They've pretty much become the third badass family of the series. First there was just the Sun family, then Guan Yu's kids came in, then Sima Yi's. I wonder if there's a 4th one in the works...
+God Of Urging Cao Cao's many, many, many, many other children. Seriously, his family tree is HUGE. (Cao Cao fucked a lot of bitches is what I'm saying here.)
Rose Arias-Salgado True but Cao's family were more formal and ambitious than caring to influence each other's. However, Wu's first goal was to retake the land of the Sun family and protect them, Guan's family were ready to sacrifice each other's for the sake of the other family members to live peacefully and Sima's family merged the care and ambition together to give a mixed characteristics that led to a beautiful success from the father to his sons. If any family that I am interested on is the Yuan Family, yeah the nobility is on its threshold with them but it would be interesting to show how the father influenced his sons, how his sons dealt with the Yuan family after their father's death and what's most interesting is to see their conflict when they fought Cao Pi at a late age.
It's funny how the games paint Sima Zhao as a lazy layabout who is fundamentally nice when he was pretty much the worst tyrant among the Jin emperors. Some of the stuff Sima Zhao historically did makes even Dong Zhuo and Cao Pi look like saints... 🌚
Ehhh not really. Sima Zhao was ruthless yes but Dong Zhuo was way worse and the likes of Jia Nanfeng and the eight princes (minus sima ai and liang) trumps him at this
Being lazy does kind of make you a tyrant though. People are ruthless and with good reason. Cao Cao was ruthless. Sima Zhao's approch was flawed. As was Cao Cao's (his kindgom eats itself from the inside. That's flawed). It's not becuase they were ruthless. Being ruthless get results when done honestly. It's that they both were ignorant of certain matters. Cao Cao for example saw chaos as the problem. What if it's the solution? Chaos and destruction are two very different things. If chaos is a branch then hypocrisy is the roots. Sun Ce was even told this in the Wu campaign. Each kingdom is making the same old mistake. "See threat. Fight. Spread chaos pretending you have the answers." It's a losing war. That never ends. The only way to win is not to play that game. Maybe Sima Zhao has a point then. You're the ones playing that game. He just wants to live life.
Many guy see Sima clan as the evil clan. However, I think they are among the most kindness leaders of China history. See, they conquered all Wei, Shu, Wu, and they leave these emperor live in peace. In many other dynasties, the defeated Leader usually be killed, or be spared and died just several year later " because the sickness".
Sima Yi laughs and degrades someone before having them executed. The fact that the Jin dynasty didn't endure means the Sima clan either were too weak (lacking ambition even if they have brains) or learned to live for more then pointless borders and nations (make it about yourselves instead of the world).
Conrado Javier So true, at least they could always cover his part of the story when he defeated Wu for good and end the story with Jin Dynasty's beginning but only this time while playing rather than seeing him on cutscenes.
Man when I first played dynasty warriors I was divided between wu and shu to win. But after playing. Sima Yi fooled everybody. That guy knows how to manipulate to get what he wants. Awesome game. I feel if zhuge liang hadn't died, he could have halted his plans. I liked their rivalry of the mind and strategy.
+Rose Arias-Salgado Histrionically though, it's the other way around. And yet both Zhongda (Sima Yi) and Kongming (Zhuge Liang) never actually had anything to do with each other. Also, Ziyuan (Sima Shi) is damn awesome :3
At first I was the same way. Then I noticed that the dialogue between those two is the source of about 70 percent of my laughter while playing the game. Especially, those parts where he's launching into lectures on how to be a proper villain and she keeps reminding him to watch it (possibly because he's more benign in this game despite still having his old supervillain mannerisms) during the mission they're playable during the hypothetical route. He's all like "You fool! This is no way to stage a coup!" and she goes "Honey, what did the doctor say about evil?", *sighs* "That more than a five of bouts of maniacal laughter's worth a day is bad for my heart condition...".
Trust me. A firm woman holding the leash is exactly what the ruthless need. If the ruthless aren't kept in check then they can lash out. I think Sima Yi knows this (he is ruthless btw). So the relationship dynamic is perfect. That little foot tap from his wife is priceless. She was also quite correct when she said the sons will never grow if they are coddled. Honest. Logical. Able to make a point with actions to nail it home. Sima Yi had to yield to the truth. As do we all. Otherwise it only leads to lies and despair.
