have learned so much from you . Thanks you.
13/16. Still learning. Probably would have scored a 4 or 5 if I hadn't watched the video. Next time I think that I will take the quiz pre and post watching to see how much I learned.
16/16 😎. I would not have explained Watt-hours the way you did it, but I must admit it is certainly simpler for beginners (wich I belonged to a few years ago) to understand.
i see this as; AC is going back and forth to/from power grid and as such continues as long as the grid is "up". while DC is flowing out, so it 'runs out' and needs to be refilled.
Nice education on basic terms 14/16 on the quiz. Tripped up on A unit of energy storage, never been a good test taker but I'll keep trying. Thanks for the great instruction.
Great job as always. I want your take on volt amps vs watts. A Victron inverter is labeled as say 3000 VA but only has an watt output of 2400. I assume this is the power loss of inverting DC to AC but wanted to be sure. Your comment on this would be great. Thanks!
Not easily, no. It would be easier to treat the RV as a 'backup' in the same way you would a backup fuel generator; but getting the RV to 'assist/aid' would be a substantial undertaking.
16/16. Would like to know more about Amps and the subtle difference between Power and Energy. Possible error at 9:39. Should it be 1200 W/12 V = 100 Amps?
Great video. I ended up with 14/16 on the quiz. I will try to take better notes in class next time...😎 Thank you for the interesting & informative content. 👍
Great Vlog with nice clear simple explanations backed by easy to understand examples. I'm definitely beginner level and have used your videos to build a simple offgrid system in the rear of my 4x4 wagon. I'm looking forward to learn much more so I can upgrade my caravan electrics. 16/16 so you must me a great teacher.
14/16 Thank you for this great tutorial, I can't tell you how many times I've had this explained to me, finally your video did the job. I think I'll watch it again!
Wow, I amazed at how well I did. My Total points was 15/16. I was confused on the 12th question "What is an Amp-Hour?" But I know now! Thank you for explaining how electricity is measured and works!!
13 points… not proud but I’m learning… love the new title and direction… will continue to tune in to learn.. the website support document was great too for those of us who retain better through reading. Appreciate all the work y’all put into the content.
Good to see this move forward to the "ACADEMY".. You were immensely helpful to me when I was designing and building my 24V Solar Travel Trailer Install with 4 - 24v 50AH Battle Born Batteries and 6 - 200W Rich Solar Panels. I will be "ATTENDING" your Academy and am sure I will find it a great learning experience. Thank you for putting it together.
12of 16 🥴retake to correct 100% really excited about this Nate i’ve been wanting something like this class forever. It’s fun to learn without the pressure 😊thanks everyone
Thank you! Came for the knowledge. Stayed for the overvolted Elmo. 😆 FYI that your quiz says: "This form can only be viewed by user in the owner's organization"
Welcome aboard! New lessons in the paid academy will be published 1-3 times per week once we get our workflow nailed down and also depending on how detailed/long each lesson is.
Excellent timing! As we are about to get a full PV install, and would like to learn more indepth, so i know how to add or modify the installation at a later point! Please keep this academy playlist free to watch :)
13/16 I got tripped up on energy and power questions. I understand the application differences and yet on paper get it wrong. I'll be making this my, defacto video for Sharing how electricity works. Great video.
Very well done basic foundation. Don’t worry about Sparkychuck123-he is the guy who still flies kites with keys tied to see if the silver key really does conduct better than copper😂

down the road can u please show us how to use a voltmeter to help us trouble shoot systems. Excellent work thanks

Yeah, I'm 👍 #555
16/16…I’ve watched most if not all of your videos, plus a bunch of others.
I know all of this stuff, however a lot of people don't. I applaud your work in bringing people up to speed.

14/16 Sorry, 87.5% thought i'd do better, but my basic wording of Watt-hour and Amp hour as energy storage did not quite measure up :-)
Thank you! I am learning! I got 13/16 on my first attempt at the quiz.
16/16 😎. I would not have explained Watt-hours the way you did it, but I must admit it is certainly simpler for beginners (wich I belonged to a few years ago) to understand.
14/16, way better than before I started to watch your videos😊. Thank you for this tutorial.

14/16 correct answers! 87.5% 😅
12/16 how embarrassing😊
AAAWEEESOOM! Thank you!
10:51 THIS is why I love your channel!
I want to see how @sparkychuck764 will reply to this video! 😆
Thank you for your video I shared your channel 😊
15 of 16, but realize I need to study this more so I really Understand this. Will watch again and take notes. Thank you for this!!
You got this!
15/16 silly mistake.
My score was 15 out of 16

Great suggestion! I've got a Volt Amps vs Watts on the schedule for the 'Inverters' chapter of this academy.
Got 16/16 on quiz
Hey Nate, is it possible to connect my camper Solar System to aid my house power from the grid between trips?🤔
Not easily, no. It would be easier to treat the RV as a 'backup' in the same way you would a backup fuel generator; but getting the RV to 'assist/aid' would be a substantial undertaking.
Thanks for all the trouble you go to to make these videos! 14/16, not good enough to be safe, one more time...
Glad you like them! Cheers!
thank you

Thanks!
16/16. Would like to know more about Amps and the subtle difference between Power and Energy. Possible error at 9:39. Should it be 1200 W/12 V = 100 Amps?
15/16. Thanks for starting at the beginning with some simple vocabulary. I'm starting a notebook!
Great video. I ended up with 14/16 on the quiz. I will try to take better notes in class next time...😎

14/16. Not horrible, but need to know it. Will join the group in re-watching! Thanks to all involved in the creation

1st day of class and I'm late! Gotta check that 5am alarm for next week.
Question? What do you do with the interior lights that are in the rear of the van? No one covers that in the builds.
The factory cargo lights? We just disconnect them and tuck them up and out of the way.

Looking forward to the whole series. Don
15/16, all thanks for watching your channel for years, and practicing by building my van!
I like your new style of videos, great editing! 😉

Probably has enough money in his 401k to replace all of the copper wires in his house with silver.
