Heller were at the top of their game from the mid 70s to the early 80s. I've got a lot of their kits in the stash and there's hardly any I don't like. I bought the Heller Bloch 210 recently in the latest (German owned) box. For a 70s kit, it was a crisp and flash free as any new kit I've seen and very detailed for the time. Hope to see some more Heller on the channel soon.

Built this one and their Tunnan, Lansen, Draken, Viggen, Safir and I'm hellbent on getting them all again to build....just recently picked up the Viggen the other day!
Heller's Draken is a right pain in the tailpipe to find!

    Hey John,
    Can only repeat myself.
Very comprehensive good in box review with a lot of information about the kit as well as the history.

The heller kit is still a great choice for a J21A. The Special hobby kits have better interior detail, recessed panel lines and the knobby tires the real aircraft has. But the Heller offering is definetly not obsolete compared to the newer SH kit. Broplan of Poland has produced a vacuform conversion kit to make a J12R out of the Heller kit. Since Special Hobby has since come out with a J21R the Broplan conversion is not very relevant anymore.
Sadly Pilot Replicas are no longer in business, so the exellent 1/48 scale J21A kit is sold out pretty much everywhere, and all but impossible to find.
AA models vacuform kits in general (AA stands for Arne Anderson i think) are very crude, and are best to be avoided (unless you collect vac kits).

I can't see the colour police kicking in your front door whatever you choose for the colours, but if going the Humbrol route I'd probably use 87 for the undersurfaces and 116 for the uppers.
