In 1993, her voice was at its peak. Strong, yet soft. Extremely fluid, yet very stable. Even her whistle register was magical during this era. The only con she faced was her tiredness in her live performances during the music box tour.
I love her smooth vocal freedom and upper register in 1995. You can tell she knows her voice better than. But it is healthier in 1993 you can tell with her breath control and her tone. It’s richer and and really shows off her iconic timbre. It cuts even more than in 1995. I think 1993 was probably her vocal prime.
I would say, her 1993 version shows her being more expressive and passionate, while her 1995 performance was more soft and romantic with her vocals being more clear. Both performances weren't that different from each other when hearing and seeing them side by side, except for the fact that the audio was much better and Mariah seemed more at ease in 1995. Although it were only one year apart it looks like they're two different people who share a big voice, how her style changed and everything, it's just bizarre. It's hard to choose a performance over the other because vocally, in both, she was amazing. :)
She sang the song more effortly in 95 and had a bigger range than 93. She had more emotions though in 93, but that’s cos her voice wasn’t as wide and developed as 95 and she had to put more effort into singing. She was very nasally in her early prime. 94,95,96 her voice was perfect. ❤️
