An improved B-Wing is overdue.
No way
@@benIg82 Yes way, Beta.
The original B wing is one of the best UCS sets.
Crazy to think the last one was 11 years ago!
On the one hand, I would love to see an improved B-Wing. OTOH, I’m not seeing much they need to-or could-do, within the constraints of existing parts and TLG’s expectations of buildability and sturdiness. It really is an amazingly good model. I suppose they could do a custom mold for the windshield/canopy?
Plus, if it’s enough better, then I’d want to buy it, and my budget only goes so far. 😉
It feels like the wings should have been one or two studs longer or something. Agreed with the comment that the bigger engines make the wings feel shorter.
They do, but the s-foils are also 1 or 2 studs further out from the fuselage, which means the s-foils should at minimum 2 studs longer, or 4 studs longer with a closer connection to the fuselage.
I wonder if it was to try and avoid the sagging wings that previous two had problems with.
@@lukerope1906 bei 7191 sind die Flügel sogar gerne abgefallen.
@@lukerope1906 this new UCS set looks SO MUCH BETTER in person. its' insane how much better it looks irl, and it's all in the wings locked in attack position. huge improvement
I would’ve preferred a UCS ARC-170, but if the rumors are true, we are getting a UCS Venator this year. That would open up a lot more possibilities for prequel UCS and MBS sets.
Oh yes absolutely! I'll be very curious if the Venator rumours are true, I think I've heard them for years but with it seems like multiple people confirming things like the set and the minifigures it seems rather likely. Which would be nice, I've wanted one for quite a while.
Had to pause this video and leave you a comment on how much I enjoy watching your channel. Your wit, knowledge and even your accent keeps entertained. Thank you for your content but most of all thak you for you being you!
I missed this last time round so I for one am happy this is coming. I do agree that other ships are long overdue but with this out of the way I hope Lego can then focus on those moving forward. I hope the gwp is good otherwise will wait for this to get cheaper.
gift with purchase is a midi scale death star
@@jkirl thanks I had no idea it would be that. Instant purchase then 😁
Possibly warranted and a bit better than the old one, though very similar. However X-wings were oversaturated mainly in the smaller scale, it would make more sense to try an actual bigger one. As a reference it worked for the Razor Crest, while still quite new ship, both sizes and designs are great.
people think it's the oversized engines that make the proportions look wonky. but studying the design, the problems appear to be the wings not sitting flush with each other, and opening too wide in attack formation, making the engines look Even Bigger. also the nosecone being too wide makes it look stubbier than it should
It's bizarre to me that they open too far, but don't close far enough.
holy shit lego is killing it this year. this set looks amazing and improved in every way
I love it! I just got it and I can't wait to build it. I am super excited about the small number of stickers and the awesome prints for R2-D2 and Luke!
I was really hoping for a UCS Tie Bomber. We've never had one.
Yeah, ditto...one day maybe
It's an updated X-Wing with a really nice collapsible wing feature. Too many sets and that price range I'm looking at now to really justify or really want. That and I think the 2018 X Wing is already near perfect functional and displayable enough. Looking forward to the review though.
The 2018 UCS X-Wing was my first Lego set, saw it when buying Duplo sets for my son…. That started me down the broke side of the Force
I was waiting very long time for my first UCS X Wing set. May 2023 that is it.
Same here, can't wait!
It would have been nice to see some other ships get the UCS treatment like the resistance bomber or the jedi starfighter. It would be cool to see both Anikin's and Obi-wan's jedi starfights released a the same time and also have options to display them together on a combinable stand. LEGO could really step it up and also include an alternate build for the jedi interceptors as UCS versions too.
They released a UCS Jedi Starfighter in 2011
This is a proper review - nice factual details
A lot of people have expressed negative feelings on this, but it is so much better than the 2013 model. I think the box art doesn’t do it justice. I never got the 2013 set, so I will be picking this up for sure
The box art doesn’t matter my problem with this set is it’s our 3rd ucs X wing and there is just so matter things they haven’t made in this scale and we end up getting the X wing again.
I have a blue and grey Lego X-wing that I bought 8 years ago
I think its pretty special
I think, some design solutions versus accuracy suffer from the lego system of basically having studs 2,4,6... and not 3,5,7... it's not only the engines which now appear too big, it is also the nose / front portion of the hull. But I really like the hexagonal shape and that they tried to have more brickbuilt design elements/appearance. After all: Lego allows only an abstract interpretation of a thing and therfore compromises are necessary.
I would’ve preferred a tie interceptor for the 40th aniv of Jedi.
But the xwing looks nice.