This is how the Jin Dynasty should've started (I firmly believe that the Hypothetical Success Scenarios & the "What If" victory cutscenes would have resulted in a greater China in those days). Sima Yan, son of Sima Zhao, did do some good things in his reign...but he also earned a not-so-great reputation due to his obsession with courtesans & being too kind to the corrupt. If I were Sima Yan, I would try to genuinely perform deeds beneficial to China in public, and more discreetly pursue the obsession (assuming such a thing said about him in the records is even true)...but I would also order the swift execution of those who'd undermine my rule trying to get away with corruption. ^ (Edit): Similarly with his son, Sima Zhong. Jia Nanfeng & other corrupt officials should've been quickly executed.
Ever since I played DW7, I never really took interest in Jin, it’s basically an extension of Wei and in the game it is a bridge to the creation of Jin itself, but then the what if came out and how I adore Sima Shi, everything about his personality clicks with me and how unfortunate it is that his command was cut short after 4 years due to his illness, this what If shows that if anyone was to be Jin’s first emperor, it is him for sure. But then again, the way DW portrayed Sima Zhao as careless and borderline lazy all the time, being force to command after losing both his father and his older brother made him into a fine grand commander. Through and through, I love Jin now
Sad that Zhang Chunhua's biggest role in the game is what actually damages her (being Sima Yi's dominant wife). Alone or with Yuanji, she's actually really great.
@Anonymous Bacon you are so right! out of all the fathers. Sima yi and sun jian are neck an neck to best father roll! Sima yi knows how to be childish but very cunning and genius! and not to mention he knows how to be cute and funny too. the laugh scene between shir and him (ultimate bonding moment) zhao and chunhua were like wtf?? and then shes like. "I'm surrounded by two IDIOTS.." she reminds me of my mom! XD
But during the events of DW8 and 7 it is established that Jin is still a faction under Wei. Is there an event indicating Sima Yi's officially severing ties with Wei to establish his break away faction Jin?
Think of Jin in the same way you think of Wei (pre Cao Pi), while Cao Cao was conquering territories and spreading his influence it was all “in the name of the Han”. It wasn’t until Cao Pi that Wei eclipsed the Han and became a ruling dynasty. So all of Cao Cao’s officers were by all technically, subjects of the Han, but the truth is they served Cao Cao, thus served Wei. In that same vein, the Jin dynasty (up until Sima Yan) are by all technical definitions subjects of Wei, but in actuality, serve to advance the interests of the Sima Clan, thus they aided in the establishment of Jin.
Xslasher75 Jia Chong was one of the people who influenced Sima Zhao before becoming an emperor and the scene was there to show that Sima Zhao is now ready to lead his army and the scene wanted to also show that Sima Zhao realized Jia Chong's words after a long time.
Oh my god.... WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO SIMA YI???!!?!?!??! He's too nice now.... He was my favorite with his awesome laughs and cool crimson voice, now he's like sick and weak... He better be the only one that had that voice change...
Why do people think Sima Yi has a new voice actor? I mean, yes, he sounds somewhat different, but I don't see how you can miss that it's the same person.
I love how both Zhao and his mom look vaguely embarrassed during the laugh scene.
+God Of Urging She's really delightful.
God Of Urging I love Zhang chunhua
Love how all Yuanji has to do at 0:10 is poke Zhao and he puts his hands down. Nicely adds to the scene.
Hahaha well looked
They both look cute
😯😐....9k9
9k9ko9k9k
That's why I consider 8 to be the best story wise. It has all the little details.
It's the small things in life
People, Sima Yi's voice actor changed because his previous one died. Don't fuss about it, as long as he still goes "Mwahahaha" it's all good.
Nikki Brewer They have actually made a great job with the replacement, I can barely see any difference on the sound of both actors :)
Do you mean the one from DW6 or what?
Genada Bhikudhama Japanese voice actor of Sima Yi died after DW8. Not sure what the original comment meant though.
That's the japanese voice actor of Sima Yi
9:14. Muahahahaha. Yup I know..
Sima Shi & Sima Yi: Laugh maniacally
Sima Zhao: ugh I'm realated to these two
Zhang Chunhua: oh boy like father like son
Sima Shi: *gets shot in eye and dies*
Xiahou Dun: Whut?
is that accurate?
Xiahou Dun : pathetic
Zhang Chunhua is the highlight of Jin. The most iconic thing about her is the Chunhua Facepalm at 9:36..
They've pretty much become the third badass family of the series. First there was just the Sun family, then Guan Yu's kids came in, then Sima Yi's. I wonder if there's a 4th one in the works...
Maybe if they ever get around to introducing Lu Lingqi's mother...
+God Of Urging Cao Cao's many, many, many, many other children. Seriously, his family tree is HUGE.

