TIPS:
Eating raw food isn't that bad and campfires are a waste of time. Just make sure you already have a good bit of hunger already.
Birch is the best wood filling the entire oven and cooking iron in one log. 8 fuel fully cooks 1 food for ovens.
Don't spam the fire plough hold the button down.
Use creepers for easy blocks. Place a block in front of them to take nearly no damage. (if you have an iron sword block w/ it too)
Fishing is actually really good when it is raining or when there is a full moon. (you need rotten flesh, spider eyes, or creeper oysters for bait for every fish you catch)
If you can grab cocoa beans, make a room next to your house to farm them in the night.
Make a house which is a basically a box of dirt then add rows of logs to keep out spiders but let them shoot your string at you. (NO CAMPFIRES ALLOWED IN THIS HOUSE ovens are fine)

@@SmokeFactoryI don’t know about this mod pack but in vanilla minecraft yes.
I personally don't recommend eating raw meat if you can set up 3 campfires to cook it all up. When you have means to obtain string more easily or ovens this shouldn't be a concern. You can also light up many ovens with external fire sources without having to light them all up or use torches.
Also a small correction to the poster above is that oak logs have exactly the amount of fuel you need to turn one ore into a nugget. Birch just makes it a lot easier since it has more fuel than that. But you're good with throwing in a couple of saw dust and jamming in an oak log as well, it will smelt the iron on its own with no waste. Iirc jungle wood is the one that provides less fuel overall.
Playing BTW for this long makes me feel like I can hit up Primitive Technology for a collab 💀(also the cipher has been decoded already, no more steam cards, if ykyk)

You can fix the white lines around blocks by changing the NVIDIA control panel settings,
1. Right Click on your desktop.
2. Choose NVidia Control Panel.
3. Go to 'Adjust Image settings with preview'.
4. Choose 'Let the 3D application decide'.
5. Apply.
6. Enjoy minecraft.

This reminds me of many years ago, in 1.13, I had spent forever fishing for a saddle. When I finally got one (around ten game days), I spent a few days looking for a horse I liked. Taming him took longer than normal, but when he finally was I put the saddle on him. Next game day he despawned.

I've realized two really powerful things that may help you from playing myself. If you put blocks between you and a exploding creeper it soaks a lot of the damage, and if you make high chimneys in your base spiders will shoot their web at you during the night.
That is the oldest trick in minecraft you get better effect with stronger blocks like cobble, obsidian and netherite block

That's cause explosion damage is taken by just your player's legs, so if you block the legs from the explosions, you take a very small amount of damage. It works really nicely for bed bombing and breaking end crystals too.
@Benny_Boo___ that explains why people put that one block of netherite in front of their legs when getting netherite with beds. I always knew it helped absorb the damage but I didn't know only your legs get hit
This mod has a reverse difficulty curve I feel. You’re most likely to die between days 1 and 2 I feel because it’s so hard to get a shelter set up without any tools. A skeleton can shoot you through the gap or your fire can burn out during gloom. Other than that, the main issue I’m facing is that it’s so hard to get enough iron for anything. I would go strip mining but all my torches would just burn out and leave the tunnels completely off limits until I get a steady supply of coal. It takes 8 iron ores to get your first chisel, then after that you need to find 27 more to get a proper iron pickaxe. You really have to travel far to find enough caves to spelunk to be able to find that much iron. I only have like 15 iron so far for my pickaxe. I just gave up and made a hoe and started farming hemp. It’s so bad that I actually mined 2 diamonds before I got my first stone pickaxe
Yeah its so rough, after iron tools it becomes so breezy. Caves are still horrifying but life generally gets easier and everything is fast. Armor is expensive doe. I need to try farming, gonna focus an iron hoe soon. Also needa find diamonds still :p
There's actually a good progression in caves in the design of this mod. You have different levels of strata and you can only mine deeper when you get an iron pickaxe. This means that aside from getting diamonds, early on your best and safer bet is to try and find more caves rather than explore deeper.
Grasslands are really flat and tend to spawn a lot for caves just above water level that contain more iron. They're really good for both finding animals and finding new caves to explore.
After you go to the nether and get better tools you can then focus on exploring the original caves completely.
Even so this mod is no joke. It would easily take me two to four weeks irl of playing to get to that tech level. And the nether is fucking terrifying to absurd levels. You're lucky if you get out of there alive.
Why not make a glow berry farm and use them instead of torches? Should last infinitely instead of dealing with burnout
Pretty much all minecraft modpacks (and really just minecraft in general) have reverse difficulty curves. It’s sort of just the nature of sandbox-style games of its kind and is almost unavoidable. You start with nothing and you get stronger while the world stays the same.
There can be some individual spikes in difficulty like entering a new dimension for the first time, but the increased rewards for doing so will almost invariably cause that spike to flatten out very soon and even accelerate the reverse curve once you return to the main dimension.
It’s not just Minecraft, either. Almost all survival sandboxes from Terraria to No mans sky to don’t starve have similar reverse curves since it’s actually kind of the point of the genre: getting to slowly overcome challenges until they aren’t challenges anymore, and the sense of satisfaction you get from your own personal rags to riches story where you basically ascend to godhood over the course of however many dozens of hours the game takes to beat.

