Piston engine helicopters use avgas, and turbine engine helicopters take jet fuel. This looks like a Robinson R44, so it takes avgas. The main tank holds 29.5 gallons, and the reserve tank stores another 17 gallons.
I thought it was the other way round: To fill both tanks to the rim, you start with the main tank, then aux, and then top up main. Doing it this way (since ever) I can fill both tanks to the rim. Probably is much the same the other way round I guess :-)
Nice video and tips but a bit surprised you didn’t mention the wonderfully flammable nature of AvGas. Like ensuring no one is smoking or with a lit flame nearby - aka it’s not quite the same a fuelling a car with gas
Yes those are good points. There are lots of good tips I missed. I also forgot to talk about what types of fuel you can use in different types of helicopters, like in a piston it's 100LL and in a turbine it's Jet A or B.
If the Auxiliary tank drains into the main tank, why would you fill the Auxiliary tank 1st so that fuel can drain out into the main tank ? Seems it makes more sense to fill the main tank 1st, since it doesn't drain into any other tank, then go fill the Auxiliary tank.
Do you have to make arrangements to purchase fuel if you’ll be flying for a few days? I heard you say that a full tank will give you 3 hours , is there a limit to how far you travel between fueling ?
Hey mate us kiwis like to wear polar flease jerseys so i was tought to ground ourselves against the machine before we open the fuel cap to eliminate any static. And my good old instructor would threaten me with a blood nose if i put the fuel card in my pocket so it always went straight bak in the aircraft. Nothing worse than rocking up to the pump and bugga me days no card;)
We do a little bit of sling work. Most of our slinging is done in training though. Not much operations stuff. However I think that will change soon because we are getting a cargo hook on our R66 so we should be able to do pretty good work with that.
Grounding to the Bear-Paw may not be the best idea. There is no continuity between it and the airframe. The strap the bolt goes through is painted and so is the skid, so no continuity there either. Putting the cap on the back seat is okay, but you may not be able to reach it in flight if that's when you remember you didn't put it back on the tank. How about putting it on the pilot's seat so you can't miss it.
100 percent agree with that bear paw bolt being a poor place to put the ground strap. Painted skid, painted strap, plastic bear paw. Total roll of the dice. That said, we've all filled aircraft without grounding straps or filled from jerry cans.
Assuming this aircraft runs on 100LL, Your fuel nozzle handle is green, indicating diesel. Try red for 100LL. Gloves and eye protection for proper instruction purposes por favor 😉
Haha no itshold be grounded to the official recognised bonding point not any old bit of pipe or structure! That way you know there is a correct static disapation path to earth!

Thank you, i couldn't work out how to refuel my R22 on Dayz ... now i know :)
I always put the cap on my seat, so I definitely do not forget to put it on again.
Thanks for giving me the information
Well Explained sir Thank you 🙏🙏🙏❤️
Thanks.. you should mention the type of fuel and capacity

Thanks, that was intresting
You do explain very well
well explained 🙏

How many gallons/liters does it take on the main/aux tanks. Thanks

Nick Gazard its not as flammable, ordinary car gas is more flammable. Jet fuel is basically kerosene which is not as flammable. Its quiet safe
As in jet fuel, which is obviously what most helicopters run on

So when you add fuel, do you always fill the auxiliary side first no matter the flight time?
I’ve always wanted to see this actually! I’d like to see a video about how you wash a helicopter- like a car I’m assuming?
Here is a link to my last video on how to wash a helicopter: th-cam.com/video/4Xtaguh_VuA/w-d-xo.html
My procrastination is getting worse
lmfao
Why isn’t there a plastic piece attached to the fuel cap?

Yes that's a good point, if you are using a company card that needs to stay in the heli than make sure it stays in there.
how much its cost you to fill 100 ltrs
What is current price of fuel per gallon today? Thank your reponse When are you going to lease the Bell 505?
mars GIA the fuel is around $6/Gallon CAD. I don’t think we will be leasing a 505.
🙋🏻♀️Which fuel is used in helicopter & aeroplane ????
Plz any one telll meee....😣
How many distance covered with one litre tell me reply
I was just randomly thinking to myself "how do people refeul helicopters?" and then I clicked this video.
now I know😅
i didnt see any spilage from the fuel
Cool. Question. Do you do much sling work. Or is it mostly charter and flight training school.?? 👍🏽

Pilot Yellow that's great. Can't wait to see more videos on that . Keep the videos coming .👍🏽
What fuel is it. Diesel or petrol or some other fuel ??
sms mms this is a Robinson R44 which is a piston engine. So it takes 100LL fuel.
i thike u are answering a diffrent qustion ,
what the typs of Fuel that u uesed it for this holc
They don't use fuel it's all a lie
Is there no lock on it? is that the normal way with helicopters?
Most fuel caps don't have a lock.
Small step ladder & a flashlight.
Or a chair and a lighter
Trying to watch you videos but we have guests over taking up the wifi.
Are you sure your air turbine engine uses fuel?
