- When a customer asked me to have his #R1250gsa for a couple of weeks whilst I installed lots of goodies it was just too tempting to video a Rev Off when I noticed it had an #scproject exhaust. Let’s see if it’s a match for the #akrapovic
Also half way through this video I added a video of the Akra on my R1200gsa which was video’d back in January of a ride by.

I’ve got a SC Project on my r1250gs and it’s awesome. I run it without the baffles and found it less ‘wheezy’ than the Akra. It’s also weighs a little less.
It’s the untouched stock exhaust for me. I need to hear and feel the beautiful sound of the boxer engine. That’s why I ride a GSA.
Buddy's Insight to be fair it enhances it. I’ve had 3 GSA’s and two rninets. I too love the feel of a boxer.
In this video the Akrapovic sounds much better, however I have just installed a Euro 3 Spec SC Projects on my R1200GS. With the DB Killer in, it sounds slightly deeper than Standard, with DB Killer out its much deeper and throttle response is improved. Its down to choice, but I'm extremely satisfied with the product.

Function rules: which makes the bike run best (torque, bhp and mpg)? If two are equal, choose the lightest. Everything else is irrelevant (sound is only for posers, not bikers)😈

Ok I prefure the Akrapovic. I have that on my 1250 GSA. I only had that on mine because it looked better than stock. I do like the sound. I have to be honest. I dont really get the idea of taking baffles out of an Adventure or touring bike. I dont really want lots of noise on long haul trips. The Akrapovic is just right I think. My Kawasaki's all sound awesome with alsorts of systems, but they are sports bikes. My Harley has Vance & Hines. My Yamaha Bulldog has Blue Flame end cans so yea I like nice sounding bikes. I just think this isn't the type of bike you want too noisey personally. I think only one of my bikes has a stock system & that's only because shes so beautiful. Just saying.

Hi, why haven't you got the full akrapovic system on your bike? I would love to hear the difference as I'm thinking of fitting one to my gsa.

Really old video. Haven’t had that bike for years now. I have full akra systems on a couple of bikes and also other brands on other bikes

The angle of the camera and mic should be the same for a fair comparison. Yours is middle to back portion and the other is upfront only.
Tony Caro the microphone is directly behind the exhaust on a tripod. I’m also using a mic on my jacket. There’s no mic on the camera. It’s a completely balanced recording

Hey Steve, do u have a vid of removing baffles from a stock bmw exhaust ? My 1250 gsa exh looks completely welded sealed when you remove the plastic end cap - so interested to know how u did it. Cheers.

I never understood why you would take the baffles out of a big touring bike, not really what they are about in my opinion. That's just my opinion & I'm sure there are lots of people who disagree.
Matthew Townsend Maybe some people like the sound somewhere between a Harley and a silent touring bike? To each their own I suppose. I personally like both under certain circumstances.

Matthew Townsend I have kept my stock exhaust on because when your in the saddle for 6 to 8 hours you don’t want the noise. I think the stock exhaust sounds superb. What I really love is the beautiful sound of the boxer engine that’s why I ride this bike. So I totally agree with you mate
@@buddysinsight9834 Long excursions are always better without the constant noise. I agree. I did, however, enjoy my Harley on short rides around town. Also, if you have another person with you, the quiet is nice, unless you really don't want to hear them. Hahaha.
Shameless Authenticity Seeker I have Misophonia so constantly hearing unpleasant loud noises drives me nuts. Leave the wife at home and enjoy the pleasant boxer sounds :) haha
Saw a stock exhaust GS and one with an Akra pipe at my dealers. Had them started up side by side and the stock exhaust sounded more "rumbly" and had a better bass tone while on idle. Even the dealer was surprised that the stock sounded better.
Akrapovic has a real growl, would be an interesting comparison to take baffles out of the SC, SC also sounds great on Rickover but loses some of the growl when being revved!
Isn’t even the akra is pointed at the camera and de sc project is away from the camera
What would be very interesting is to put the bike on a power bench while testing the silencers, and without dbkiller !

Well, obviously the SC Project sounded crap. I don't understand. Usually SC Project sound great on Ducati bike; Monster, Scrambler even the Hyper 950, best on Multistrada. How can it's sounded so bad like it's underwater. Interesting indeed. Akra exhaust note no doubt superb on GSA, but you should at least hear the Remus 8 for a comparison.

they both sound as well as the other really. I like the sound with out the baffle. with out the baffle I believe you get a bit more horse power. the sound with the baffles a bit stealthier not much back pop on the rev. down. good sound on the helmet coms. getting the itch to entertain the idea of purchasing a new motor scooter watching your videos. thumbs up
I've got the full decat titanium ako system. It sounds amazing.
Yes no warrenty issues. Didn't need tuning or flashing. It sound amazing ..... the dealer installed it for me... I still cannot believe how light the system is ... it is feather light and looks the business
Guys, this is a stupid comparison, the R1200GS is Euro 3... The R1250GS is Euro 5!!!
I think this is the adult equivalent of putting a playing card into our bicycle spokes when we were kids. That being said, I just shelled out $1200 for an Akropovic for my 2018 GS 1200 and don’t notice that much difference from stock. Oh well.

Akra sounds better,but you can not really compare the two because the other one still have the db killer on it,im sure that SC will sounds good as Well when the db killer will remove.nice video.

I have a SC Project S1 exhaust on my Triumph Street Triple and I love it. To be honest, I like the Akrapovic more on the R1200. The SC Project on the 1250 was to weak for me.
Unfair comparison due to camera placement. Lots of waffle, video could have been 2 or 3 minutes shorter
A pity that both exhausts are not filmed from the same position.
The SC on Idle sounds like there is water boiling in it… I prefer the stock… sorry but my taste.
I prefer the Akrapovic, sounds meatier, the SC at idle sounds like bildge pump on s boat. hoever i prefer the size of the SC Project, its much neater,

Removing the db killers on a high dollar can just sounds like Harley Davidson syndrome. A quest for days of yore.
Akrapovic for me, however I'd have liked to hear the SC without the baffles (but know why you could not do that particular comparison). Before I'd invest in either, I'd want to hear both on an equal footing. Thanks for the video, Steve!

I have Akrapovic with baffle on 1250 GSA,I bet next time when we are out of this Covid-19 lockdown you do European trip you will wish you left baffle in after 4h to 6hrs you head will be buzzing..
Billy4x4 I bet I don’t. I’ve done many road trips and our usual time in the saddle is 5 to 7 hours a day. I’ve had three GSA’s since 2014 and always removed baffles. I wear ear plugs but that’s still to eliminate wind noise not bike noise.