New X-Wing - what a surprise :))) I have the previous one, and it seems that something is wrong in the new model. Some kind of disproportion..
Maybe they wanted to increase the diameter of the engine "intakes" as they have also increased the width of the nose part to balance out the proportions. Personally, being a Star Wars fan, but not an enthusiast collector of the LEGO Star Wars theme I´m quite happy with my 75218 X-Wing as a play model to have at least some representation of the ship in LEGO form.
1:13 RacingBrick: [X-Wing] is the most iconic spaceship from the Star Wars universe.

Millenium Falcon: Am I joke to you?
I think average folks would recognize an X-Wing sooner than the Falcon
Thanks for the review. I have the Red -5 kit and was thinking of getting this too, but don’t think the changes are substantial enough
Considering that this year marks the 40th anniversary of Return Of The Jedi, an UCS version of a B-Wing, TIE interceptor or the Home One Mon Calamari cruiser would have been more appropriate releases.
THe engines look disproportionate because they are slightly away from the center hull when the s-foils are closed, to allow room for them to open properly. That then makes the wings look shorter than they are and throws off the proportions a bit.
The s-foils should be at minimum 2 studs longer, and the engines should be 1 or 2 studs closer to the fuselage. Even in the top down overlay with the 2013 version, they're MUCH shorter.
U-wing all the wayyyyyyyyy baby but honestly there's a few really really good MOCs out there for it mr.idler, alifornia design, papglop but I'd still really like to c a official LEGO UCS u-wing set!!!
I like your common sense witty humor.😊
Wow, you make great content!
I missed the last one so I am glad to have another chance. If I already had one I’d probably wish it was something else.
They took what could have been a boring remake and instead made a Bold Retro Mod ... Love it!
UCS imperial shuttle please!
Honestly in terms of scale it doesn't fit the collection I've built but great for a display piece, However the price is way off as typically you see about $20-$40 license fee then about $0.10 a piece in terms of count so not sure why its $80 more then it should be. I guess with LEGO converting to more eco friendly packaging (years overdue) and non sticker plaques with inflation etc we must pay that, Gladly won't ever buy sets that outrageous in price but the star destroyer was well worth it and I assume the Venator will be as well /fingers crossed.
Mandalorian N1 starfighter, or the original N1 would be cool for UCS!
I feel the new engine size is more accurate to the source, but the wings are too short: Another 4 studs overall on the total width would have made all the difference.
Completely agree about the fin/flipper pieces: They add nothing and don't look anything like the original. The last UCS did that better
Love your content, as always!
You are totally right. The engines are too large or the wings too small. Nevertheless the moccers will improve this fault. I am sure. If I would have the money, I would buy one. I only owe the 5 Euro polybag xwing. But there is also a problem concerning the dimensions. I am looking forward to your review of the actual ucs-xwing. Keep up the good work. 😊
I was excited for this release, but two things really hit me.
The first, obvious sticking point, is the engine intages and cowling. Too large and yes, that affects the overall appeal/look of the wings.
Secondly, teh gap between the wings in 'X' position is way too large. The upper wings look just right, but the lower wings look like they're about to drop off, or have moved to 'Bi-wing' position. I'll pick up this set second hand and then try to fix it.
Thats the exact same problem I have with this Set. 😂
I had the 10240, couldn't find a place to display as it was too big, sold it after it went out of production for the same price as got it. Won't bother with this one, although it seems improved.
The big engines are preventing me from buying this one. It was the first thing I noticed on the pictures and it's a nope for me. Good news is, that saves me 240 euro's that I can keep aside for the UCS razor crest
We need a UCS ARC-170. If they can do an X-wing 3 times surely they can make an arc-170 once.
love that!
I need a UCS Venator, I have both the existing UCS x-wings but this one is growing on me.
They should have done a T-70 and not a T-65 if they were doing another UCS X-Wing. Or if they wanted to do another similarly priced UCS set, MATCHING Eta-2 Actis Interceptors in Obi-Wan and Anakin colors. That would have blown the minds of prequel fans.
I want a UCS B-Wing, It needs a big update. I'm happy with my previous UCS Xwing, this one seem very weird in proportion
I'd love a Y-Wing.
The most iconic space ship from SW is Millenium Falcon, not X-wing
hard disagree
A UCS speederbike would’ve been my pick.
Yes that is the Death Star 2, which Luke was fighting Palpatine on, so he could not have been piloting his X-wing. That R2 model may have been a different droid, because some R2 models have similar paint markings to other R2 models. This means that it is either not R2-D2 as the astromech of a different pilot of the Red 5 X-wing, or it is just a mistake by Lego.
