  • Washing kegs and carboys can be a pain. Here's a project I've wanted to tackle for quite some time and it's finally here. The DIY Keg Washer.
Nothing more than a pump in a bucket and about 7 or 8 dollars worth of PVC parts.
The plans and parts list come from the Brülosophy website: brulosophy.com/... I've listed below the parts that I used.
    Keg Spray Wand:
3/4″ Female NPT x Female HT Swivel PVC Fitting
3/4″ Female Slip to 3/4″ Male Pipe Thread Adapter
2″ piece of 3/4″ PVC Pipe (cut from 2′ pipe listed below)
3/4″ Slip Tee x 3/4″ Female NPT branch
    3/4″ x 2′ PVC Pipe
    3/4″ PVC Slip Cap
    3/4″ Male NPT Hose Nipple
Keg posts and dip tube cleaning assembly:
    3/8″ Female Hose Adapter
40″ of 3/8″ ID vinyl tubing
    3/8″ PVC Tee Fitting
    Barbed Gas Disconnect
    Barbed Liquid Disconnect
    (7) Small Hose Clamps

Nice work. I got a Bucket Blaster made by Kegland, and while it works, I do not recommend it.
    1. The super-cheap Chinese pond pump died after a couple of sessions using warm water and homemade Oxi-Clean. This is common for $20 pond pumps, and it is not possible to repair one.
    2. The keg support is really made for carboys, which no smart person uses for beer. It lets kegs lean so the water hits the side of the keg's bottom, and it won't hold a Torpedo Megamout securely.
    3. The pipe was cut for carboys, so it's a little short for kegs.
The Mark II from Morebeer also has a cheap pump.

All these years later and I am still using this thing. One modification I made was to swap out the cheap vinyl tubing for something more flexible. I also realized I didn't need a connector for both keg posts so I only have one length of tubing that connects to the liquid post. It runs like a champ!
      Thanks for watching.

That is nice. Thank you for sharing. I dread cleaning my Kegs, but this is great and I will make one. The Girlfriend hates when I clean my Kegs in the bathtub. Now I will be able to run this while I am at the brew garage cleaning up and organizing my equipment or run it during Mash. How long do you run for each keg. Please tell us what your thoughts are now after using it for a few months. Lastly, do you think you can use this system for cleaning carboys? Once again, thanks for the video. What about using a pressure cleaner, nearly everyone has one.

You could certainly use a pressure washer for the inside of the keg itself but what about the dip tubes?

Thanks for the video! How is your experience with this, 1,5 years later?

Thank you. The only change I have intended to make is replace the vinyl tubing with silicone because the vinyl is not very flexible and can be difficult to work with but I use it all the time. Just washed some kegs last weekend.

Do you use oxyclean as a cleaner? Do you also use this for sanitizing with starsan? any foam issues?

I clean with Oxyclean and I sanitize with Starsan. Ignore the foam. It won't hurt anything.
