I have used stuff from home depot, lowes, sunex, tekton, mayhew, sk when I first started and then upgraded to snap on, matco, cornwell. I will say that there is a difference in feel and performance. The sockets will grab more, slip less, and last longer. I have never busted my knuckles with my snap on wrenches like i have with husky or cobalt or tekton wrenches. The snap on screwdrivers have a better tip that won't mess up the screws and the handles are comfortable. When you're starting, use whatever you can afford, but when you're knee deep in work later on, snap on, matco, cornwell, and mac won't disappoint you

    Good point bro!
I’m an experimented mechanic for over 20 years and can say that not all snap on tools worth the money.
I’m currently owned all battery last gen tools from snap on and I can say that they perform much better vs all my fuel Milwaukee tools that had previously..but that’s point of view by my real experience.
That’s why my snap on tools that I own are the ones I consider the most durable and reliable.
    Greetings from my channel 👋🏻

Love snap on ratchets. I love my 3/8 and 1/4” flex head. That being said that’s the only snap on tools I own. I got sk, Carlyle, gearwrench, tekton, durallast etc all in my tool box and they haven’t failed me yet.

The biggest reason I find myself buying snap on is the truck account. I'm not saying that everything is worth the money. But the fact that I can pay 20 or 30 bucks a week and have the tools I need today with no credit check means I can be a more efficient tech which translates to better raises and bigger bonuses. My harbor freight box is loaded with harbor freight tools, but my collection of snap on and matco tools is steadily growing based solely on that one convenient factor alone.

I hear you, Bro even though I made this video giving Snap-On a hard time I can still admit that owning Snap-on tools is still much better than owning a bunch of copycat Snap-On Harbor Fake tools! The only thing I really recommend from HF is stuff like tool storage, shop cranes, jacks, shop press, and things like that, I don't think anybody can beat HF in that area.

I really like snap on core hand tools. Their hammers, wrenches, pliers, ratchets, sockets, screwdrivers, etc. I do have a lot of other rebranded snap on tools that I really like. But I only got them because I got them on discount through school.
I know they have a lot of tools made by Irwin, malco, lisle, etc. in that case, I know you’re paying twice as much for the convenience of having a tool truck warranty at your disposal. Sometimes snap on is providing a lifetime warranty that the OEM won’t. It really depends.
Also, I do believe snap on power tools are made in the US.
If I had to do it over again, I would only splurge on the core tools from snap on, and would have gone with an OEM branded tools for stuff like thread repairing tools, extractors, and precision measuring tools.
On the other hand though, for professionals, if you’re using the tools to make money, why does it matter if you spend a lot more for that tool? It will likely pay for itself many many times over.

I've wrenched professionally since 1976. I started out with a mix of Craftsman, SK, Thorsen, Proto, etc. The most commonly used sizes I had to take back for replacement every few months as the 12 point ends would wear out. The screwdriver tips would also wear out pretty quick when used everyday. I started out with just a few Snap On wrenches and screwdrivers just to try them out. The Snap On screwdrivers and wrenches didn't wear out like the other brands did. In fact, the Snap On wrenches I bought 25 years ago I still have today. These wrenches have been used 1000s of times. The 12 pints are still as perfect as they were when I bought them. Snap On screwdriver tips last so much longer than any of the other brands I've used. All of the other hand tools I own are Snap On and they are just simply far superior to any of the other brands, a few of which are owned by the junior techs I work with.
In reference to some of what is said in this video, if a tool says Snap On on it, it's made by Snap On in there own factory in the USA, period.

For transparency I'm an electrical engineer in building automation. I own some snap-on but not allot. I think they're like everyone else some good some bad. I agree with your rebranding comments I wish someone made a series of truck tool rebranding. Anyway, I watch other trade tool videos to learn more about tools. I think auto techs would save themselves allot of money if they did the same. I'll never understand why all the made in the USA tool buyers don't buy klen tools. Literally the standard for the entire electrical trade in America and made in the USA. German and Japanese made tools are high quality as well.

I just warrantied out a 1/4 swivel head ratchet online (bc I bought it online) and it was not straight forward and not only that but it takes 3 days for them to even respond. They literally send you an automated email that said be prepared to wait multiple days. I decided to go with Snap-on sand Mac for my tools bc I get a 50% student discount so the price is still expensive but not terrible
Edit: the ratchet came from the factory broken it would slip in both directions when applying any torque at all

Love all of my snap on tools and will stand by them with their quality. Unmatched by harbor freight brands. I don’t have a 20k dollar snap on box or any box from snap on. I build racing engines and all of my hand tools and power tools are from snap on. Y’all think they are expensive we’ll try buying all of the precision measuring tools and tooling for machines. 1500 dollars for a single sunnen dial bore gauge and there are easily 6 or 7 here in different lengths and sizes.