I hope so
I feel both Yi and Shi's laughs were very awesome...!

Sima Yi and Sima Shi, like father like son. Sima Zhao and Zhang Chunhua, like mother like son.
Lol
that Chunhua facepalm tho :))
Well, all of his children have that evil laugh lol

They are viewed poorly because the Jin Dynasty was one of the worst in terms of prosperity. It lasted less time than any Dynasty before or after it.

Sima Yi laughs and degrades someone before having them executed. 3:55 might be the best cutscene in the game. It reminds me of the cutscene back in 5 with Lu Xun reflecting on Zhou Yu and Lu Meng.
if Sima Yan's Grandpa, Grandma, Uncle, Mom, & Dad are Playable, 9 should add him to the Roster.
Conrado Javier So true, at least they could always cover his part of the story when he defeated Wu for good and end the story with Jin Dynasty's beginning but only this time while playing rather than seeing him on cutscenes.
what a good looking family
Sima family is like the sweetest (?) yet awkward family lol
lol Sima Yi looks like afraid of his wife
Yes she grabs him by the neck due to his obsession to meat buns
No, I learned everything I know from observing your genius

It's called being a family man.
Zhang Chunhua is Fucking EPIC! xD
yuanji is my favorite
Kinda wished they also had the ending from dw7 when Jin was formed by Sima Yan
Look like mamma know how to strike fear to the family
Dual evil laughing session! It's almost as though they're joking around with the whole Sima family laugh. lol
Love this family Huge fan of Jin dynasty
Sima Yi is afraid of his wife.
There mom is awesome
I used to call Zhang Chunhua chihuahua XD
PJW KB mwahahahaha me too
PJW KB same with bao sanniang shananing
Gotta love how she facepalms over their laugh.

sima yi acts more like a mother than a father

Why Sima Zhao and Zhang Chunhua didn't laugh? They both Should Laugh with Sima yi and Sima shi. lol :v
Zhang Chunhua has Evil smile instead! :D
Very well said. :D
finally she SMILE lol
I think I liked number 7's ending better. The one where Sima Zhou and Yuanji's Son overthrows everything and succsessfully becomes emperor of china.
I was really worried when he collapsed
I love reading all these vocal critics they seem to know sooooo much about voice acting do you mean giving me some pointers?
Can you please upload the other cutscenes

Is there a vid of all cutscenes of Shu and Wu? if not can u plz make them?

It didn't change. Kyle Herbert just sounds a little different.
wait wait wait. So I thought the brother died???? Then he came back....? I thought he died in the early scenes.
DW8 has the option to unlock hypothetical scenarios. Like "What if that guy hadn't died in that battle." and so on.
is this gonna come out for PC ?
according to wikipedia just XBOX 360 and PS3
too bad this time the ending did not show the actual ending of the history like in 7. Only the What IF ending show shi conquer the whole china
