Something I'd like to expect on DM3X: Same size and layout of DM3; 32-channel mixing capability 8 buses + 2 stereo matrices + 4 VCA's + LR/LR+M/LCR main output All fader layers user definable MIDI control fader layers Free registration key for Dante Via & Dante Virtual Soundcard
I'm glad you called out the lack of Dugan on the DM3. Yamaha is so close to having my money. A few years ago, the gap between the TF and the QL seemed huge. I would love to see an addition to the DM line to close that gap.
Picked up the DM7 Compact & DM3 Dante this week. Now I need a wave of events to help pay for it all 😮 So far I absolutely love them. I have a client with 3 corporate events over 3 weeks, 24 mics each. This was my excuse to have the Dugan for all of them. Last year was my M32R and 16 Axient Digital. I’m so happy to have the DM7 now!
The DM7 surface is fantastic. I want that, but don't need 120 channels. Problem with the DM7C and DM3 is not enough faders for me. A DM5 could be interesting.
I’d like to see a DM5 that’s closer to an M32R. No Dugan is a big miss as I would have these in break out rooms also. Working towards a DM7 Compact someday!
Yeah, I'd love to see a DM-5 as a substitute for an M32 or SQ7, etc. But Yamaha really needs to bring down the price of their RiO stage boxes! The Midas Pro and A&H I/O are both considerably less money than RiO!
I just came by to say you guys rock 🤞🏽✊🏽 !!! All your videos are so refreshing to watch , I started on yamaha and even though I’ve used almost everything out thee I still find their UI and durability to be the most straightforward and easy to use
Good stuff! Having spent time on the DM7C now, I’m still not completely sure where a DM5 could fall. My guess? DM5 is like the DM3 (TF-ish) with more IO and another screen. My wish? Yamaha would offer a paid upgrade to the DM3 and theoretical “DM5” to unlock some more DM7 style features. GUI, Dugan, some premium rack stuff, etc. That would cover a lot of ground in the $1500 to $30000 range, and offer a lineup that plays really well together.
I talked to the Yamaha guys at InfoComm and asked about a DM5. They asked me if I'd want a DM5 to be a "DM7 minus" or a "DM3 plus". I said DM7 minus. "What would you take away?" I mentioned I didn't need as many channels and mix buses as it has, and they said for the $15k price range I should look at the DM7 Compact. I said I wanted more faders, though, and they asked, "What if you had a DM7 compact plus an external fader bay to plug in?" They also said they had "no information" on a DM5, but also said that Yamaha is not a company to leave a gap in models like that. Depending on what a theoretical DM5 might be, I'd totally snap one up. I've outgrown my M32R, and Midas at NAMM also had "no information" on any updates to the M series.
I wonder if a TF1 is a better buy for a small project studio instead of a DM3. I really like the form factor of the DM3 but other than the 96K and maybe better AD/DA converters, it seems the TF1 offers better I/O and more channels over USB for DAW integration.
Definitely space for DM5.. dual screen to compete with the Avantis and Digico S21/S31 in the $15k HoW space.. They can retire TF range or update it too..

I have been HOPING and PRAYING for a solid DM5… or heck even a DM3x - just a DM3 with a few more of the core features…
Something I'd like to expect on DM3X:
Same size and layout of DM3;
32-channel mixing capability
8 buses + 2 stereo matrices + 4 VCA's + LR/LR+M/LCR main output
All fader layers user definable
MIDI control fader layers

Very good and interesting video. Standing in the Gap, Yamaha DM3 and DM7
Best wishes for success and happiness always.

I really hope they come out with the DM-5

Needs Dugan

I wish DM7 standard has 144 channel (twice of DM7 compact) instead of 120 though

How does the ql5 compare to the Avantis?
Waiting for a SQ challenger, DM5?16-24 amps 32-48ch 16 faders dugan 8+Dca Qlab-functions $4-6K +CQ chall, DM-rack 96khz Qlab +dante
Why not a DM4?
Because 4 is a bad luck sign in Asia, no exception at Yamaha, japanese brand.
