Oh maaaaan do I love my brother John the Baptist. He was blunt, and no fear, and didn’t care what others thought cause he knew wer he was going, and knew his true duty, and didn’t care who anyone else was either. He went alllll out.

John says, I came to path the way..... I love how humble John the baptizer was, the way, the truth 🙌 and the life, eternal life through our Savior Jesus Christ 🙏

Excellent video. There are more questions:
    1. Why did John have disciples at all? Dig deeper?
    2. The Esseni were not just one group; they were many. They differed in beliefs, practice, and custom. In what ways did the differ? How were they the same?
    3. Did you know that some Essene sects also "ate bugs"? There are recipes found in the DSS.
    4. Did you know, according to Hippolytus, the Pharisees were a sect of Esseni? Plug that in to what you know and see where it goes.
    5. Did you know that the Qumran community thought of themselves as the ones who were preparing the way of the Messiah?
    6. In Luke 1:80 we are told: "And the child grew and became strong in spirit, and he was in the wilderness until the day of his public appearance to Israel." So-John was in the "wilderness" from the time he was a child until the day of his public appearance to Israel. Why? Who raised him? Not Zechariah. Not Elizabeth. Who? I want to propose that it was an Essene group and perahps the Qumran community.
    7. Did you know that there were two versions of Messiah coming? One with one man twice and another with two men, once each? So, when John sends his disciples to ask Jesus, "Are you the one we were to look for or do we look for another?"-John was asking Jesus which version of Messiah coming was true. The Essenes believed in two advents. Therefore, John was asking for confirmation as to which version was true. Jesus gave him his answer.
    8. Part of Jesus' answer to John included "the dead are raised". So, not only did Jesus confirm a single man (Himself) coming twice (two advents), but He affirmed this with the raising of the dead. There is some conjecture that the Essenes saw raising of the dead as a solid proof of Messiah by way of expectation rather than being surprised by it.
There are plenty of evidences that lead us towards a concrete understanding of John as being raised by, belonging to, being trained by, and even leading an Esseni sect. His having disciples goes to the heart of this conjecture. It is quite hard to imagine John as some lone-wolf crazy hermit living in the desert. If that were the case, he would have no disciples.
You hae brought up the conjecture that Jesus and John may well have seen each other during Jerusalem feasts. Perhaps so, but that is supposition. If John was being trained and raised in the desert, what is the likelihood of him traveling to Jerusalem for feasts? Maybe. Maybe not. That would take more investigation.
Most folks assume that Jesus just "knew" scripture because He is the Son of God and Son of man. I don't think so. I think He was taught and perhaps taught by an Esseni group in his own town. There were plenty of Essenes living all over Judea. We know this because Hippolytus tells us this in his history, written in the 3rd century. So-it may well be that the link between Jesus and John is more to do with Yeshiva (schooling) as well as close family ties. Surely, Elizabeth would have communicated to Mary that John was in the wilderness being trained because of his calling-both angelic delivery of the message and priestly through his father.
John the Baptist is indeed a very deep character in scripture. There is a lot we can know and not just from gospel texts, but from DSS writings and other evidences, including archeology. Jesus' links to His cousin are also of deep interest and I am happy that you made this video and brought this material up for "the rest of us". :-)

John had "WORDS" of wisdom. Even though he didn't perform miracles , his voice was a sword of Truth and Life for the populace. So it's unlikely John the baptist would have come with emotional outburst like "YEAH!!" after Jesus cast out demons LMAO

I think John the Baptist was humble because he knew his purpose. He knew that he was to prepare the way for the Lord. He did not get caught up in his fame or work. I think it's hard for us, because many of us struggle with insecurities and feelings of worthlessness. We strive for value in our careers, ministries, and human's approval. God is teaching me that who we are in him is all that matters. I never realize the Elijah also wore camel hair. The only connection I knew of John the Baptiser, (prior to this video) was when Jesus told him he was Elijah.

