- In this video I will show you how to replace a rear Bump Stop / Axle Snubber as well as removing the rear sway bar on a Jeep Cherokee XJ. This process may be similar on other Jeep models such as the Grand Cherokee and Wrangler. I will show you how to replace the Bump Stops from start to finish. If you have any other questions that the video doesn't cover make sure to comment below and I would be happy to answer.

Glad I could help help out! New Jeep projects are always fun.
1998 cherokee sport upcountry for sale. 30x9.5 tires, 2.5 lift, a/c blows cold. Power everything. Nice inside and out. I dont fit in it. Too tall
Nice job Austin.Remember, when removing rusty bolts, heat is your friend...
can't be tight if it's liquid!
Great guide for us in the rust belt.
sold my soul to quadratec ... lol
What’s the best way to drill out those bolts? My bolts have all snapped off on both sides & im not sure how to get them out.
Mine too
He should make a video just for that😅
Nice work, thanks
battle wound hell ya now you done some work
Yup nothing is worse than those chrome lug nuts when the chrome comes off....
A simple part, but necessary.
I have an 01 xj what size drill bit and tap size did you use for it or recommend cause 3 of my 4 bolts snapped?
Super helpful! Thanks!
Thanks, very useful guide.
Where did you get the solid lug nuts? I keep running into non-solid ones.
I used DP Accessories brand on amazon.
Is this a stock height XJ?
As I can see both 74mm and 104mm bumpstops, and am unsure which ones i should use for my stock height XJ?
In the video I had a stock suspension at the time but was prepping for the lift I put on later so I put extended bump stops on. If you are sticking with stock suspension then I would go with the 74mm (3in) bump stops.
Love your videos! What size wheels and tires are you running here? I'm about to do a 3inch Rough Country lift and was what's the best wheel/tire combo I can run?
In the video I was at stock suspention and tires. Currently I am running a 3" lift with 31" tires on 15x8" wheels. Everything clear good with this setup, if you want to run a larger tire then you will have to do some trimming.
@@OutJeeping, thank you!
I have an annoying clunk in the back of my Jeep and I cant identify it. One of my bump stops is missing, i was wondering if it could be the diff hitting something?
If the springs are sagging in the rear it could be the bump stops, otherwise check the leaf bushings, shackles and shocks.
@@OutJeeping thanks, turned out to be a shock bushing. It was the same side as the missing bump stop. I think the shock was taking a beating and probably being over compressed because the bump stop was missing.
Do you have a video on front bump stops? I think mine are broken, or missing.
I do install new front bump stops in my 3 Link suspension video part 2.
Did you sell your silver XJ and move? Different garage your in now.
Yep Austin sold silver Jeep
Michel Antonio Morin do you know why? He had a decent setup there.
@@constructiontech1970 Had a great offer from a guy across the country. Was also time to move on to other projects since there wasn't much else to be done on the Jeep. And yes i finally moved out of my parents house lol.
If you don’t jack from the axle you’ll have a lot more room to work.
What size wheels and tires do you have?
On which Jeep?
OutJeeping Your red Cherokee in the video?
@@wyndhamgreenlawrollins7197 General Grabber at with stock alloy wheels. I do plan to replace the tires with Falcon Wild peaks at3w in the near future.
Sway Bar starts at 5:14
All four of mine broke😢
Ouffta 😔
💯👍
Anyone make quick disconnects for the resr
I don't believe anyone makes them for the rear because a lot of people get rid of the rear sway bar, but I could be wrong.
How much tall are u in cm ?
872cm
OutJeeping yoy mean 172 cm !
@@s3dal7rbi.3 Lol Just messing with ya. I'm 6' 2" so whatever that is in cm.
