- Hey hey everyone!
I wanted to do this for a long time and finally did finish it up. Sorry for the sound quality, im a poor peepo with no real equiptment to make better voice overs. anyhow, here the griffon tutorial!

If you want to practice flying, id suggest starting in queensdale to train the basics. its a nice map with enough hills and objects to take off from, and enough bridges and caves to practice the controls.

This was incredibly helpful, thank you! I was having problems with the "infinite" flying - I always felt i lost a lot more height than i gained back with going up or i'd lose all my speed somehow and end up far lower than i started the dive. My griffon riding might still be starting out, but thanks to this its a lot better than it was at the start of tonight.

Perfect! I already knew most from the previous guide and my own learning but I'm sure new riders will find this extremely useful, you covered everything in enough detail and in an easily understandable way, the button overlay helps a lot too. And don't worry about your voice, it's lovely :)

Getting all the masteries from all expansions to comfortably fly around with Griffon is a total grind that might feel longer than getting skyscale, but is completely worth it.
The more gryphon guides I watch, the sooner I want to finish getting mine and the less I care about getting Skyscale as well. Man that gold grind is a pain.
Griff is def more fun! But skyscale is a good mount, although bit underwhelming to me

hope it helps! my way of spiralling , you might need to get used to the about face key, but it becomes easier than the other way of doing it once u figure out how it turns you. for me, it feels like i just squeeze the mouse and it works haha
Earlier today, I learned how to do the infinite height trick while launching with my springer and I couldn't be happier! 😁

Thanks so much. The camera setting made a huge difference. The moment I maxed my field of view, my eyes really widened up by the view and I was able to judged quicker when to flap back up. Got the Griffon a few days ago but I reckon it'll take more time to master the flight.

Amazing guide! got me started this week with the griffon. BTW for others without a skyscale.. bunny jump dismount > glide > jade bot gliding booster - gives enough height to pull off a dive boost from minimal elevation! Even better with the level 2 or 3 service chip.

You might need to get used to the about face keybind, but for me it feels so much more comfterable once you figure it out

I'm not sure why I've never watched this one. But watching it is definitely making me consider using my character "Mini Atlas" as my main. I usually play charr so it's a little harder for me to know just how much space I have. Thanks for making this :)

Heya everyone! Finally did make my own guide for griffon, hopefully it helps! sorry if the sound is a bit meh, i dont have good equiptment for it haha. Maybe ill do a reupload one day once i got a better voice-over. Sorry for my voice and my pronounciation sometimes xd. Hey hey thank you! I hope it will help! The swirly dives can be a bit tricky but becomes easier overtime. For me it really helps having about face on my mouse, made it much easier for me atleast

I knew a lot about this but the trick with the soul cakes is pretty good! My biggest trouble is the fact that I don’t know the hit box all that well. So thank you!

Thank you a lot! I use the point-tipped corvus skin and the chak and vermilion greatsword are the trails i usually use(chak is the lightning looking one)

its very possible to fly forever! (Or well, untill you either crash or need to get yourself some dinner or so lmao)
It takes some practice but its fun and once youre able to control the griffon well, it really benefits exploration aswell :D
If you are looking for a place to practice go to Metrical Court Waypoint in Rata Sum, you can jump from above and dive up to 2 speed. And if you crashed just teleport back with 0 cost ;)

I learned a lot from you, but I have a really hard time at maintaining the speed buff while flying horizontally. I can dive and go up properly, but it seems like I can't keep the speed buff for a while as I can see you can with yours. Do I have to flap (space) the wings more often or just tap space rapidly to do so? Btw, thanks for sharing your tips. Awesome video.
In case [Wing] is not aware, one can dismount from skyscale mid-air, and then simply remount to griffon. One does not need bond of faith when using a skyscale to gain height. Simply get to a good height, after make your default mount griffon, then mash the mount/dismount button and bam, you are now off Skyscale and on Griffon. Dive and boost to your hearts content.
Yep we know that! Its in my second guide, this guide was made before that skyscale/ griffon update was a thing :D

my issue is i wanna get the fastest possible flap so i dont crash into ground but sometimes its not happening, even i feel when im at 100% endurance
For keybind, I have my rise as #2 and it has inadvertently blocked other #2 uses. Like story mission where you ride aurene and she gives you skill #2, or canach casino game, have to mouse click those #2. So just keep it in mind if you plan on using #2 lol
Awesome video. I just have a question. Which skill did you bind to your right mouse button? I see you hold it while flying at high speed close to the ground/water. I didn't get what it is for.
i use it to steer with! :D ( i dont use action cam personally)

