Is it common to use a belt to redirect the direction of power. In Lawn Service equipment i have seen the direction can be turned 90 degrees in small applications. I am interested in powering a boat with a vertical shaft air cooled motor. (17.5 -27 HP ) Turning the driven 97 degrees to meet the out put marine transmission and its 7 degree downward angle of the propeller. Not intended for high speeds maybe 800- 1800RPM continuous duty. The routing of air and cooling makes a vertical shaft my selected choice and no one has done it before.
