    I know it’s not considered “cool” to ride an automatic bike and people think it makes you a “fake” if you don’t drive a manual but I had foot surgery and lost a good bit of dexterity in my left foot so the idea I could ride a motorcycle that shifts for me is ideal idc if it makes me look like a poser

      This ^^^ It also appeals to new riders in the same way, i grew up riding traditional bikes so it isnt an issue for me, but for my fiancé who has never been on a bike before we met? It makes a world of difference and opens up a lot of possibilities and options!

      People said the same about muscle cars...manual vs automatic...I hear the same thing about big rigs...manual vs automatic. I prefer automatic but I'm lazy like that, I like to eat my dessert first. Buy what you like.

      Its a cruiser. Cruisers and tourings having DCT is normal, you're not ripping these machines on the road. The whole point is to cruise long distances without worrying about clutch or any other thing. People who doesn't understand this also doesn't understand motorcycle culture.

      It sounds like your a young rider who cares what you ride manual or automatic it's about having fun and enjoying yourself not proving to other that your cool a motorcycle doesn't make you cool its just a hobby I know riders who have died trying to be cool and get acceptance from others

    The Rebel 1100 DCT does not have an “automatic” transmission in the traditional sense of the word. It has a Duel Clutch Transmission. Two clutches - one for 1st, 3rd and 5th gears and the other clutch for 2nd, 4th and 6th. The DCT is a performance transmission like those found in Lamborghini, Porsche or Ferrari sports cars. Unlike the rider in this video who roles off the throttle to change gears, proper gear changes with the DCT is done without any throttle changes. Just push whatever button you want when in Manual mode. When in D” (drive mode), you have the option of letting the transmission shift as programmed or using the manual buttons to override the computer’s gear selection. The duel clutch transmission changes gears almost instantly and therefore is faster than a traditional manual one.

    • @sonnybikes
      @sonnybikes  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No one asked. Also it does definitely have an “automatic” transmission. Just like a car with a “manual” mode. If you don’t have to physically pull a clutch and physically change gears, that’s called automatic…. because it happens automatically lmfao.

    • @rickseibel5904
      @rickseibel5904 2 ปีที่แล้ว +24

      @@sonnybikes Sorry to have ruffled your feathers. You obviously failed to comprehend my statement that the DCT was not an automatic in a TRADITIONAL sense. Calling the DCT an automatic is to give a wrong impression of its capabilities and most likely the very reason Honda doesn’t call that model the Rebel 1100 Automatic.

    This motorcycle is perfect for me. I was born with a disability and have no usage in my left hand so a motorcycle I don’t have to use a clutch with is perfect.

      He keeps calling it electric and complaining that it keeps changing gears back by itself without realizing that he could put it in full manual mode and it wouldn't do that. Apparently he didn't read up on this or get any instruction from anybody there whatsoever before complaining. Maybe also ease up with the expletives so you don't sound like such a child? Just a suggestion.

    Bro just hit the manual button on the right side next to N/D slap it in sport and rip through those gears MANUALLY. Total control of the gear you want to be in. This bike is designed to run it manually and crazy fast and responsive in sport mode.

    I got my full License on a Manuel. I couldn’t give a shit about changing the gears to be honest. As long as the bikes got some good grunt. I’d prefer just to sit back and not think about the gears at all.

    It is a shame he was part of the group or he would have been able to find out just how good the whole DCT system is, maybe he should have been shown how to change mode sooner and put it into manual for a real test or in DCT sport mode 0-60 in less than 4 secs is one reason for the traction control but topping out at 100 brings it back to reality as it is a cruiser the only reason I could find for this is the single disk up front unlike the faster Africa twin and new NT1100 both having twin disks up front for stopping power. The bike has been built to a price $10k in USA and £10k in UK and to make up the difference we get the pillion seat and pegs in UK the lighting is also different at the rear to comply with USA and UK laws.

    Lmao he was complaining at beginning, probably just due to it being a new experience and out of his usual element
    then as time went on he realized it was better than a manual 😅
    People who had no choice other than a manual will always have resentment towards newer technologies that allow anyone to hop on a motorcycle or even cars for that matter
    They feel like the experience needs to be earned….sorry people but the money out of pocket that people work for is what earns them the right to hop on a motorcycle plain and simple
    Everyone should learn a manual i believe but everyone should not have to ride one if they don’t want to

    "I hate, I don't like, et al" Bike's not even broken in, you are not competent on it YET, and you flow with complaints. Give yourself and the machine a break. Try getting used to the motorcycle before offering any opinions. "Jerky" is often the result of inappropriate mode or operator error.
