Ive always admired how well the Combine ai in Halflife games commits to formations and battle tactics. Its kindof scary..
Not to mention the AI had to be dumbed down to make it more manageable to VR players!

AT LEAST NPC UNIVERSE HAS RETURN
the fact Ordinal rush behind Charge and then to the TIE fighter wing for cover....that is some good A.I right there, not to mention the smooth movement
Not to mention Ordinal stopped for a quick reload behind the Charger.
The beauty of HL:A's ai, it's kinda realistic how tactical the Ordinals are compared to the others. Using cover much more often then grunts, and using the support as cover.
The Storms winning that first round was surprising.
The Combine soldier was simply outnumbered.

It depends on how much heavy equipment the Combine has. That ATST would have given the Combine a bad day, but admittedly. I don't know enough about them to accurately say.

These combine are specific to the Quarantine Zone, an infested area of an occupied city the combine has. Their standard units are a lot lighter, and they have massive, intelligent fighting synths like Striders, Gunships, Dropships, Combine Guards (if you consider the beta build canon), hunters (basically heavy assault synths),and modified APCS. Not t9 mention orbital bombardments and ability to instantly teleport anywhere in the cosmos. Pretty scary stuff.
I love how the charger realized the firepower was overwhelming and decided to use it’s shield as a means to get close so it could use it’s shotgun more effectively.

just realized the reason why grunts was never used was because the storm troopers was the grunts but reskinned

My only gripe is that the Empire is only using their E-11s and grenades while the Combine units have some unit diversity: riflemen, LMGs, riot shields, etc. It seems kinda even, but if the Empire got some weapon/unit diversity like the Combine the fights would be a lot different.
It's a bit complicated, HL:A mods can only replace things that the game already has, in this case stormtroopers and their E-11's replacing grunts and their pulse SMG's

So the Combine Soldiers are So Strong that as few as 10 or even 2 is enough to kill an entire horde of stormtroopers.
Favorited the Combine side a bit here giving them different variants. Should've been Death Troopers or Dark

I feel there should be more different types of stormtroopers like scout troopers or death troopers
The chargers seem to struggle the most in these combine vs. combine scenarios. For one they tend to get confused as the way they pursue a single target directly influences how they engage from a distance. Chargers are programmed to pursue a single target (the player) and force them out of cover via slowly but surely walking towards them, and using their shield to protect from headshots. Once they get close enough they deploy their shotgun which deals major damage. In this case they seem to get very confused as to which target to pursue and simply stand in place and deploy their shield instead of returning fire once they get shot (something they seem to remember). Something that doesn't help is the fact that the "stormtroopers" who are basically just reskinned grunts have infinite grenades, which are essentially the chargers kyrptonite. If the grenades were disabled or maybe limited the charger would probably have a much better time.
Very cool at 4:25, the bug creatures were also a surprise lol. Combine definitely faired much better against them for sure

When talking about the combine we have to make a few things clear, we can’t count non-cannon stuff, which probably includes all the cut content and some synth soldiers from the combine. We don’t know enough about the combine to truly come to a conclusion on who would be victorious in a battle
Technically, there is no TRUE lore, it's kinda all up to the player as small parts of a much larger universe is slowly revealed, but it's safe to say the combine would still win with their better armor, weapons, and vehicles/synths that would destroy the AT-AT, AT-STs, And TIE Fighters/Bombers
Let's also put into fact that the combine are a multi-universal army, they would have MUCH more bodies and weaponry to throw then the Empire would have.
Pretty sure there are stormtrooper varieties like the shock trooper, scout trooper, jet pack trooper, sand trooper, shore trooper, death trooper, etc

You can also change stats and increase the units intelligence to make battles more interesting.

Fun fact ceramic armor is almost immune to heat base weapons considering it can basically touch the sun it’s self.
so if blasters are ionized gas then a carbine would be immuned to blaster fire if there armor is clay base
The combine would win by a mile if they had to fight Stormtroopers. Against higher ups like Jedi or Siths? Yeah, I could see them struggle, but thats when the Advisor comes in.
Advisors would clap with the telekinesis, but the dark energy bullets used by combine might prove more difficult to block as they don't move as slow as blaster fire does.
I'm impressed these storm troops survived through lunch time, let alone the battle.

Yes I do, otherwise they wouldn't fight each other, since stormtroopers are modded combine I have set a different team for each side.
I like that even that even the Stormtroopers grenades are thermal detonators.

I really wish we could make NPC act like real people as it become painfully clear after a minute you're just looking at 2 dumb bots duking it out.
There’s something so scary about hearing the regular voices of the stormtroopers and then hearing the overly mechanized and robotic voices of the combine

Combine definitely won. Deflecting shots? The ammo would melt and the debris would still hit the person with the lightsaber

@@illuminatorgd3137 Not easily. I'd reckon a few decades of fighting before complete conquest by the Imperium. The Galactic Empire does maintain control over sixty million plus worlds after all and they still possesses a fleet of millions of ships and an army of trillions of troops. An invasion by the Imperium would probably unite the Empire and various rebel factions temporarily so it wouldn't just be the Empire.
Physical kinetic bullets would due a lot against stormtrooper armor, since its meant to protect from laser/plasma blasters instead of kinetic rounds- almost would probably crumple like plastic against bullets. Not to mention the tactics Half Life Alyx NPC's have due to learning it from earth's tactics- basically, Plasma blaster would easily penetrate our modern body armor today, as our modern weapons and guns would penetrate Stormtrooper armor today, unless I'm wrong.
In the lore armour in star wars is supposedly so effective against against kinetic projectiles that it's nearly impossible to kill someone wearing armour while using projectile weapons. When asked about Endor and the Wookies the general sentiment is "we don't talk about Endor." Some transhuman units do use actual Combine weapons though and they're not bullets. They're weaponized dark energy.
The bullets used by combine are Dark energy as @Reaper08 said, and modern guns do exist and they're called slugthrowers and are ineffective to near useless against armor, while very effective against sith and jedi as for you can not block or deflect the projectile with the lighsaber. but the Combine would still clap considering their weaponry and synths(+the use of biological warfare/Crab shells)

1:00 ok THAT was cool! Ordinal runs to take cover behind the energy shield emitted by the Wallhammer before running off to better cover under the TIE Fighter then gives out a direct command on who to target with the hand gesture.
