Keep up the great videos. I like the way you explain the most basic things and don't assume we already know these things. As a beginning shade tree mechanic there are a lot of basic things I don't know yet.
One of the sway bar links was completely snapped on my XJ and apparently I had been driving around for a while like that. Watched this video yesterday, bought the parts today and installed as well. Thanks for the help!
Just finished replacing my end links and the bushings on the sway bar. Body roll is completely gone, feels like the jeep can corner like a sports car! Thanks for the help dude
Had to do this to my 95 XJ Sport soon after i bought it. The only thing I did different was to soak everything with penetrating oil ahead of time. Also didn't get the right bushings the first time, so I had a bit of a squeak until I got the correct bushings. Really helped with handling and steering. Also did steering stabilizer and shocks all around. Everything else in the front was tight. Was like driving a new Jeep.
Doing my shocks & bushings as well. Really looking forward to that "new" XJ feel in my '00! This Winter mine deteriorated rapidly & went into a skid on ice after hitting what woukd be a mediocre pothole as I got some front end bounce & lost just enough traction so these things do matter beyond "confort". It also gets you proper wear on your tires so don't neglect these. PENETRATING OIL IS YOUR FRIEND! I try to soak things a week before hand if possibly & periodically hit nuts & bolts when I'm doing other work & have a can on hand as rust is so often the biggest bane for what should be a quick job. If that doesn't do it then hopefully I can put fire to it. A good penetrating oil like Kroil or PB Blaster is key not the standard WD40.
Just did this it fixed my death wobble only problem I had trouble aligning the sway bar . It’s too close to the body on the driver side gonna have align it it runs with the body if I’m on a dirt road on street works fine thanks for the video though ,it helped me out a lot .
*optional* remove sway bar linkages everytime you go off road, you'll never seize up the linkage bolts. Or break the sway bar linkage as I learned the hard way. Don't be off roading with the linkages on 😬 Thanks for the video, knowing in advance what the socket sizes are saves a ton of time
Bro this is tutorial is at my speed of understanding. You do a great job, you don't expect me to know all the names of the parts, I really appreciate that! Question: would it be easier to drop the jeep on the ground before tightening the sway bar? As opposed to jacking up the axle?
How long were your sway bar links? Did you have to get any longer links for your lift? I'm getting a 2 inch lift and my mechanic saying I need some that are at least 10 inches
Good video but a word of advice would be to pre treat hours, a day, days, or a week prior with penetrating oil like PB Blaster or Kroil. Since you are replacing at the least the bushings you may be able to save some money with using penetrating oil & careful use of a torch (careful is key!).
My brakes are shot on my 99 jeep buddy said I need everything pretty much what cheap route can I take junk yard or is the a site people sell jeep parts please help if u can and thanks for all the tips
Got a RC 4.5” lift kit and when I got it installed the links it came with for the driver side has been leaning against and causing a very annoying squeak why is it like that tho?
My sway bar measured 25mm. The guy at the parts store said they didn't have 25 so he sold me the 26mm. Seems like going up in size would defeat the purpose. Any thoughts? Great video btw brother
my passenger side t55 bolt has some sleeve on it and the link doesn't slide over it. Trying to find videos on it. recently bought my 98 Jeep cherokee classic. The guy removed stabilizer bar and links and all bolts. Doing this from scratch
@@OutJeeping do you know what would, maybe it’s not death wobble but when I get to about 60-65 on the highway and when I turn I get a vibration that feels like death wobble but when I lower my speed it goes away, I don’t pull off to the side of the road and stop
I would check tires, ball-joints, control arm bushings and track bar ends. Those would be the true cause of any death wobble. But it could be other components as well contributing to a more mild wobble. I would suggest going over everything in the front end and replacing stuff that is worn out.
I used a marine grease which has good anti water properties. But any good grease should work. If you are greasing polyurethane bushings, try to use a silicone based grease.
The video for ball-joints is coming in a week or 2 but here are the ones I am using. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007N6OHI0/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Your videos have saved me over a thousand dollars. Thank you!!

Wisconsin shitbox needs some love this weekend. Thanks for the help.
Great video, I redid my sway bar links last night thanks to this guide. Bushings were completely shot.
Your video was very helpful, had no problem replacing old sway bar links and bushings with new ones. Thanks!!!!

Looking at doing some Jeep projects in the next coming weeks including sway bar stuff and your videos are great. Thanks!

Thank u for this video, this covered everything I needed to know.

Thanks, U resolved an issue of the pressed in end side not wanting to break loose. Just remove sway bar to hammer it out.
Great video. I have a 98 WJ and this was very helpful.
Great video, really informative
4:05-4:22 I’d be swearing at it! 🤬🤬
Replaced my sway bar links today on my 2000 xj. Your video made the job go quite easy!