It's definitely R2-D2 so...:)
I just don't understand why are there so much studs showing at this level of model (UCS)? Especially since LEGO did an amazing job with the UCS Razor Crest.
I guess because it is LEGO 🤷
I've been looking forward to lego launching a jedi temple ultimate collector with the temple guardians, it would be epic 👌😔
Passionate about star wars and team dark side.. so my first xwing was only last year.. an ebay poes black 1.. because its black! and probably the best model of it they've made. The chrismas xwing is also nice but not paying that much. I was going to say definitely on sale.. but i can see the major problems with the proportions as you say. Will have to see it irl first i think.
00:47 yep it’s a mistake. Luke’s x wing wasn’t anywhere near the death star II. But it’s not the first time LEGO has made dumb Star Wars mistakes. Like the recent tie Bomber set being branded with the 40th anniversary Return of the Jedi logo- the Tie Bomber doesn’t appear in ROTJ, it only has ever appeared in Empire Strikes Back.
06:29 yeah it seems they upsized the engines then didn’t bother to match anything else to that increase. It’s especially apparent in the comparison overlay you did with the old UCS set. Really I think if they were gonna make the engines six wide, they should have at the very least lengthened the wings.
Wrong the tie bomber did appear in return of the Jedi it’s shown at the start of the movie.
Is the new windshield the same as the old one from 2013? Just printed? I would like to get one to replace the windshield of my 2013 x-wing
7191 reigns supreme by proportions alone
the new one looks very 'clean' though
I've been collecting SW sets and figs since 1999 but somehow I've managed to miss the original UCS X-Wing and the next iteration as well. While I'm glad they're re-re-releasing it so I can finally add it to my collection, I can't help but wonder if this is just another money grab by Lego. I mean the X-Wing has been redone over and over again and it seems like they're going backwards on appearance in some cases. I'm also noticing that Lego is going back to their old ways of creating too many unique elements, which got them into financial trouble before SW sets bailed them out. Greed is really strong in many companies right now, and I fear Lego isn't immune.
Hard to believe it's been 10 years since the last UCS X-Wing already! Did I miss it or did you not mention the wider nose? If you compare it to a blueprint of the x-wing it's way out of proportion.
I like a lot of what they've done, like the greebling at the back, the more accurate shape of the nose and the brick-built details on the wings. Unfortunately in the process the proportions seem to have been lost. Last time the engines were to narrow, now they're too wide. The perfect size at this scale is an awkward diameter to do in Lego. So the engines are too big, making the wings look short, the nose is too wide....
I'm not sure that on balance it's an improvement.
I'd much rather have seen a ship from Andor, like Luthen's ship, or an Endor speederbike.
I feel like they were trying too hard to match it to the same size as the 2013 version as well as that same old canopy piece, instead of scaling it all up a little bit and creating a new specialized canopy mold. Hell, they did it with the LANDSPEEDER of all things.
I’d kill for a UCS arc 170 but we don’t really get many sets from the prequels anymore
Overall it looks like Lego has improved the individual shapes and panels greatly but in return the overall proportions now look more off than they ever did before.
I´m not sure about how i feel about that.
Either the wings look too short or the engines too big and the new nose looks way too fat.
Also the color is way too uniform, I prefer how the old gray nose looked on the model.
The mechanism nob on the top also sticks out like a thore thumb, I prefered the old hidden solution of the previous iteration.
It´s a display set and not a play model so the mechanism taking 5 seconds longer to open the wings shouldn´t be an issue, especially if it negatively impacts the look of the model.
I think the wings are a tad short in relation to the body of the vessel, especially if you compare it to the old previous version
No a bad looking set. Think i will wait for a discount as well
nooo I was thinking of buying this model, but after seeing the part with the wings, I'm bothered by how small they look!
The size of the engines are putting me off otherwise I like the set. Look forward to a closer review once released but at the moment the proportions will not make this a day one purchase.
The bigger engines are not perfect, but they are much better then the previous small ones in my opinion.
Why haven’t pod racers been considered for a UCS set yet?
Took me a bit to notice the too big engines, but ever since I cannot unsee them... also, I think the cockpit window is a sticker again, I see sticker borders at 4:11....
same once i noticed how goofy it looks specially with the foils open
How much you want to bet it will be heavy discounted by black Friday?
Crazy that fans complained that the plaques were stickers and now they’re complaining that we can see the mold mark because they’re printed.