Thank you for this guide. I tried the springer start height but couldn't dismount springer to mount the griffon mid-air.... help please
If you press the dismount *before* the jump you get launched, but it needs to be right before you actually jump

Do you need Aerial Finesse to be able to get great height back? I seem to just be falling very slowly when I'm diving / climbing, I never get higher than the height I started
you need all the griffon masteries to properly use the griffon yeah, the last one is the most important as its the extra speedboost. with that extra speedboost, you can fly much longer! ( press spacebar while diving for that extra boost! )

So just to be clear you could theoretically fly anywhere a skyscale can given some more effort and skill? Sounded like you said that somewhere in there but maybe I misinterpreted. I don't have a griffin but if there's a way to gain altitude with it I'd be farming that asap.
basically, you only need bunny +glider for everything, but griffon already makes it easier and skyscale does aswell ofc. griffon can gain altitude, but not the amount or in the same way skyscale can. skyscale is basically a second bunny, it can go up, a bit higher than bunny, but looses altitude while flying and will glide down eventually. griffon is different, it needs start height ( which u can get with bunny , skyscale or just a ledge) but it can gain additional height. to put it like this, they work like this : imgur.com/a/U3yZ81t so basically, skyscale goes up then down, griffon goes down then up. griffon is better at keeping altitude and can climb a little, skyscale is good at getting altitude but cant keep it. with griffon you need to play smartly with the map. but, it can be super usefull in open world, you can get through whole verdant brink within some seconds etc

for the griffon mastery were you already in the air and descended and clicked play to get 23 sec?
IDK why I tried to flap mid drive but it never activate speed increase for me, no yellow aura and I continue fall bit by bit unlike in this vid. I have all mastery, I get into high mountain in PoF and it stilll won't work. If I try to flap when I was in speed mode (The 1st level) it will always cancel the speed mode every time.
skyscale is bus and griffon is taxi?
2:45 may i know how you dismount your springer in air? (that enables you to switch to griffon mid air)
If you press the dismount button riiiight before the jump, you get launched without mount and can switch to griffon midair :D

how long can you fly? or is it with proper training as long I want? Yet to unlock Griffon so can't try it out yet :3
As long as you dont crash and maintain the altitude from time to time, you can fly endless. It does depend on your start spot and how good you are at regaining height, but if you want you can fly as long as you wants :D
@@ThyWeepingWillow Neat, I only knew that Skyscale can hover but can't fly for ever and Griffon was/is fastest mount (roller beetle?) but didn't know you could with skill and masteries fly as much as you want considering ... been in progress of getting Griffon since last summer, slowly but surly as I do most of the content beside WvW and PvP that much ... Hardest part is getting the gold when you also get Ascended gear :3
i have a burning question for those of you who are familiar with stunt flying -- can it be done on 300ms? im asian and this is more or less the ping i have to deal with due to distance. from what i understand im to wing flap once during dive but after i press the spacebar to flap, the actual flap comes much later than i wanted during the dive and i end up hitting the floor sometimes. with higher heights this can be done. but from what i see, i'm supposed to be able to do it from springer high vault height. which im not sure if i can do on 300ms delay on all my inputs. can anyone please advice? thank you
Wingflaps always have a bit of delay during the dive, just spam it so it flaps at around 70% of the endurance bar.(dont keep spacebar pressed, just tap it, other wise it brings more delay)
Luckily ping wont be a problem for griffon! It doesnt affect its movement💜
Try starting with a bit more height than needed untill you are comfty with it

Hello this is a great video but I have a question. I am a SEA player playing in eu with around 250 ping. Can I still fly like this?
Yep! Ping doesnt really affect flying at all luckily. I once did fly with over 4k ping and it went fine, only problem is when you would use skills or dismount /remount is delayed, but for the flying itself, that is unaffected.

