What type of riding are you looking to do? I think a dirt jumper would be easiest to adapt to.
I’d say that if you are wanting to take it to bike parks as well as like street riding and shit I’d recommend a giant reign 27.5. I’ve had one for a year and a half and I beat the hell out of it and it still runs smooth. Also I’d recommend a specialized stumpjumper 27.5

For real, all those destroying cheap bike videos piss me off. I just got a 3k Enduro bike, but i had to save very long for it and there were times i would be happy about any bike, especially a new one, even from Walmart. Instead of destroying bikes in conditions they are not made for, they should take them and give them to kids or someone else in need. I mean whats the point of those videos I can also trash a 1k road bike in a bike park, as those cheap mtb's that's just not the intended use.

Morgan Williams kevcentral does a way better job at being informative about Walmart big box bikes. It’s clear these clowns did it for the views and weren’t trying to be informative at all.
Usually, $150 bikes come with a disclaimer which warns against doing jumps and stunts on it. With good suspensions, and better wheels, they can handle flow trails pretty smoothly.

I spent $29.95 at a Goodwill for a new crappy Mongoose full suspension bike. It is aluminum with front and rear disc brakes. It weighs 40 pounds.!! It was from Walmart. I installed good Maxis tires $45.. The first ride out in the swamp I broke the chain. So new chain installed and now I have put over 800 miles on it in 1 year. KEEP ROLLIN

I had a goodwill bike fully fixed but someone stole it, it only costed me 50 bucks

Ok so they took a Walmart off the rack cheap MTB and hammered it on a downhill track and to be honest it took a lot more punishment than I thought it would.
I’m actually surprised how well it did.

At the end of the video they gave it to someone who who was going to fix the bike and give it to someone. And as far as MTB is concerned Walmart bikes at least like the one that they had are pretty much complete trash. Also the argument that they should have given the bike to someone who needs one is just as invalid as telling musicians not to wreck their instruments on stage as part of their performance. At the end of the day, that bike is just part of the budget for that video and is not really different than them paying for the rental bike that they used. People don't say that they should have given the money that they spent on the rental bike to someone who needs it but at least IN MY OPINION it would make just as much sense for them to react the same way about it.

Wow this bike was amazing. It feels like it was deliberately mistreated. If someone is not interest in "most advanced trails" this bike is perfect for him. The bike experienced so much abuse starting with painting of brakes. Dumb as a door nail.
Yeah, but even for green trails I wouldn't use that bike. It would just fall apart because it's just a Walmart bike. Obviously this bike was abused by Billy but it wouldn't even handle a blue trail let alone a single black diamond. Just buy at least something like a trek marlin and it won't fall apart on the trails.
Dude even walmart has said that their mountain bikes arent made for mountain biking its just the style of the bikes. This bike is just for road and dirt use to handle a pump but its not made for ANY trail. Do not buy walmart bikes for mountain biking even if they say "mountain bike" You can get extremly hurt or even injured.
I’m just using the Walmart bike for riding on the road. I just using it for quick commuting trips, and fun but casual rides in the park
I'm always afraid of the frame breaking on those, as quality control can be a hit or miss, may last you long time or may break you really quick.
This bike is perfect for nobody. Step up the price just a bit and the durability and quality will drastically improve
As a budget rider i can confirm that Walmart mtb’s can be very capable
I just bought a schwinn walmart MTB. It works good and is definitely great on roads and low to moderate roughness trails. Upgrading the bike takes it to the next level that will make it on par with bikes costing twice as much
Mine's exploded, all of the spokes came off and the wheel was bent 90 degrees. I was riding on a flat neighborhood road too.

But I have a friend, he had a bike shop and he's giving me some old or secondhand parts for my bike and I just check it if it's still okay then I just use it. Because I just want to enjoy my ride with my friends even if my bike looks old, as long as I'm happy 😁. Someday I'm gonna get myself a new expensive one, that's one of my dream :') ☝🏼️

I'm 35 and just bought my first MTB. I got a 29" mongoose excursion from Walmart for 119 dollars. I been riding gravel roads around my house and I love riding! It's a blast! I want to upgrade and start traveling to some trails but if this is what mtb riders are like.......I will stay away from the trails.

honestly if they just did minor fix-ups like re screwing in the loose parts and readjusting the brakes and of course not spraypainting it. may have lasted a lot longer. but what do I know all Walmart bike destruction videos dont have similar conditions replicated on the higher end equivalent.

I remember growing up having a $150 Huffy from Walmart meant you were rich. The way we rode them they only lasted about a year, so if we were lucky we would get another one until Christmas or our birthdays. Thankfully me and my friends are now able to buy actual mountain bikes like Treks, Giants and BMC’s. Watching this reminds me of how my red Huffy was after I rode for a year.

@@theroyalarcher4026 the vid "149 Mountain Bike vs mountain - The Walmart Enduro" that bike got destroyed in one trail, besides with no derailleur hanger your bike is one crash away from permanent damage to the frame making it a paperweight.
@@Skelath I've crashed this bike hard multiple times, slamming the derailleur, and its just fine. Just take care of it, and it will last. And again, this is a starter bike. Beginners arent going down pro lines with this.
@@theroyalarcher4026 "it's just fine" yes you bend your derailleur it will still work, however you will be able to "audibly" tell it isn't working efficiently, did you tighten all your screws on the derailleur when you brought the bike?
@@Skelath I've tightened everything i can on the bike, excluding the linkages for rear suspension, so i can get as much travel as i can.
I actually got one of those 99$ Walmart mountain bikes. I still have it. I didnt take it off any 10 foot drops, but i was able to ride it all around trails, took it off some dirt jumps and got some good air. They arent too terrible if you just wanna get one to see if you like mountain biking. The thing held up on me surprisingly well. If you look closely theres actually a disclaimer sticker on the bike telling you the mountian bike isnt supposed to be used for mountain biking. You're better off buying one second hand.
As a mountain biker, I had no hope going into this video. But the second he started looking at a Huffy, my soul left my body. This was pain to watch.
these rims are stronger than MAVIC rims which cost like this bike

Get a giant trance 3 2019. It is about 2000 US dollars and is a really nice full suspension mtb. It has 150 mm of travel up front and 140 rear. It also has an alum frame and a dropper post. Great bike for a slightly cheaper price than other duels. Although if you want to be a richboi than get any Santa Cruz lol

A $150 bike gives you $150 worth of fun. Once. A $3k bike gives you $150 worth of fun way more than 20 times. My bike was $850, plus another $300 or so in parts i have broken and replaced 😂

I have the Aurum as well, it's not as nice as my previous bikes but honestly impressed with it. Hit some serious stuff on it and it hasn't failed me either.

I own a Walmart MTB and it works perfectly. The reason it didn’t work for them was because the treated it like garbage.
