You've matured into one of the best wildlife film makers on TH-cam. There's not many photographers out there who can hold an audience for more than half hour, but you can. 👏
Hi Si, I was up in Blackburn with work start of this week and we were stood down on Tuesday due to the weather conditions and we travelled back to south Wales, Brecon and the Brecon Beacons had a nice coating of snow. Love the latest video, that Nikon 600mm w/TC is a monster, I sure hope Canon will release a 600mm with integrated 1.4x, they have a 200-400mm zoom w/TC which has been around for a few years now, I’ve seen a few on the used market lately for reasonable prices. Keep up the great work 👍👍👍 all the best Al
Aye its grand to get a dumping of the white stuff, especially so early on. Its a shame all you Canon shooters have to look on in awe at the beautiful Nikon glass!😂😂 Only joking pal, atb. Si👍
Great footage Simon as always.what an obsolete proper winter Wonderland for bird photography, totally jealous. Cant believe how much snow you had compared to us in north Yorkshire 😮
You have a great set up Simon I would not want to go anywhere else! Some chemical handwarmers would not go a miss. Great content as always. Stay healthy.
Absolutely superb I have been following your channel since you first started. And I can say with all honesty you are about the best out there (Keep um Coming)
I’m just south of you, on the coast as you were, and we’ve got nothing……………..🤬 As a boy, when my dad would take me out on one of our rambles, I remember finding the blue feathers of the Jay, I haven’t found one in years, and very much want to so my boys will have those memories too. Dad’s long gone, but I remember those days with huge affection. The shots at the end were awesome, the snow really gives them another dimension.
Dovrefjell for Musk Ox 🤣🤣 Snow can be tough for wildlife …. but it creates some wonderful landscapes and photography opportunities 🙂 Jays in the snow …. amazing! .... brilliant stuff Simon!
Brilliant filming of the Jay's Simon and photos enjoyed watching them a pleasure! Looks great on the TV 👍and that was without the lucky gloves 😂 keep up the great work 👏👏👏
Absolutely brilliant Simon enjoyed the video as usual. You made a cracking job of the hide first class. Great pictures in the snow. All the best. Take care. B. K.
So well put together Simon, the colours in that Jay contrasting with the snow & the flakes falling, just a wonderful winter scene👌 what a beast that lens is👌
Another awesome video helped in no uncertain terms by the weather. Good job I left your homestead when I did I just got home and the snow began to fall! By the way if anyone is considering booking the hide all I can say is do it - it’s awesome! So many bird species it’s hard to know where to point your lens and Dawn makes awesome bacon butties! Nice one Simon thanks for a great day.
Thanks again for another stunning video. Much appreciate you "toughing it out" . If you do get many more snowy down falls have you thought about getting one of the body warmers with built in elements that run of a battery pack to keep you warm when your in the hide. Fantastic images at the end, Jays in particular.
Stunning images and a great video to accompany them. It's great to see that the hard work and graft that you put into building and evolving your wildlife habitat is paying off. Definitely on my list of hides to visit next year.
Absolutely beautiful film footage Si. Looked fantastic with the snow falling 🙂. Can't beat a bit of hot Ravioli too. Beats a fig roll on a wintry Welsh day 👌 Brilliant stuff as always Si Atb Rick n Billydog
Cheers Rick, those food flasks are great for this kind of thing🔥 I was gonna chuck some tinned fish in there to spice it up a bit!!🤣 Catch ya soon, Si 👊🏼👍🏼
Whatever you do in your videos, Simon, I'm here for the duration. I especially like the snow scenes and the quality of light you get with the snow filling in like a giant diffusion filter. But, what I particularly admired today was that new heavy wool sweater with the turtle-neck collar. I'd love to have one like that but I can't even find a wool sweater in stores around here much less a good wool sweater for outback use. I'll be looking for some more of those snow birds you shot today. I know you got more than you can use at one time and you file the others. I hope we get to see them.
I bought a cheap ebay heated vest for my winter stuff, lasts for hours on a small 10,000 Mah battery, best 20 pounds I've ever spent. Great photos in the snow - amazing
Ay up Si. Loved the Jays in the snow. It's a great shot when their crest rises isn't it. From face on they look like Jedward. Good news about the long awaited calendars. Stay warm mucker.
See you got your shots that you where after Simon, been after some decent Jay shots for years without success -will keep trying ! As usual another great "no nonsense get out there what ever the weather" enjoyable video mate. 👌
👍There seems to be certain Birds that look at the camera from afar before they take the bait,,... great work Simon,,... ps.. not sure i saw steam from the ravioli? But if it helped,. take care looking forward as winter's coming for some epic shots,.👍
You had me then at the beginning, I thought, ‘he’s kept that quiet’ 😂 - what a magical looking winter scene (absolutely nothing here in Lancs). Great tip about the carousel, I’ve got one but never thought of using it for my wildlife photography so I’ll have to fish it out. I don’t know how you’ve managed to not have a play with your new lens, I’d be itching to get it out of the box but I know where you’re coming from, you’ve got to make the most of the amazing lens on loan. Brilliant footage and stills of the Jay by the way, I bet you’re pleased with those.
Thanks Gazza, couldn't resist mate !!🤣🤣 I got it out the other day to check it had survived the transit, I'll be giving it a go very shortly when the beast gets sent back!!🤣Thanks for watching mate 👀👊🏼
Simon your pictures are worthy of any calender that I've ever seen 🙌 your a natural in your own element and you do go that extra mile too give your viewers that experience on dedicated people pursue 👏👏👏 no packets of fig rolls we're harmed in this video 🙌🇬🇧☕️☕️👍
HI Simon you got me going with the 🇳🇴 trip but as usual the videos are amazing the weather is fantastic for the winter scenes. You need some hand warmers they last 8 hours .could watch you all day keep them coming keep warm clive ..
Was hoping to get a dump of snow on Anglesey to get my garden red squirrels in snow but nowt but a flurry. Super stuff as ever. Keep an eye open for ringed birds in the snow. I’ve had danish and Lithuanian ringed starlings this week.
Simon a cracking vid. You really need to think about installing a Super Ser or even a gas camping stove/heater/grill which will take the chill off. Re: the Bird Fair ..any update on the weather coat for the Z9 ?. Looking forward to your next video. You're doing an excellent job, giving inspiration to so many wildlife enthusiasts. Thank You. Regards, Ted. Nottingham.
Nice one! Superb slow-mo of the jays in the snow :) That hide of yours is looking ace - will definitely have to pop along sometime when we're down south, though it's unlikely until maybe next summer... Also, hope you're enjoying the big lens - the built-in TCs are so good (I've got the 400mm TC lens)!
Hi Geoff, thanks mate. Its great to have somewhere you can sneak off to for a few hours and we have some nice species showing up. Welcome any time mate!!👍🏼 Its going to be a wrench sending the 600 back!!🥲 One day mate!!🤣🤞🏼📷
Thought you were following in the tracks of Morten Wilmar at first Simon - Musk Ox indeed, don't think there's many in Wales ! Andy's extension device would work well with a home made groundpod (aka old frying pan) Keep up the great work thanks, much appreciated.
A little heater me thinks is needed, I was hoping for a male bullfinch in the snow, I bet you will get one soon, Fantastic video! I went out this wk with me nikon first time for a while just local got male kingfisher & little egret so was over the moon, you inspired me to get back out after ur comment a cple videos ago, TY

