Thanks for sharing this. I have been looking to do master books with my boys 😊 Would you please make a video on how you figure out your grades? I would love to see how it’s done since I am about to do an umbrella school as well when we move and it’s a 1st for me 😂 thanks
We use Generations. I have several videos on my channel about them. It's by far our favorite. This is the one we use: generations.idevaffiliate.com/idevaffiliate.php?id=24&url=15
love this thank you could you please tell me all the history books in the masterbook my story series. I'm looking on their site and all I can find is the two levels of my story but here you show a few older levels of these same books. I really like to know the names of every level so I can work through all of them with my girls. Thank you!
Frank Henderson My Story only has the two levels currently! The other ones from Masterbooks that she showed are America’s Story (I think that has three levels) and The World’s Story (also three levels to this series). :)
I'm trying to find good history material that isn't from a religious perspective, but all the best homeschool resources seem to be Christian. Christian educators definitely win some points from me for how well they care about education
Have you found one? I am having a very hard time with finding one I like. So far the only ones I like are from Campfire Cirriculum and beautiful feet, but they are super relaxed.
@@ravenbird3014 Story of the World is actually secular. It of course has some Christian history in it, but it doesn't put much emphasis into it and does focus a lot on other beliefs, gods, etc, which is why a lot of Christians don't use it. 🙃
Thank you for this video! We have used TGTB years 1, 2, and 3 so far and will be using year 4 this coming year. We love it!! However I am looking for something new for the following year. I've been looking at Story of the World, but didn't realize it has an old earth focus. So that's out! I'm now looking at Masterbooks after you showed it. It checks all my boxes! 💜
I know this is an old video but I’m researching History to use for this fall 22-23. I was thinking of using story of the world but after seeing your review and letting me know it was old world theology that nixed that one. And it looks dry. I really like color curriculum. So I’m thinking of using Masterbooks but my question is what do you recommend starting with? My twins are going into 3rd grade and haven’t done a formal history curriculum yet. Should I start with the my story series (level 1 or 2?) or would it be fine to start with the America’s story series?
I'm not really sure to be honest. I'd recommend going to the masterbooks website and seeing which one they have for that specific grade. They are all laid out by grades on there to make it easy.
I have a 1st & 2nd grader. Would Doing My Story 1 be ok to do with both of them? And do you think that is enough? Or should I do something else for a History for them as well? This is the first year I'm adding something MORE than LA, Math, Writing, and Science 1 time a week. But they have really been interested in Geography so they do know a lot that I taught them just from review and youtube videos, but I want a curriculum this year... but wondering if I should add History as well or if this has "enough" history in it for a 1st and 2nd grader.
I’d say start with my story because it’s first grade and helps them understand the world around them. That’s important because how can they understand history of places they’ve never been?
My Story would be perfect for a 1st and 2nd grader. If you want to use Master Books Science, I would either do the new Adventures in Creation book 1 or the God's Design for Life Beginners. The Math Lessons for a Living Education and Language Lessons for a Living Education are both excellent for math and language arts. Love Master Books. They are really well thought out and a delight to use.
With master books how involved are you as the teacher? I am considering a highschool science from them, but was holding off because I want to be sure that my student can work independently. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and experience!
I think that really depends on the student and their personal level. There is a lot of independent work. For my 7th grade, I basically just show him his assignment, and he's off on his own. Not every child will be the same, but my son is pretty average and he enjoys being able to do it on his own.
We never did My Story 1, I went straight to 2. I don't know if MB would recommend that or not , but that's what we did and there wasn't a problem at all.
My Story books are independent of each other. You do not need to do 1 prior to 2. But as with any curriculum, it is a tool and you use how you want. You could do both in one year for older students, you could do 1 before 2, 2 before 1 or not do one or the other at all. Master Books is a very flexible curriculum.
Currently shopping around for our 2021-22 History and this was so helpful! Thank you! 💛
We love master books. We went from abeka to BJU to masterbooks. And I think this is definitely the curriculum for us.
Oh man, we used Story of the World and gave up with it early on! We are looking at MB for the coming school year!! Thanks for sharing! 💜
We didn't use it long either. It wasn't for us, but I know a lot of moms use and love it. MB is more our style!
The Chapter Review in ABeka is slowly assigned as homework over the course of the chapter. That way it isn't so overwhelming for the students.
Thank you for helping me finally make my choice : ) Going to do 8th grade World's Story
I can't decide between Notgrass and Master Books 😫 the struggle is real
Thank you for this great review. Very helpful!
Master books looks more interesting than others. Thanks for this info!
This was wonderful! My daughter was bored with Story of the world & TGTB as well, I am planning on using America’s Story 🤩
New sub here and fellow homeschool mama TH-camr! Great video! I found you because I'm currently researching our US History for next year ;)
I follow you & I love seeing you tubers being kind & supportive of other you tubers.. ❤️

Thank you for sharing MasterBooks history. We are MB users and can’t wait to start history this year
We really like MB! My kids have had such a great time using their history curriculum.
Has anyone compared Alpha and Omega (LifePac) to Master Books? Those are the two I am considering. Thank you!
We love MB and AS 1 has been our favorite this year, looking forward to AS2 and WS this coming school year
It definitely looks like a lot of fun!
Great review! Thank you 😀
What do you use for history now?

Ahh! Abeka takes me straight back to school. And history always bored me. Won’t be picking that one.
May I know your umbrella school? I'm actually looking for one for the coming school year. Thank you.
Have you tried Beautiful Feet History? Interested in your thoughts on that?
We have Master Books Americas Story. Yes wonderful stories but it's a bit comfusing to me. Are there tests? Thank you.
The description says TGTB, was that curriculum missed??
I want to partner lessons with lapbooks, do you know of any with the master books curriculum?

@@popehj thank you ❤
Do you like the master books history better than My Father's World?
I agree about Abeka being very school-like. I believe it was even written for Christian schools before homeschool was even an idea
Yes, I think I read that the company started in private schools.
I went to a small Christian school in the 80s and we used Abeka
Thank you for your video
Thank you for sharing.
I have a 2nd grader, should I get My Story 1 or 2 for her?

@@mandy-maltz Thank you for your response! I guess the words "Teacher's Guide" scared me. 🙂
What’s an umbrella school ?
Did start with my story 2? I'm debating if we can skip my story 1 and go straight to 2?

just what I needed to see, thanks!
Does My Story focus a lot on US history? We're from Canada, so I'm hoping it will work for us.
My Story 2 focuses on different countries. I'm not sure about My Story 1 (though I imagine it's the same).
