It did occur to me that you were doing a hell of a lot of miles on that rental moped. The small print in the western world would have charged you extra also. You,ve devalued that bike with the extra miles on the clock.
The bike rental agrements have a maximum kilomiter range' which is basically dont go outside off pattaya as far as the renters are concerned!! I rented a yamaha R1 and went to cambodia, when i got back they nearly killed me as well as keep my deposit 2k thb😅

Really looking forward to this part of your journey. I’m based in Beijing China, but have only done Thailand and Cambodia. Still haven’t done Laos, even though it shares a border with Yunnan in the south of China. Safe travels buddy.

I was in Laos in 2007 then 2013 on my push bike then November last year to get a visa extension and every time I visited the country you could see a change which I suppose is inevitable but like you just said trying to work out the money exchange did my head in a bit as i was only there for three days but one thing that has never changed is the beer Laos and they have a dark version of it too, enjoy your stay there good luck 🤞

Man that's one thing I don't miss about Asia, 99% of the people smoke and everywhere.
You should head to Vang Vieng, wild place and very relaxed. With lots of green stuff about. It's also common in Vientiane if you know where to look. I was in Laos last year for 4 months. If your going to Luang Prabang from VV take the new Chinese fast train, not the slow hairy bus ride through the mountains. Beer Lao good stuff 😊👍

Most bike rental companies would think its only doing a few kilometres around Pattaya. So they dont bother writing max kms into the contracts. Good on ya for sticking to ya guns. It probably did the bike good, blowing the cobwebs out of it. How many kms did you do ?
