    Brass please post more business videos especially on how to bid.
    Sharing this knowledge is so valuable for people like me trying to understand how to run a plumbing business.

      I agree sometimes the way they draw isn’t right within sometimes there’s a reason why they’re going around the bathroom.✌️

      I just walked this site and the only reason they avoided the restroom was to try and keep the RR totally out of the scope. The tile has to be removed any way so we might as well cut straight through on this one. I’ve only done like three or four jobs for this architect/engineer so I don’t know them that well but usually after five or six jobs, we start to understand each other, and I get a lot of flexibility in the plans.

    Brass- when calculating your labor cost for each man do you do their hourly rate or their hourly rate including overhead, which would be around 2x hourly rate.

    • @brasshouse-fireball
      @brasshouse-fireball  12 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +1

      I never work it out exactly by the hour but if you figure you have three guys on a job making a total of $120 an hour that’s $960 for an eight hour day of that crew But then you’ve got payroll taxes and benefits and shit so you really need to add about 30% to that at least so at minimum you need to figure $1400 in raw cost for that 3 man crew. I usually over estimate it. If I plan on a crew that size I’ll usual figure my cost at $1,800/day before I do my mark up just to give me some wiggle room. I find it’s a lot easier to overshoot everything by a little bit rather than trying to get the exact numbers. Speed kills.

      I do want someone to redo my website. I’m working on rebranding right now. I’m about to hire a company to redesign my logo and then we are going to redo my website. I have a website but it’s not public because I was getting too many calls from residential customers.

    You bid low, i guess you could call it competitive pricing, i need to be making way more on a project that size, rather then divide .7

    • @brasshouse-fireball
      @brasshouse-fireball  19 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +1

      it depends on how big it is but on a job like this i may do a 20% gross on whatever i figure my cost of goods sold is. I usually way over estimate on my cost so we typically gross 30ish% even when i put a 20 on it. I'm curious how high you can get your mark up on a job this size. what industry and city are you in. Im making this shit up as i go so im no expert. I'm still getting underbid by Union shops so i wouldn't even say I'm super competitively priced. I recently lost a remodel to a really big company that priced the job at 75k and i was at 85k.

      Don’t know if Dallas is doing it but a lot of those union shops have ‘market recovery’ where the union subsidizes their shop’s bid by giving them a check for that $10k difference to help them be competitive on smaller jobs where open shops usually win