That'd be interesting seeing them wandering about. Keep the walkers on their toes!!🤣🤣Good shout with the groundpod 👍🏼
cracking Video Simon. some amazing images too.

Great video again Simon 👍👍

Nice one TY, theyre in the front garden and seem happy there. You never know!!🤞🏼🤞🏼📷 Glad you got yourself out there 👍🏼
Great video again Simon☺
Thanks very much 👍🏼😃
Fab video again Simon I always look forward to your videos. Question how the heck do you dry acorns? I’ve tried before and they end up sprouting.
Thanks for watching. I dry them with a towel and then lay them on trays in the greenhouse. Seems to do the job.
👌
I know is only JPG but the pre-capture should make getting the Jays with their crest up easy!
Good shout, might be worth a try 👍🏼
Brilliant video Simon. Will you be making anymore bean bags in the future would like to invest in one.keep up the great pictures
Cheers Tony, yes they'll be going on the website soon 👍🏼
Simon, excellent. Hope the hide's doing well. Order placed for your 2025 calendar a moment ago. A.
Nice one Aynsley, thanks for the order. Its greatly appreciated. 👊🏼
Two things: First, I'm now a bit envious. We aren't likely to get any snow here in the lowlands of the Seattle area for at least a month. Second, I almost always use spot-metering, especially with snow, because it's so consistent. It MAKES what you meter a mid-grey. I know that snow with detail will be about 2 stops over whatever the meter gives me, so set exposure comp to +2 and I'm good to go until the light changes.
Good advice Guy, I'm sure the snow will be with you soon. We dont get a lot over in the UK so it was a real bonus for us!! 👌🏼☃️🥶
Another great video Simon hoping to get down to the hide next year but having a new hip early next year so when I fit enough to get down have you thought of putting any heating in the hide ??
Nice one Chris, good luck with everything. You'll be fighting fit in no time I'm sure. No plans for heating, plenty of layers and you'll be reet!!🔥
Beautiful winter weather for photography Simon what’s your thoughts on drones 👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks Dave, I love my DJI mini 3. Great for B roll footage. I see landscape photographers using them a lot now and getting some great shots.
Social media is a dangerous place , I wish it kinda never existed... but for me being a complete novice I'm using it to learn how to be a better photographer
Its a great learning platform Matt once youve sifted through all the dross!!🤣👌🏼 Thanks for watching mate👍🏼
