I don't think they'll ever dismantle Starhopper and put it on the scrapheap as it represent a significant milestone for SpaceX, if Starhopper is ever relocated, I think it will be to special place dedicated for it, where people will be able to come and visit.
The plot twist: they are carefully disassembling the Starhopper only to load its parts on a starfleet and move it to Mars. Imagine Starhopper casually standing near emerging base, lol.
FWIW: When you see photos or videos showing that launch tower in its entirety, the _chopsticks_ do not look that large. When you see up close footage of people ACTUALLY WORKING ON THEM you realize just how BIG they truly are.
yeah I'm hoping that the building with triangle opening is a place for Hopper and that it will become a mini museum for public... but part of me is preparing that it will be scrapped and I will never be able to see it
@@witchdoctor6502 the builder is an office (so probably no public access), and i very much doubt they'd scrap it. i imagine it'll be immortalised, somewhere.
It looks like they plan to put it on display in the office building. There's a triangular opening in the roof which is the right size and shape for Hoppy to be lowered into.
The material you called welding blankets is what we call Salmon Cloth and it is used for building a containment for welding operations it comes in big rolls so you can trim it to fit
@@NASASpaceflight it’s more as a fire retardant. So the slag and hot molten material won’t splash onto other things and potentially cause a fire or stick to something you don’t want it to stick to. It’s acrylic coated fiberglass. You can wrap it around things like a pipe or an electric motor you want to protect or drape it around the general area like a curtain, you can do all sorts of stuff with it.
Thanks Das and NSF team, I appreciate the closeups and comments. I'm conflicted because Starhopper indoors would protect it, but spacefans would no longer be able to take a Hoppy pic.
Used to work on towers and yeah standing under them while people are working is tense. Stuff gets dropped. It just happens. If someone up top yells “headache” then you run.
Starhopper needs to be preserved in any capacity possible. @NASASpaceflight, can we get a rotation for the narrators, each time one fills in they bring something different and refreshing?
Thank you Mary!!! Thank you DAS!!! Always love hearing your voice!!! I brings me back to the beginning!!! It's great having your voice for consistency.
Nice - Like the last video , very good infos and so :) It is so amazing how the whole area change - I know this area where was NOTHING :) and now a high-end spaceport is grown up. Nice.
Fingers to increase the load spread for welding on the area of the pipe/arm section that is being reinforced. Gives it a much stronger weld, harder to tear or break that area
Fine update. Thank you! I wish you could up whatever on site audio there is to go along with Das's commentary. Its fine the way it is, I just think it would be better with some background site sound. Thank you.
the odd shapped door way on the ground level of the star base looks the same shape as the underside of the starhopper, is it by any chance near the void in the building and roof? like they will put star hopper insider that opening?
Since you asked the question - 'Does anybody know what a Fig Newton is?', do a Google search and you'll find out. I do question these shock absorbing pads staying in one piece during the lift off of the Booster. I'm thinking the flame front will just cook the cores. Guess we'll find out....
The bottled water supply and the ice storage freezer were an interesting point below Starhopper. I Wonder where they will put them. Also the night shot just after showed most of the water had been used.
I updated the location of Starhopper on Google Maps back on Feb. 17th, and by August 13th the new location had logged half a million views. Looks I'll need to be updating its location again, shortly. (Starhopper's entry on Google Maps had added 100,000 views (bumping up from 300k to 400k) in just the seven days between July 23 and July 30 ... indicating a whole lot of people were then planning their trips to Starbase in anticipation of (what was then suspected to be) the imminent fifth Starship flight test.
Not enjoying the narration like most people here, I muted half way through, but I like to hear the background noise and read the description, is there going to be a on/off switch?. I've watched Das on other videos talking to astronauts and NASA and enjoyed it, so I'm not hating on him.

Thank you NSF for the latest narrated Starbase (no so daily) Daily ;) I enjoy the humor that Das adds as well as pointing out some details I may not have noticed in the "ambient sounds" version. BTW, I like that version as well.
This scene remains of the back to the future 1985 movie. If a guy from past and see usa and spacex landing and catching the rocket. He will be awe struck. He ask 1 question how will you do that. Currently that kind of questions running in my mind very futuristic.
New Merch launched last night, check it out! shop.nasaspaceflight.com/
Thanks again John (DAS) for Starbase Radio and your commentary!!! thank you NSF!
Your narration is great! You point out things that I would probably miss. You've looked at all of Starbase much more than I have!
It is kinda (part of) my job. 😅 - Das

Thanks for the content guys.
I wouldn't watch this without the commentary thanks for adding that in, it makes all the difference.
I like "Impact Mitigation Buffers"
😂😂😂😂 Love this
Pillows! Just pillows :D
Loving the narrative and always good to hear Das!

They should put Starhopper in a museum. SpaceX should build a museum to record its history.
Humm, good idea. 👍

Love DAS in these videos!
Love the "Scaffolding Fungus" refrence
Love Mary's photography!
Thank you Das,I love your infomative comments, thanks also to Mary and Jack 😊
really enjoy these catch ups great job
I like calling them crush pads. Loving the narration… and pausing for ambient sound!
TBH that Flame Trench was one of the best I can recall, the "spicy" takes on somethings was refreshing
Appreciate it! - Das
The material you called welding blankets is what we call Salmon Cloth and it is used for building a containment for welding operations it comes in big rolls so you can trim it to fit
To help with shielding gas retention if I'm not mistaken? -Das

It’s great listening to DAS get excited about camera stuff 😂. Another great video. Thanks so much
I like the laughing at the shot captions. Gives it a real off-the-cuff vibe to the video

I don't think I could ever watch a non narrated video now. It's so good!
its like im watching the daily with my good friend, john galloway
So much better with the narration! I will actually watch the daily now!
Yaasss ... DAS!!!
Love that guy!
I didn’t realize starhopper was so big!
Yeah the whole rocket is next level massive. It would actually make the saturn5 look small especially when shipv2 is added.
I think they're moving hoppy near the new office building alongside with b1019
I bought some fig newtons today. Lol😊 but I'd call them bumper pads.
These spoken road-side journeys are fun Das. Please keep doing these laconic and chilled takes
Das narration is making these so much fun
Fig Newton YUM!!!!!!
Still enjoying this free flow banter 👍
"Booster bumpers" for the chopstick cushion things
I thought of that too, but what if you modify it to 'Boostbumps' ? (Goosebumps) 🪿🤛🏼 ** Chopstick boostbumps **
thanks for being there
Thank you Mary!!! Thank you DAS!!! Always love hearing your voice!!! I brings me back to the beginning!!! It's great having your voice for consistency.
Not many people calling them water towers now, old school texas tank watchers rule😅😊
You could call them "Catch Cushions".
Das' commentary keeps you watching the whole thing and not skipping ahead. Another good episode of Friday night Starbase radio. lol

Giant suction cup is exactly what they're using to handle those large panes of glass wall.
Thanks Das!
Great job das ❤
I love how this almost like a Das reacts type of narration. 😁
Keep the voice coming
My gosh these are some fantastic shots. Thanks so much. 🤩 (by the way. . . Fig Newtons 😋)
Yes..." Fig Newtons " use to be cake & Fig encased Cookies...
Nice job!

Call the chopstick pads ‘Bouncy Castle Bumpers’😅
The Pads look like Fig Newtons
Lifts are the new launch mount
What's wrong with Fig Newton?!? Fig Newton ftw! It even has "Newton" in it, which is totally appropriate since its function is to dissipate energy!
Hey there! :D Dont we need a time lapse video of starbase progress ? that would be so cool!
The hopper is going to the courtyard between office building and starship factory.