You should give a game called Vintage Story a try after you are done with series. It's like a hardcore survival version of Minecraft with a bunch of super in depth mechanics to struggle through.

There's a Minecraft modpack that's very similar to Vintage Story and they incedentally were being developed at the same time, it's called TerraFirmaCraft.
They're working on making sure it has an updated version for 1.20 as it's originally written for 1.7.10
Ethoslab has done a few runthroughs and it's very hard for someone who knows how to work the system, for new players it's an exercise in patience.
First step: pick up rocks and sticks, then KNAP (knock rocks together in a specific way) an axe. The whole tree comes down, but making the logs into anything comes much later.

The fire underground setting the trees alight is actually a real thing! Dried dirt with roots can easily catch fire and spread to the whole tree and other surrounding trees, it's why if you're making a campfire pit in the ground, you should soak the ground first before building your fire! The bigger the fire or the longer you need it to burn, the more you soak the ground so it doesn't dry out and become a risk. I actually love that being a feature in this modpack because a lot of people don't actually know that lmao

Honestly the parasites mod might make this a little TOO easy imo. Just farm for the sentient weapons and it’s basically GG. I guess maybe it could be nice if you want a nice casual experience where you can just focus on building.

I recently found this modpack, and I feel this should be way more popular.
It could have been more popular but the creator is a grumpy man who literally banned anyone who wrote a negative comment about the mod in its forum. The result was a community of players that behaved more like a cult and just praised his work. It is not a coincidence that this mod is getting more relevance now after his psychologist recommended he leave the development of this mod to others. Don't get me wrong. I still think he is a genius but his behavior hurt the mod.

Tip: place wood with a one block gap between the ground and the platform, put bricks on the platform, mobs wont spawn on it, it would be out of reach of other ground mobs other then spiders who dont effect it

This is BTW fact. Mobs cannot spawn on top of wood blocks. They're very common for base building but can easily catch on fire. They also make everything walk faster on top of them just like stone blocks do. This makes them perfect for bridges until you can get packed earth, and also perfect for making floating platforms to dry clay on too of.
Did you know, that with shears you can cut off creeper balls, creepers won't be able to explode if you cut them.

Mobs can't spawn on logs so build a one block elevated platform of logs to dry ur clay on. Best way to ensure they don't reset they drying

but what if they had the pollution mod in there? Your cave is no longer safe due to pollution
IMO the hardest modpack, with an honourable mention for gregtech new horizons, is blood and bones for 1.5.2. The old terrafirmacrafts from 1.4 and 1.5 were tough too.

Why does everyone say this is the hardest modpack? This isn't even close. GTNH (Greg Tech New Horizons) is so hard that even with a team of 10 players and 6000 hours, no one has beat it yet. There is one team that is extremely close right now though.
There have been completions (older versions of gtnh) - still yea its wayyy harder (not just that it takes more time)
