@jcbiggs Actutally, it's Client-Side-Hit-Detection (CSHD) working as intended. As I said earlier, it may not look as if he shot you when he comes out of a roadie run, or in any instance, but if he shot you on his screen, you're going to feel the effects of it sooner or later. It prevents those instances when you KNOW you point-blanked someone, and they kill you but you don't kill them. This almost never happens anymore because of the DK mechanic. And the host issue has ALWAYS been a problem.
@SprunkG Need to see it from big picture standpoint. It isn't about the particular strat, it is about the changes you make over the course of a match and the mindset you take when you determine strategies.
@daitouzai Usually just played Annex for fun/practice when not running MLG settings. We ran Horde a bit when the game first came out though, and we play other games as well.
@jcbiggs I'm fine and I do play often - Title Update 6 helped with a ton of those bugs and glitches found which a lot of the other ones didn't. I can play that game now and if I happen to lose, it would be my fault for playing poorly. The fact that it has become partly CSHD instead of completely SSHD helped gameplay IMMENSELY imo. The game runs -almost- seamlessly now. I much prefer it the way it is now than the way it was previously. You'd be foolish to think nothing good came from that update.
@Displace77 Best way to go about it is to play a ton and anything you play someone good try to add them as a friend. Be very active on community forums and make sure to land on a team even if you still plan on searching for something better. Better to be playing matches, but need to network just like finding a job. For me personally I climbed the leaderboards and constantly played against top people to get onto my teams (RoC and vBi). If you get in the games then you've got your foot in door
@littlefrank90 Should post this on the review, but we had ours early because they were pre-production units. Making a couple dozen controllers is way different than making several thousand.
@Skyllus Great job. Don't know if you mentioned this in the video(might have missed it) but which team had host? If it’s you guys, cali usually has it right?
@Skyllus Yeah, that's why this is still helpful. But right now strats on gears 2 are so weird. There are hardly any ways to push, all you can do is wait for inks and frags to make pushes. Security is so slow paced right now... And the new shotgun does not help that at all. Usually end up pressing the button to surprise them with a mortar flank... otherwise the match just drags on untill finally someone dies by either nades or ink and even then it's hard to push a 5 v 4 on that map.
@Ebonyx Yes, in some cases, I would agree. I do practice. I'm not saying that some of it isn't due to a lack of skill. But, sometimes, I get straight BSed. I just don't get how you don't see what I'm talking about if you play so much. There's a time to blame it on yourself and there's a time when you know that that kill was yours and the game took it from you.
@jcbiggs And this is why there is access to other weapons besides the shotgun such as the Lancer, the Hammerburst, -any- Power Weapon, Grenades.. it's honestly not very difficult to kill a host anymore. My upload is terrible so I never host games, but I can never tell who the host is because the CSHD allows me to fight on par with just about anyone on any connection, host or not. And all the shotguns are the same power, it's just the host can potentially be more consistent with their dmg output.
@xXchrisdacrazyXx This is just the tip of the iceburg with the strategy stuff we had going on. Wish we'd been trying to communicate it all back when we played.

@jcbiggs I could have said that truthfully Pre-TU6, but unless you're warping while you play, its basically the player's fault. Yes, sometimes it is stupid, and u die, but u gotta accept it. I won't deny GoW2 is a flawed game, but some things you just gotta deal with. Don't take it too seriously. If you die, do what I do - Learn from the mistake you made and try a diff. strat. If the shotty didn't work, down em with a Lancer or HB and THEN shotty him. Try somethin else if it doesn't work.
@Ebonyx It's pretty stupid that I'm forced to rely on either lack of skill by the host, or using power weapon, grenades etc. to kill him. And the CSHD doesn't always pan out the way it's suppose to. For example, me coming up behind someone and pulling the trigger on a shotgun up the dudes buttcrack him making the sound "ughh" then turning around and blowing my head off. I'll stun someone one time with a melee and, then the next, he doesn't even flinch and blows me away. It's random.
@5OLDI3Rz2010 I'll probably crank out an episode on that, but in the first episode on pushes/fakes/grabs there is a stalemate where I showed what we did on Pavilion. Going to completely change for GoW3 though, so will cover it then for sure. Stalemates happen in GoW2 because of weapons not respawning like GoW1, unfortunately. Hope GoW3 fixes this.
@jcbiggs The shotgun is strong, but thats simply because of the way the pellet spread was designed. The two pellets in the middle do more damage because they're guaranteed if you hit a direct hit on someone. & the Hit Detection is bad? It was way worse Pre-TU6. Now, even if it is a laggy host, if you hit them, they take the damage & the DK is only fair. Would you rather leave it to whoever had the faster cntion to host? You hit them on your screen, they hit you on theirs. It's annoying but fair
If only I could apply these with three other people. I've tried countless times to find people that could play the game well, were dedicated, and lacked an ego... Have you been in my position before vBi? How did you end up finding eachother?
@Ebonyx And that's where I have to disagree. The double kill is not accurate. You shoot them and then a second later you die. That's not fair. It's lag. And the host system sucks. I don't know if it's the codes or what. But the process they use it flawed. They tend to pick the laggiest host they can. When I get host, I get nothing but compliments. I try to have the best connection I can. Another thing about hosting is the sore losers who can't take losing and leave.

I mean, if you're not actually seeing what's going on the second it happens, what's the point of refining your skill? The game = BS. On top of that, I mean the host has better hit detection than anyone else. Coupled with a very powerful shotgun, it's hard to kill him.

@Ebonyx What about double shots. I mean, when I shoot, there's two shots instead of one. Melee doesn't respond when I tell it to. Things don't connect either. I'm just saying the game isn't balanced because of these connection issues. If they can fix this such as this in GoW 3, then this conversation will be pointless, but watching an interview from CliffyB saying that this game is polished, is straight BS.

The shotgun is rediculously overpowered and coupled with a bad host, the hit detection is bad, and worst of all, the double kill stupidity. If you magically haven't run into thing such as this, look it up on here. There's proof of why people hate this game. I'm not saying I do, just hate some of the BS that tends to come my way.

I respect the view of the game you have, but the host has always had a harder hit and even have, on occasion killed me on cover or behind cover (without proper angles). While I'll admit there are times I deserved to die, there are also times when I should have been able to kill them. Let's just cut to the end of this conversation and say that I hope G3 irons out all the wrinkles.

It's so funny watching GoW2 gameplay after playing GoW3... the movement is so clunky it's almost like comparing Pong vs Mass Effect.
