This dude was a God to me. All his pics taped to my walls, listening to the 1st Motley Crue album, then sleeping next to my GT. Those were the days.

@@G4RY1159 funny story, I had on one of the first Haro freestylers in the state of Colorado, I want an ESPN flatland competition and 1st prize was any color frame and fork GT Performer. I picked a yellow one with black mag rims. Six months for me to get that bike from the bike shop. I would kill to have that bike back. I think I sold it for 100 bucks back in 1989. What a shame.

@@maximuswedgie5149 Yeh I hear ya man, I gave my bike away to a young boy who pretty much had nothing, I just turned 16 and was leaving a care hostel, the boy always watched me do tricks and he didn't have a bike, when I gave him it on my last day he thot I was joking and started crying.
It was a Redline frame with Black mag wheels with white wall freestyle tyres but they were in rough shape.
Often think about building a new bike but just to put up on the wall as a memento.
Thanks for the story, I understand it all.

back then, when a roll-back or a 180 was the coolest trick ever. The heros of that period! Without these guys there wouldn't be any BMX or MTB today

i think old school freestyle would not do well today since people expect to see someone fly through the air to get their thrills. that many people turning out today for such small stunts would most likely be very disapointed.

freestyle is what killed BMX, took it from the #1 kids pastime into a dead sport because freestyle was too dangerous and too difficult and cheap starter bikes couldn't do it, the appeal of BMX is that the original bikes looked cool and almost everyone could do it, even kids without ball sport hand-eye coordination... it had broad appeal while freestyle did not... killed BMX... and BMX people haven't figured it out quite yet because modern BMX is too fast, too dangerous, does not resemble motocross anymore, not much actual pedaling just coasting, chemically prepared hard dirt tracks... the way you tell if it's BMX is if they have to sit down on the seat (like on a motorcycle) and put their foot down around the corners... if not, then it's not BMX.