That's how true fans react :D
For Red Five during RotJ:
We see Luke fly it from Tatooine to Dagobah to the Rebel fleet. Luke leaves for Endor on the captured Imperial Shuttle, and not sure if we see Red Five again in RotJ. But just like how Lando flies the Millennium Falcon during Battle of Endor, it seems reasonable that another pilot flew Red Five, because why would the Rebels keep a starfighter on Home One during an assault on the Death Star?
According to Wookipedia another guy was flying during the battle of Endor with the call sign Red Five, but he was shot down. It's a weird choice though to create a box art showing such unlikely scenario.
it is 2023 now & UCS set yet still missing the landing gear on X-Wing.
The engines should've been 5x5. Not sure how they would pull it off but it would be the most accurate size
nice man :)
Still waiting for USC Slave One 😎
The engine size really kills it for me. Other parts seem definately improved, but the proportions are ruined by the engine size. It would be great to modify the engines based on this new set, that would be perfection as far as lego standards.
the original is for sale... PM
Look definitely did not fly his x-wing around the second death star
There was another red five. In rogue one he died
I really want a ucs edition of Mando's N1.
that's a great idea. an OG N1 with lots of chrome would be incredible too
Guys idk man I’m in love with this set. I’m confused by all the heavy criticism
I have the 2013 and just got the same vintage TIE so I’ll pass on this one.
Thanks for the objective review! Lots of doomers and overly critical reviews coming out, which seem pretty wild.
I want a tie interceptor
guess what? we're getting one in 2024!
I have set 10240 and in my opinion it is better looking than the new one that is coming out. As we have seen there are already quite a few X-Wing models out there do we need a new one? I don`t think so. Could Lego have made a model that we havn`t seen yet? yes they could have and i feel that they should. As for the price That depends Ultimate collectors series no A ultimate collectors series model should have been Bigger and far more detail. As for this one again i feel that they are just milking a name for profit (sorry if this offends anyone) but it`s just how i feel. Would i buy it No. The Last Lego model i have built was a MOC of the Battlestar Galactica Viper Mk II DuvDup Mocs Build and that is good. Why can`t lego Look at what some of these Moc builders are creating and Approach with an offer to put their creation into production. Might be a great idea. Who knows. I enjoyed the video as well. Thanks
As always.
Looks a bit on the chubby side if that makes sense. I think I prefer the more slender look of the previous model.
I assume there is a razor crest review coming soon. Am I right?
Apparently :)
Probably going to skip this. Will wait for an inevitable update to the Slave1.
You mean Boba Fett's Starship? ;)
The proportions of the engines and wings are definitely off. They appear Playskool like 😂
Engine size looks just wrong and makes it look cheap instead of a UCS release.
A májustól mindig félek. És nem alaptalanul. Hova fogom rakni összerakás után, nem tudom. Az biztos, hogy éjjel fent leszek.
Nehéz életed lehet, ezek komoly félelmek.
@@_sequence_1685 Ne is mond. Sok legót már csak azért nem veszek, mert nincs helyem ;)
I still prefer the 10240 set, theres something about it i just like better
NASA space shuttle is 2350p for 200€. THis is 1900 for 240€... That star wars licence is costly.
I think it’s clearly visible that the plate has a sticker.
Which plate?
@@RacingBrick I meant the collector plate. Don’t know how it is called.
@@christocan4710 since the injection point is clearly visible in the middle it is 100% printed and it doesn't have a sticker
@@RacingBrick Oh, yes. That’s true. Then I was mistaken. I am also much less of an expert and only thought I saw a line on the left.
I still prefer the 7191
Waiting for the chinese knockoff version
Those engines just look way off... and than there are those cockpit stickers... No, i will pass on this one for sure.
I will skip and save for the UCS Venator
That’s if it comes out as it’s not confirmed yet.
Personally, I think this new X-Wing doesn't meet the proper proportions compared to an actual X-Wing from the movies. To me, the wings and nose are much too short, and the 4 engines look comically large. In fact, the engines remind me of those Mickey Mouse ear hats you wear at Disney World. I think the 2013 X-Wing set (10240) looks more accurate to those seen in the movies. I plan to buy a 10240 set from ebay one of these days.
They need to do another UCS super star destroyer or even better, the Eclipse! Now that is a set I would love to own!
They need to fix the with of the ssd. Even the mini version released this year is too narrow
Engines on the old one were too small, engines on the new one look too big.
Kinda disappointed I missed out on original but I expected a much better new one and it's sorta meh
Hmm
I prefer the box art on the prior 10240 X-Wing. I hate the black background on these adult sets. There just boring and too bland. As a collector the box art is really important.
Those side studs aren't great