Same with screw drivers; haven't torn anything up or broken one on my prized posessions. I am getting what I paid for. A company that doesn't skip corners like other brands. Quality over quantity any day. I've had a click type torque wrench for over 5 years. Has not needed to be calibrated and still torques to the exact specs. Cheapo brands will not be as accurate every time. I need precision at the end of the day and my 1/4, 3/8, 1/2. 3/4, and 1inch drive torque wrenches do exactly that. Also if you can't make the payments don't agree to making payments. Its that simple. Snap-On didn't make you buy that tool. You did. I get my stuff warrantied no questions asked, but that's my dealer not yours. The tools are precise thats all I can say but that comes with a price. Only thing I could say that is true maybe is the cordless tools but they are all being converted to brushless so it really will not matter after that on which cordless power tool you get and they are all the same in price wise. Milwaukee power tools are just as expensive as Snapon. Maybe a 100-150 difference. Same shit just as pricey.

there is a difference ... the price mainly .
They do have few gems, flank drive plus does really work and proper tough .
dead blows are really nice & the battery ratchet wrench is about best design on market .
Back in day snap-on hard handle screwdrivers pretty much a must buy these days a set of toptul hammer thru screwdriver pretty much as good and in some ways better for fraction of the cost .
On the whole though anything snap-on electrical or air is pretty poor tool at about 5 times the price of a better option :-) warranty and service costs is awful on electrical and air tools ...
I do like some of the older krl boxes but only via used market, new prices are just crazy, I went matco older model boxes used as proper built and proper bargain for used .
Biggest change these days is massive availability shipped to home or work, you can buy any day or time, even buy from germany and japan direct .
Snap-On really hasn't made greatest effort to be something better over last 20 years, current opinions and more mix tool brands in pro hands is the new normal lol .

Snap on IS necessary. No other tool holds up better over the years than snap on. Cheaper tools break and cost you time and money. With snap on, you just keep doing the heavy jobs over and over again. Most of my tools are date stamped 2005. I still put them through their paces. What you call disingenuous is their marketing. And I agree with you there, but that is different from their Wisconsin made tools. Snap on beats all other manufacturers in the long run.

because most the money you're spending on the tool isn't paying for the cost of producing the tool, its profit. Had to pause and make sure I wasn't subbed to "Perks Automotive". You said the mac one was "probably made in china" did it not say on the package? That's usually where to look for COO. I *DO* have a problem with made in china vs made in taiwan, there's often a DRASTIC quality difference, AND the whole concept of supporting a democracy, or a people-enslaving communist regime. I know you can't avoid giving them SOME money, but I avoid it at any opportunity. Also I would correct that snap on makes "most of their money" selling to the U.S. GOVERNMENT. Ripping off the franchisees is a side-hustle for them.

It says washable just remove the electircal components. He has the original box but the instructions say nothing on how to remove the components. Snap on stopped coming to his dealership overa year ago, So he bought a thicker nicer one from Milwakee tools in prepreation of winter, No instructions on how to remove the electrical parts. They say washable but remove the electrical component. I am frustrated, Why sale something without complete instructions. Two Companies have done so and the jackets are very expensive. I am mad, I want to save the Snap on tool jacket. Someone must know how to remove the component without having to cut it out and damage the jacket. At the price and the claim fully machine washable but remove the components. I have spent months with no success. There are Snap-on dealers that will definitely take care of your every need on your tools and they come to you every week and that’s worth a lot right there you don’t have to go and look everywhere for what you are needing and Snap-on is there for you when you have a good dealer. I didn’t hear anything in your 5 reasons not to buy from Snap-on. You were mostly guessing about Snap-on products. As for people bitching about there tool boxes they do not have a leg to stand on. They do have a quality tool box by far. They do mostly pay top dollar when you trade in your Snap-on box. That one guy bitching about his drawers making noise are kidding me have you ever heard of lubing them I was laughing my ass off he was just complaining because he was pissed of with his Snap-on guy I would bet. Recently I commented on another channel's video about the price of the master 1/4" drive Snap-On socket set price of $730. When you consider that a decent similar Tekton set is literally about 1/12 the price, you have to admit that the Snap-On price is absurd. Yet I was flamed venomously in the comments LOL. And yes, you can get USA made tools for far less money than Snap-On. Are Snap-On tools nice? Well yeah. But the price? And, when you can send a broken 3/8 to 1/4 adapter to Tekton (I broke it trying to remove a SBC galley plug) and have a new one in your mailbox in two days, I don't buy the warranty deal either.

@@AV84USA I believe it's simply down to the level you're at. Say you're the best guy in the workshop and want the best money can buy, £300 for a set of spanners is irrelevant a year later let alone 40 years down the line when you're still using them, or their replacements. Even these guys I see getting 5-10k in snap on credit before ever doing a days work in their field probably can't afford to buy an alternative set of tools out-right, today, and have to choose between struggling to afford their tool payments or simply not being able to afford the tools at all. If the quality of the steel is the most important attribute of the tool like a wrench then I believe they're worth every penny. A snap on hammer on the other hand could be just any old rock at the end of the day.

I own some snap-on tools as well as harbor freight brands, Tekton, craftsman, and others. Believe me… snap-on is not all that. Even their hand tools, which are really awesome tools are only worth about 30-40% of what they are priced. You’re telling me my snap-on ratchet is 250% better than my gearwrench ratchets? Usually old made in the usa pliers like these can be had for $5 at tractor shows, but since these were snapon they cost 7 times as much. They definitely don't work 7 times better. For minor car maintenance at home or diy projects you can choose whatever you like but when im on the clock I need precise tools that are going to get the job done.