i cant reach the height you reached with springer on the ground. how do you do that? and when i dive the speed does not last long
Pressing the dismount at the last possible moment makes your jump higher. To make it a bit easier for yourself, find a little thing you can stand on for extra height or get the gliding booster upgrades from EoD. They will make it a lot easier and more forgiving.
And to make the boost speed last long, you need to do the wingflap during the dive. Once you have done that, avoid pulling up and use wingflaps instead. Tiny pull ups make you lose more speed than you want
But what do you have set to the right mouse button that sustains this speed? For me, only when holding RMB, the camera changes (well, then it controls the character as if) :D
Ah okay I know. But all in all, it turns out that you can't stay in the air forever anyway because the griffon is constantly lowering the flight a bit.
@@morgoth7822 actually, griffon can fly endless!
but you will need to pull up and dive down every now and again. My mouse buttons are purely my camera controls, and my dive and climb are on my keyboard. Its important to use the second speedboost. If you fly close to the ground, you can get ground effect and lose less height. You will slowly lose speed and height over time but it takes long, you can fly atleast a minute without ever pulling up as long as you flap :D and when you feel you lost too much height, pulling up and diving down a few times makes you regain height.
In total, you can climb about a bunny jump height higher than starting point

For some unknown reasons I can’t dismount from my springer without using bond of faith :/ have they changed this or is it a key binding issue?
Its a timing thing!
You want to press 'dismount' right *before* jumping, not when youre midair! Timing might be a little difficult at the beginning but gets easy once you have done it like 4 times :D

no those arent needed. they are handy to have, but griffon masteries are what make you fly infinite(+ skils), not the crystal champion ones. id suggest getting all though!

@@_saph servers dont matter outside of wvw in gw2 as its mega servers! Only regions matter (eu/na)
If I remember correctly there use to be a glitch where you could get infinite height by diving and quickly going back up, has that been removed? Or is there another way
Griffon has been nerved with the heightcap, so you can reach only a bit more height and not infinite, but you can always regain lost height though. But yeah, sadly the nerf. However, there is a way to hover with griffon which also gives infinite height, but it takes a bit to get the height

Those are crystal champion masteries! (Living world season 4)
Bond of life (gives your mount your healthbar for a moment)
Bond of vigor( extra energy for a moment)
Bond of faith(yeeting off the mount)
Really wish the instruction for the spiral dive was better worded. Like when and how to use about face and the right mouse button.
Its why i did use the overlay, since its hard to explain the timing. Its more of a feeling you need to create for it. You can check the keybinds i did use at the keybinds section. You can also try it by using a-d-w in this order but the timing stays very specific

I tried the adw method and it was a pain so i gave up. lol. Very new to how to actually fly the griffon. Had no idea what it was capable of. Thanks for the vid.
@@TycoTyrannus about face is on the side mouse buttons for me(its a bit small on the screen). Its in the order strafe- about face- right mouse, and to make it a bit easier, spinning your camera the opposite direction of your spin will make the timing slightly easier but its not super easy to pull off, there is in both versions of the spiral dive a pretty high failrate untill you get comfty with the timing

@@TycoTyrannus no worries! I tried setting them on the default for the vid- outside of the about face which didnt have a default haha. Hope it will work for you! Its a bit tricky but once you get the timing its pretty fun!
Are all the tricks in this still legit? I feel like even following this Im pulled down to the ground quicker than whats going on in the video, was anything nerfed?
nothing has been nerfed! all the tricks are still the same, if anything, its been buffed with the jadebot :D but timing is very important with everything. make sure to get the timing right. for starting from flat ground, using jadebot gliding to get a bit more height to make it easier

Hmm this doesn't work for me. My rise doesn't work
make sure to check if you dont have double keybinds, sometimes, certain keybinds interfere with others. if you are unsure why it doesnt work, try resetting the keybinds to default and see if it works then. ( its an annoying problem to have, but i have seen people with that problem before)

I normally use esdf for movement, v for dive, c for pulling up, spacebar for wingflap, Griffon mounting on middle mouse button, about face on side button of the mouse :D
Unfortunately, a flying mount as far as I am concerned that already needs height to fly is a waste of time. I've tried learning the Griffon only to end up very very annoyed. I want to play the game, not be annoyed by silly mechanics. With a ping of 200ms from Australia, the Griffon is just stupid as you hit the ground without knowing it. Great video, but now I know why most prefer the Skyscale.
Ping doesnt affect griffon flying ;)
But you can use skyscale aswell as griffon considering switching midair is a thing. Griffon can, unlike skyscale, fly endless once you actually fly and doesnt need to land every 10 seconds
I absolutely hate this mount. Most wasted time i ever had to unlock it.

surprisingly, like, most everyone i meet in the game. there is a ton of people who never figured out how to use this particular mount. Though the mechanics seemed logical to me, they arent logical to everyone. but outside of the base mechanic, some tips and tricks might help some improve their flying a bit more. like the wingflapping under flat surface. that wouldnt be common knowledge to everyone i guess.
