For future reference, it's Chass-E not Chass-is 🙂 The TRS balanced jack is standard for balanced device to device connections in the pro-audio world. No doubt that it takes up a lot less space on the back panel. Without looking at Physical specs I would guess the choice was made to allow reuse of existing chassis tooling. It's another way to save costs. That isn't a bad thing, especially if it's going into the product's performance instead. Nice review!
I currently have Marantz pm 6006 + Dali Oberon 3 + dac Cambridge magic 100. Would it be worth replacing Cambridge magic 100 with Topping e50? What would be the difference if there was one. I didn't have another DAC. Thanks.
I bought the Topping E50 and it only shows pcm and 44.1. I have tidal hi-fi plus and it doesn't recognize my dsd and mqa. I do not know what to do. Do I have to return it to you? If someone can help me. Thank you.
@@burghelvasile3313 What do you use to drive the E50? Streamer or PC. If PC you might want to check the settings. But remember that FLAC files at Tidal often are 44.1 and 16 bit - or CD quality.
Please forgive me for the trouble. On the Topping E50, while I was listening to music (I was sending a signal to the amplifier), by mistake on the remote control I switched between the RCA, BAL and RCA+BAL outputs during operation, after which I switched back to RCA. Can something happen? Thank you.
If you want to improve the sound quality of the Topping E50 get a proper Linear Power Supply. If you want to be sure to get the correct one you can just get their Topping P50. The sound quality will improve, the seperation will be better and clearer and it will be more responsive. Ifi power supply is really a joke compared to a proper linear power supply.
As an owner of SMSL SU-8 DAC, I have to point out one HUGE downside not mentioned here. The REMOTE is your only way to control volume. Once it breaks and your volume is not set at neutral, you end up with $270 door stop (paper weight). My SMSL uses the same remote (one of the lowest quality remotes I have ever held) and I AM CURRENTLY ON REMOTE nr. 3!!! Otherwise the review is good, but I feel like this has to be pointed out as it would be a major disqualifier for a lot of people, as it is for me...
might be able to get a d90se to review so look forward to that. honestly i doubt the e50 stands a chance against the d90se as it can’t beat the smsl su-9. but no one should expect it too because d90se is 3x more expensive and full desktop size with built in power supply
I have both and even when one is connected to the amp via balanced connection and the other just SE they sound EXACTLY the same except there's a minor change in the soundstage with the E50 moving a bit higher and a tiny bit wider. I'm 100% sure no one could tell the difference in a delayed A/B test.
@@hartyewh1 i currently have both also, and i can hear a clear difference but only with my e1000i planars, with akg k702 there might be slight increse in imaging but not much. E30 is harsh and some female vocals are too much. E50 smooths those out. With speakers there is no difference, atleast with sub 1000 e category, i dont have expensive speakers.
@@NoVoiOvi I'm convinced that doing a blind A/B would not show that. The research is clear that knowing what you're listening to changes your perception.
@@hartyewh1 i was convinced too that i could not hear a difference. I think the main improvement is in the psu. When i used my pc usb as a power source e30 had a Major fuzz sound, switching to phone usb charger cleared that out and now same charger in my e50 works even better
Hi Ryan... can you convert the TRS output to RCA by using a TRS to RCA adapter or adapter cable giving you two sets of RCA outputs possibly working simultaneously at the same time?
Balanced connectors carry two signals, same signal as the single-Ended RCA and another which is an inverted signal. So it is possible to use a TRS to RCA cable to use only the non-inverted signal. Need to make sure the cable you get is wired correctly. Or else that second device will be 180 degrees out of phase with the other device.
I have the topping L30 amp can I use the E50 with my amp ? I don't care about balance , not interested in xlr cable input..can someone answer that question
