Good work! Thank you so much for the video! Just seeing something done once can make your life sooooi much easier. In the future, try to only use throttle body cleaner on your intake. Carb choke can take the plating off of many newer vehicle butterfly valves.
Thank you very much for this video the way it looked I thought I was going to have to pull the head gasket off. I do not like working on front wheel drive vehicles
I hate working on vehicles period. Hats off to you. Watching the vid was way better than painting. You had me a little worried about ya ,pro pain lantern under the vehicle a d dam a blow tourch in the engine ,you only had one more strike so to speak..
That slot is a joke you still have to pull the bolts I usually take and grind an angle on the housing put the bolt in then you can slide the housing on with the Bolton place hopefully that helps that helps somebody I'm about to do one of these for a customer I charge $150 to do them
I would never use torch like that - too dangerous! Could've ignited fuel lines! You can get piece of hose at parts store. Also - start up engine with hood still open so you can check for leaks - I keep radiator cap off to monitor coolant level - it usually will need more coolant added because air is trapped in system (air escapes thru opened radiator cap). Some bolts are a real pain to reach - especially on newer cars! Sorry if I seemed a lil' pissy...just wanted to present some helpful advice...ya'll take care...enjoyed the video! (I do all repairs on my vehicles including engine /trans rebuilding - done it for 30+ years). 😊👍🇺🇸
Thank you. I just busted out laughing again thinking about it. They sure didn't make these Buick thermostats easy to get to. Im doing one myself. Have to remove half the top end lol. Thanks again I needed that.
A heat gun would be better than a flame torch when working around fuel systems. But actually, neither method should be used around fuel. You scared me for a moment. I thought you were going to have an explosion. Good video otherwise.
I loosened that bolt, had to go almost to the last thread to get the pipe out, when I tried to yank it out, the bolt popped out, just like the vid. I just gave up and left it out. F$&@ it...
Whew the genius of that shrink tube trick followed immediately by a scary lack of a heat gun lol

Good to know, thx!

Helped a lot for the job 😃🤣. Thanks.
Thanks for the video. I'm about to attempt this on a 2007 Pontiac Montana.
I just did one on a buick..and it was literally 5 minutes!.. 2 bolts on the top..good luck
@@Homesteadhow like Buicks then. Pontiacs.... Not so much
@@Homesteadhow why oh why with constant head bobble while contorting my hands in ways they don't move...
How are you and family ? Hope Lilly is doing Good !! Hey What ever happen to the bucket truck that we were talking about ?? Thanks
Shouldn't you burn the air out bleeder valves?
Well fits
Awesome man appreciate that
Dude thank you
Any ideas on why I don't get heat in 06 uplander?
Thank you for your video 👍👍👍

How to I push hose away without breaking it so I can get to thermostat
Fuel is sealed
So if my chevy uplander lost heat to just the front would it be just my front heater core ?
thanks man that helps a alot i have same issue 2005 uplander does even heat the car inside
I laughed so hard when you said this is when I blow up my car.
Thank you. I just busted out laughing again thinking about it. They sure didn't make these Buick thermostats easy to get to. Im doing one myself. Have to remove half the top end lol. Thanks again I needed that.
You have to take the bolt out the thermostat is in the way just easier to completely remove
Yes because you cant remove the housing with the bolt still in there even with the notch.
How did he put it back in with the bolt already there?
Omg he’s not kidding
That lower bolt is what turns this from a 10 minute job into a 2 hour job.
Not fun
Not IMPOSSIBLE
But not fun
I bought a whole van for parts paid 200 for it it had no title and needed fuel injector and someone cut the catalytic converter off of it
Nice Buy!
How did that shrink tube hold up?
Still on there!!
@@Homesteadhow awesome. My mom has an uplander needing the thermostat replaced. Thanks for the video. Regards.
It's nice to work on your vehicle. The way they are made now you need a PHD in engineering to fix.
What idiot put the thermostat there?! Anyway, the first video I saw on this thermostat swap did it from underneath! I may try it your way.
Is this the 3.5 or 3.9?
3.5
I'm having a issue with the heat shield . I got everything apart but can't get the thermostat housing back over the thermostat
Same process on a 05?
Yes

There wasn't even a thermostat changed in this video

Never fails! I feel your pain!