    • @tomrhodes1629
      @tomrhodes1629 2 ปีที่แล้ว

When you know EXACTLY what you are and EXACTLY why you are here, you cannot be anything BUT humble. GOD's prophet, the prophesied return of Elijah, speaks in these end times: John WAS an Essene. The Essenes were not ALL communal. Mary and Joseph were also Essenes, and so Yeshua was obviously born into the Essenes. But of course, "Jesus" transcends all doctrines and groups. And He followed the SPIRIT of the Law, which is LOVE, rather than the symbolic LETTER of the Law, which men misunderstand and corrupt. Spirit gives life; the letter kills. See the meaning?
I am the same soul that came as Moses, then Elijah, then John the Baptist, and now as described in Revelation Chapter 11. There's much I can share with those who are ready. Click and ye shall find. (I don't receive TH-cam comment notifications and communicate only through my websites.)

Yes, he didn't want to kill him, but had to for his oath's sake. He likely had put John into prison to try to appease his unlawful, vindictive wife.
      Luke 6:20 and 25-27
20For Herod feared John, knowing that he was a just man and an holy, and observed him; and when he heard him, he did many things, and heard him gladly.
      -
25 And she came in straightway with haste unto the king, and asked, saying, I will that thou give me by and by in a charger the head of John the Baptist.
26 And the king was exceeding sorry; yet for his oath's sake, and for their sakes which sat with him, he would not reject her.
27 And immediately the king sent an executioner, and commanded his head to be brought: and he went and beheaded him in the prison,

I learned as a child at church that Mary and Elizabeth were each with child when Mary came to her. And that when they met, the baby in Elizabeth’s womb (John the Baptist) leapt at being near to the baby in Mary’s womb (Jesus). So John knew before either of them were born that Jesus was the Son of God and what his purpose in life was to be. This is in the Scriptures. Luke 1: 39-56 ♥️😊

One correction to the Christian world, Uncle John did not eat bugs, i.e., locust that eats plants, he ate the locust seed or the Robina pseudoacacia or the black locust seed. The Hebrew people had strict dietary laws. John, being a Nazarite, would never eat a single bug. I humbly share this knowledge passed to me by my bishop. May the Lord Jesus continue to bless you and all your viewers!!!!!

Being between Leviticus and Numbers in my devotion, I'd also cite Sukkot as a commemoration of "God's second chance" when He relented from wiping them out as a result of the golden calf incident, as this feast follows within the same month, Yom Kippur, and then what followed that relenting was the 40-day reiterating of the plans for the portable Tabernacle that would now be where He would dwell with them on their travels, and then its construction.

The fact that you all still read "scripture" through 2,000 Years (72 Generations) of humans and hold it to task of what the original word was, is amazing to me.
I can hardly keep a conversation with 1 person over texts, yet you think the original message of Christ has been completely sterile for 2,000 years.
OH my goodness, bless your hearts.

I saw a Jewish Christian that lives in Israel, he says that actually what John ate wasn't actually locusts as insects , but some type of seeds from a tree????

John was the cause of the crucifixion of Jesis.
John 1:21 - They asked him, “Then who are you? Are you Elijah?” He said, “I am not.” “Are you the Prophet?” He answered, “No.”

Now I see more clear about John. I made the paint of John head on the plate. And that night I had a dream about the paint on which I saw John with a mustache. And next day. I put the mustache on the face. If we see the situation on England. Where one person was divorced so she could marry the Successor to the throne. I'm sure that John wouldn't stop talking and probably he would get his head cut again. Praise the Lord Jesus. AMEN

May we pray for one another so that we might achieve what our savior desires us to be. Salvation 101 is to draw others to the salvation which Jesus Christ embodies; the salvation of our souls, our placement into eternity. We must let go of ourselves and embrace His Godliness!

Great simplified videos for anyone to understand with biblical texts to support the arguments.
Have always wondered though as well whether additionally the decapitation of John was also not symbolic of decapitation of his ministry so the entire focus could go to Jesus
