    Thanks for doing this video. My generator was suffering from hard starts and engine surging. The technique to remove the stud worked perfectly. I didn’t remove the air box or the second black cover. I removed the soft pliable rubber duct by pulling out of the air cleaner housing. The studs do pull out. They get hung up on the rear gasket, but once you pull the studs out, the carb will pop right out.
    A couple of things I discovered are that these little engines are very sensitive to improper spark gap (which is supposed to be .025” and the oil should be topped off or changed regularly. When they run, they run great!

      Thanks for the comments. I have learned that if you run 30W oil (not 10W-30 but straight 30W) they do not burn any oil. I use 30W diesel oil from Walmart. If you look on my channel I have a 400 hour review video that I show the oil I use.

    Good information. EDIT 2 WEEKS LATER ....Thanks. So i started doing what you suggested, and discovered rather quickly. if you take off the fuel cap, and then the rubber deflector that keeps gas out of the case, The gas tank is NOT ANCHORED BY ANYTHING BUT ECCENTRICS THAT POP INTO THE RAILS. You can take a screwdriver and put it under the tank and just pop it out. This makes doubling the nut unnecessary, and makes cleaning the tank easy.

    Thank you. I was planning on pulling the studs, but confirming that inner cover had to come off and where the hidden screws were was the ticket I needed. And a good suggestion on adding the inline filter. Kudos.

    Your video was dead on ! thanks for the carb stud trick, I left the linkage hooked up, filled the carb over pulled the float bowl, needle seat and just sprayed B12 carb and choke cleaner and blew it out clean.
    Only trick I would suggest is stuffing a shop rag behind the carb so when and if you drop that nut you don't go crazy.

  • @thyhangman
    @thyhangman 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I hate to go thru all that and not replace the needle and seat inside the bowl so appreciate your breakdown. I was gifted the Wen 2000. It held out ok for a day without power during hurricane Ian. Ran it dry afterwards and ran it once a month since. Always started right up. Last month ran it and it slowed down and sputtered off sounding like it was out of gas and now won't restart and small as it is I'm only good for about 10 pulls lol Can't see the spark from the plug grounded well to the case, that's the only thing that little pillar they got there is good for, to hold the plug onto the case and no sparkay so going swap that out and look for a carb kit. Keep on fixing!

    There is a very tiny plastic fuel filter inside the metal tube on the carburetor (or as Taryl says carbitrator). I know because I saw one clogged once.. Chickanic has a video about it.

      @@Bbernhardsr Mine, built 3 - 2023 doesn't have it in the carb inlet. Looking inside the tank I can see that tiny strainer at the tank outlet before it goes into the shutoff valve. I suspect it is at the carb or tank. Thanks for the video.

      I have answered this topic before. Yes you are correct there is SUPPOSED TO BE a little white filter that sits in the fuel inlet on the carburetor. This generator did not have one. I have done annual service on over 50 of these units now and it really is hit or miss if they have one or not. Out of the 50 or more I have done I would say less than 20 had those filters. If yours had one then you can count yourself as one of the lucky ones.

      You just need to clean the carburetor. There is a small main jet that gets clogged. Clean the carb and it should run beautifully.

    • @rodx5571
      @rodx5571 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No method is fool proof. I have gas jugs with filters on the pour spout and the tank has a screen. Yet I am still pulling a carb and cleaning a tank. I will say this though, I am far from a casual generator user. I have 5 Generators from 1000w to 6kw. I live off grid, and sometimes you just need AC this far south (near Texas Mexico border) or to charge the solar batteries. This 2kw i picked up used for 300$ a few years ago. Its just big enough to run 8 hours on just over a gallon, charge batteries and keep AC running. So it gets run to death.
