Gibby I see your understanding of the video but I believe its a lot deeper than that. The book shelf is a door and the books are the key. His love is on the other side( that being heaven or whatever you believe in), and the fact he loves and misses her deeply he is try to find the right key to open the door(thus him taking time to find the right book placement). So when he puts in the last book it opens the door to meet his beloved on the other side(his soul leaving his body) and which is why his body was under the book shelf at the end.
It is definitely a beautiful and deep song. I love it. I even got a killswitch engage tattoo. They are so positive and uplifting. They got me through alot of dark times when I was younger.♡

To me, it's about a man who lost the love of his life, and is still stuck in the living world, and she's passed away. And he still wants to be with her, my wife and I have been together for almost 20 years now. If she goes before I do, living without her would become a curse for me

A good song that features Howard Jones is the song dangerous by within temptation. They're goth/metal type band with a female singer. The video is dope too, it was for a Red Bull promotion.

Great reaction! While watching this video I always thought that the book shelf was a portal to another realm of reality and he had to put the books in a perfect order to open it up. At the end he finally figures out the portal and places the KSE book into its proper place. Then he reaches in and passes through to the woman waiting on the other side within the other realm. The part where he is also laying on the ground in the other reality leads me to believe that he might have died and the other realm was heaven and the woman was his girlfriend or wife that he reunited with at the end. I'm probably wrong but in any case he ended up with her in the end. In the chorus Howard sings "There is love buring to find you." He also sings "this is my curse, the longing ..this is my curse, time!! He is contemplating life as time spent waiting to reunite with his true love. Just my guess.

Love the videos my man, i had to turn it off though when i saw it was the radio edit. Not your fault, i hate that KSE sold out to the radio on this one.
His curse was that he was trying to pursue knowledge to escape his prison and reach his love, but it ended up consuming him. He ended up losing himself and only finding his love in his moments of dying hysteria.

To give a perspective The guy lost the girl. She died. And yes he killed himself to try to find her. I think the point is never to give up on finding your love. The point to this song is that the guy lost his love and would go to any lengths to find her, and finally be with her. The curse is loosing true love.

To me, the "curse" could be figuring out the configuration of the books to create the portal to see the girl he loves. The "curse" could be how that moment never lasts long enough once he's there. I've never heard anyone think of how he's "into his books and lost his relationship" or anything you mentioned. The video shows him figuring out a puzzle that he won't ever find a true finish for.

Howard's best performances are on the album versions of these type of songs. the video versions are sort of "censored" with more of the melodic vocals where there would normally be more passion and it really doesn't do the song justice at all. Please listen to the album version of this as well as The End Of Heartache