Glad to know I can take that off before off reading never thought about it
Putting this in my watch later. I'm doing front and rear on a 2000 soon
Thanks for a detailed video
now its out in the snow and fix my jeep
Thanks man I knew it wasn't that complicated lol.
Well my sway bar link broke off so I know what I’ll be doing this weekend 😂
Super helpful, thank you!
-clicks on video
-clicks thumbs up
-doesnt watch video because I already have done this
That still counts, thanks for the support!
I gatta change the linkages on my commander has new bushings in the front hopefully this solves the loud banging issues coming from the front end

It is best to tighten everything on the ground to prevent premature wear on the new bushings
How long were your sway bar links? Did you have to get any longer links for your lift? I'm getting a 2 inch lift and my mechanic saying I need some that are at least 10 inches

What’s the diameter of the stud ? I’m looking to replace my links on my 91 w150. Thanks for the info!
Cool video. Do the links come in different sizes for lifts?
Other brands do offer them in different sizes depending on lift size.
Doing these now, thanks for the video
Thanks for the video great job explaining
Love the channel bro
My brakes are shot on my 99 jeep buddy said I need everything pretty much what cheap route can I take junk yard or is the a site people sell jeep parts please help if u can and thanks for all the tips
I would hit up Rockauto or Oreillys. At Oriellys you can get a rebuilt caliper for roughly $25 after core charge.
Thanks for the video!
in order to do this properly, do I have to jack up the axle or can this be done without it? Btw, really informative video and thank you for posting
I suppose you could do it without jacking up the axle but it's going to be tight and hard to work on.
I came back to the video to see if someone had asked this already because I wanted to know as well. Thanks.
Awesome video!
Buen video saludos desde veraguas
Are you able to replace the large bushings without jacking up the Jeep or loosening and/or removing the links? Thank you!
You can but it's easier to access when the wheels are off
Got a RC 4.5” lift kit and when I got it installed the links it came with for the driver side has been leaning against and causing a very annoying squeak why is it like that tho?
Axle is not centered. You need to have an adjustable track bar to center the axle.
It’s a year later Austin, how’s the replacement bushings holding up? Also did you notice any difference with the replacements? Thanks for the video.
The parts fit with no issues, I sold the Jeep a few months ago but they were doing fine then
Is there any Must need tools to do this other that a rachet, hammer, and jack/cinder blocks? I am just starting out and have basic tools.
Not for this job, it's pretty straight forward and basic tools is all you need
Any recommendations/links to parts/brands?
Moog is a great brand to replace with.
Would I need different size links for a 3in lift or is OEM okay for that lift?
Yes, either longer links or sway bar drop brackets.
My sway bar measured 25mm. The guy at the parts store said they didn't have 25 so he sold me the 26mm. Seems like going up in size would defeat the purpose. Any thoughts? Great video btw brother
There's different sizes moog makes and you can find them all on Amazon for under $10 a set.
I have been wondering if you need longer links on a lifted Jeep? Any thoughts out there?
You do, or you can use drop brackets for where it attaches to the frame.
I have drop brackets for the control arms. Haven’t seen brackets for the sway bar links...who has them?
Rough Country, Ironman4x4fab, Rustys Offroad
my passenger side t55 bolt has some sleeve on it and the link doesn't slide over it. Trying to find videos on it. recently bought my 98 Jeep cherokee classic. The guy removed stabilizer bar and links and all bolts. Doing this from scratch
The sleeve is probably rusted on from the old links, hit a chezel on the slit on the sleeve to expand it and slide it off.
@@OutJeeping I fixed it. You are right though. I tapped it with a hammer and it slid right off.
Any problems if they’re both not facing the same direction?
You would have a hard time lining up the links with the holes on the sway bar
Thanks for the informative video. Wear some close toed shoes when you're working in the damn garage.
I do for bigger projects but this is my normal summer garage attire lol
Pb blaster is your friend.
Cool
Could bad sway bar links like this cause death wobble when turning on a highway
No, sway bars bushings or links that go bad will not contribute to death wobble.
@@OutJeeping do you know what would, maybe it’s not death wobble but when I get to about 60-65 on the highway and when I turn I get a vibration that feels like death wobble but when I lower my speed it goes away, I don’t pull off to the side of the road and stop

Awesome!!!
What kind of grease did you use?
I used a marine grease which has good anti water properties. But any good grease should work. If you are greasing polyurethane bushings, try to use a silicone based grease.
@@OutJeeping ok thank you
Should use silicone grease, especially on rubber. Petroleum based grease breaks down the rubber. 👍
Thanks!
Where did you get it at?
I got them off of amazon, I believe AC Delco was the brand.
WD 40 bevor removing ??? ;)
Any penetrating oil of your choice is good.
Surprised you didnt go with the quick disconnect links...
It's a stock jeep so no need.
He doesn't use quick disconnect links on his lifted jeep lol.
got ball-joint link
The video for ball-joints is coming in a week or 2 but here are the ones I am using. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007N6OHI0/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
WD40 does wonders
This guy dose not believe in lub or a torch lol
WD40
Where in Wisconsin you at?? I am just north of Wausau....
Oconomowoc
