Deepest condolences to the friends and family of this young man. Amazing video; incredible skill and courage on both his part and the camera guy. Family said that he told them that he had just had one of the "best days of his life" seeing the northern lights in Iceland. He sadly died in a plane crash with several others. The plane went down in a lake in Iceland. May your next life be filled with love and adventure. A charity is being set up in his name, to help several causes that he was passionate about. I may not know what I’m talking about, but growing up there & traveling these roads daily. I would think is the best way to really know them. Although If there is someone that could go do a few days scouting & still ride hills like this, I applaud you as being exceptional good at your craft!

Just want to point out that wearing a closed helmet helps breathing which in turn makes the speed trivial. Not saying it doesn't require skills. But at that speed with nose exposed, air is sucked out of your lung, heart naturally beating faster and lack of oxygen creats panic. Riding a motorbike with helmet at 50mph doesn't feel fast but with face mask open it just feels so much faster

The only thing between you and death(or severe injury) is a plank of wood, two trucks and four wheels. I've never felt a rush even remotely close to bombing a huge hill in my life. Great vid as always. Btw this location is called "Napoleon's Road" (Route Napoléon in french) and its in south of France ~1hr away from Cannes/~1h30min from Nice. I worked over there last year, very enjoyable views & peaceful place but its a pain when you got to do some shopping as most big cities are quite far away. Cheers

I'm in the exact same boat up here except it's even worse cos I'm on an island lol, I'd recommend Vermont and NH except I don't know about many steep spots that aren't either in cities or on highways, neither of which are ideal

Matthew Crane physics. He's got a controlled center of gravity which helps maintain valence when eating bumps and wobbles. Plus he's going way to fast to get hung up on small cracks or stones.
See those big red wheels? It’s harder for those to be stopped by cracks and pebbles. Also they’re probably soft. I’ve been skating for years and if you know how to distribute your weight right you can go over pebbles pretty easily

He's on a freaking scooter with a go pro mounted probably on the helmet. It's a country drive for him. He has breaks a seat and a throttle to control his speed.
The way he handles bumps is very impressive. Especially the one at 2:13. The bump or drop in the roads heght at that speed is very nice handling and technique. You can tell he prepares for it in advance. It must come from much experience.

How fast were you going i am a cycling guy and i went down this 900 meter descent 45mph it was like being in heaven
