    JP STRINGS, amazing! One of my favourite patches... :) Cheers Max!

      Mine too. I like JP Strings 2 better overall. But JP Strings 1 would be great in soundtrack type music I think too. It's interesting considering the age and tech available at the time that Roland was able to capture the "analog" feel of those two patches so well. They don't feel like samples.

    Thank you for the great vid and info on the JV-100. The strings sounded very mystical/magical. When I saw the bass portion I was half expecting the intro theme from Rocky :-) lol Im gonna go do some price checking on the Roland now :) Look forward to watching more of your vids. Makes me want to go warm up the keys on the old Thomas organ. Haven't played in almost a month. I'd make some more vids, just need to figure out why the audio is always so low first. Keep up the great work!

    hey max ! can we use roland sr-jv expansion cards with jv 1000 ? are they compatible ?

    • @MaxThompsonMusic
      @MaxThompsonMusic  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes - there's space for one SR-JV expansion board in the JV-100/JV-90. I plan on adding the Session board to bring some of the sounds more up to date, but any of them work. There's also a slot for an SO-PCM1 card and a memory card for user patches.

    Please help me, my jv1000 is stock on one tone no matter the botton you press to change the key it won't change😢.

      Do you mean the buttons aren't working for changing sounds (i.e. from piano to brass)? If that's the case, it's likely that the switches have worn out. My JV-1000 has a few buttons that are starting to be less responsive, so I've tried to be very gentle with it. I'll probably have to replace them eventually. This guy has a good video on that process: th-cam.com/video/Rl19XuHi4o0/w-d-xo.html

    Hi bro! Can u do samples of this keyboard in wavs?

    • @MaxThompsonMusic
      @MaxThompsonMusic  2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I'm not set up to do that, but Roland Cloud has a JV-1080 plugin that covers many of the same sounds. I do think the JV-1000 sounds a bit different, but the basic sound is similar (it's more of an EQ/saturation difference, partly from the sample rate being 32kHz on the older JV's).

    Thats a perfect video please record bank C and D and also a review of jv 1000

      Thanks for watching! I will eventually. These days I am at college almost seven hours from home (and my keyboards), and I need to replace my audio interface as well. I just wasn't able to because the computer I was using had a memory failure and my audio interface isn't compatible with anything else (it's Thunderbolt 2 and doesn't have a 64-bit driver). So when I can I will. Banks C and D are where all the synths are. I also plan to cover the factory user bank and drum kits, plus the performances. I don't know about an all-in-one review at this time as I don't use all the functions it has (I haven't done much with the recording features or expansion boards, for instance).

      Thank you! I am in fact a professional musician. I've been performing professionally for about ten years now. I'm currently a student however at college.

    I realize it’s been several years since you’ve made this video but I have a quick question. I own a jv1000 that I recently overhauled to get rid of all of the red glue. I never noticed this before but when I power it on I notice a very very slight hum coming from the area around the power supply where the plug is. Can you tell me if you notice the same slight hum coming from where the plug is plugged in on your keyboard thank you.

      Hey Al, I don't recall if that is something I remember or not - I'm away at college and the JV-1000 is back home, but I will be home next month for a few days and will try to check that out for you. Congrats on overhauling the board!

      Thanks. By the way, I love these videos you have posted here on YT not to mention that you are very talented

      I checked my JV-1000 yesterday when I was back home - I do not hear any sort of a hum around the power supply area or anywhere else. Is the floppy drive running by chance? That's the only other thing I could think of.

    • @2008alde
      @2008alde ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MaxThompsonMusic ok thanks… as I may have said, the hum is very slight. It’s more noticeable in a very quiet room. If you out your ear very close to the top of the synth new the power switch are you certain you don’t hear anything? Anyway, I think I became fixated on it whereby it became more noticeable but now I am just enjoying using it so it’s not something I concern myself with. Question…did your synth exhibit the problem with the red glue? Again as mentioned I spent about three days disassembling the synth to remove the keyboard chassis, remove all the keys and soak them in the lye solution. Once all the weights were removed and the keys were spotless, I glued all the weights back and reassembled the synth. It plays well and sounds great. It was installed with a voice expansion module for free when I purchase it, but like anything else, the manuals are somewhat difficult to decipher. Once again, I appreciate the feedback. By the way, I am a drummer but a very novice keyboard player. I like dissecting pop tunes by finding the chords on line and then using different chord forms to hear the various voicings if that makes any sense

      Hey Al, I did actually put my ear up to the PSU area and there was no noise whatsoever. My unit didn't have the red glue issue to my knowledge - however, I bought it used in 2018 at Music Go Round and it is entirely possible that a previous owner redid the keys/gluing long before I got the board. My JV also has a VE-GS1 board installed (that and the VE-JV1 were the expansion modules available) - it's something of a pain to work with but I don't use the sequencing side of things much on that particular board, so I will just dial up a sound or two off of the GS1 board occasionally for recording or such. I haven't tried to integrate it in a multimbral capacity with Performance mode, as I've just stuck with the regular soundset for that.

    Still very usable sounds, good review Max, congrats! Both the JV90 and JV1000 have 2 extra banks that are not in the other JV and are plenty off fantastic sounds!

    seems a wide range of sounds in this synth, could be used in many different genres.

    • @MaxThompsonMusic
      @MaxThompsonMusic  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree. The orchestral sounds still hold up fairly well in a mix. Off the top of my head you could use this for rock, dance, metal, and soundtrack music, with certain sounds working for other genres. And of course 80s-90s covers. :-)

      Hi there,
      To my knowledge those songs were only available on the demo disk that came from the factory with the JV-1000. Someone might have them online, but I do not. Ask at the RolandClan forums, Musicplayer Network Keyboard Corner, and look through the SynthZone website links (use the Wayback Machine from the Internet Archive to access some of those old sites if they don't come up now). Good luck!
