  • “I see your badge, but I’m telling you, your speech is slurred, you reek of alcohol,” the arresting officer tells Cincinnati police Capt. Amanda Caton at one point. “You’ve put me in a bad spot.”
Capt. Caton and her husband Patrick, also a Cincinnati officer, were visibly and audibly drunk when Loveland police pulled them over Sunday night. Caton was charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated.

I don't know the laws there but here mere possession a weapon while intoxicated is not a crime. Here, it's a crime if:
      1. Intoxicated,
      2. In the persons hand and loaded,
      3. The person is not engaged in legitimate self defense.
So even if you are drunk and someone attacks you or someone else , you could defend yourself or defend the victim of the attack. It would be unlawful to be hunting or target shooting while drunk.

Melissa Mccarty the night wasn’t over, they both may have been charged or may be charged at a later date which would effectively end their law enforcement careers. I guarantee that this will be pleaded down or the firearms won’t come into play, she’ll get the OVI and hopefully she wasn’t more than twice the limit which would make her “super drunk”. In this day and age of Uber and Lyft, it was hubris that let them think nothing would happen and it’s so easy to avoid.

I was pulled over for having an expired registration in VA, while it was snowing in december.
They said I couldn't drive the vehicle to a parking spot or leave it, and had it towed away - and when I asked for a ride at least to a gas station (literally on their way out about 3/4 a mile) so I could wait for my wife to be able to pick me up from her job (because it wasn't freezing in there) they said they weren't a taxi and it was my problem and drove away. I was respectful and apologetic throughout the entire encounter, they left me to walk the 3/4 of a mile to the gas station in the snow while it was about 25º out, and I keep my heavy work jacket at work.
The towing costs sent my paycheck to paycheck ass zookeeper life into a spiral that took nearly a year to climb out of.
This vehicle has 2 drunk drivers attempting to abuse police privelege, the passenger a belligerent ARMED drunk shouting at the officer.
The officer that pulled them over is pleading for a reason to give them a lesser charge, offers to drive the guy home AND parks the car for them so they can avoid the tow.
And they disregard gun charges for both.
    Honestly, the fuck.

Your a disgrace to humanity and to anyone who has lost their 16 yo child ir any child for that matter, that you just brought onto their knees in tears.
This is a fn hero for the way he treated his fellow officers.
I wish every single officer was like him.
The fact is, whether u want to te believe it or not, the police are humans. As himans, they are allowed to use what is called officer discretion. He used excellent judgment and discretion.
Now if it was anyone else, with a loaded weapon, they probably wouldn't have gotten a pass. N not for the same reason, why? Well because she said I have a weapon, almost immediately. She didn't wait until he said im putting the cuffs on you. Or try to hide it and claim she didn't knkw it was there. Full accountability and responsibility goes a long way with police.
If the guy was driving, he'd of gotten both from this guy, no doubt.
He didnt slam him solely because he was looking out for her. Didn't want to ruin her night even more by locking up the husband on felony charges.
Add to that, if ur not a scumbag, they generally will easily get reduced to a misdemeanor even a summary charge many times.

Why would you apologise and cover for a criminal? Why would you tell her you respect her when she doesn’t even respect your and her job? Why would you let her out of a night in jail? Why would you not charge them for having their patrol gun outside of the job? Why would you let her not do the tests but somehow it’s not a problem even though your hands are supposedly tied? Why would you not make her take her high heels off to do the tests as you would a non cop citizen? Why would you nearly cry and beg for her to forgive you/not get mad at you when she’s in the wrong? Why would you guarantee her getting home? Why would your college not intervene when he is witnessing you not doing your job and deciding how to deal with it with her instead of following the simple laws?Because she’s a cop.

That’s why the justice system is screwed. Because the police don’t follow the law the law is the same for everyone not just a certain few.

    • @fyt54321

Expect the FOP to loudly protest any disciplinary action. Because obviously patrol officers should accept the OVI excuse "I just live down the street" and "I'm a police officer if that makes any difference". This is EXACTLY what gives police a bad name. When police fck up they should own it and not think they are above the law, that they think applies only to little people without badges.
