    when it comes loose it is good to replace it with a longer bolt with a stopper in the middle

    What code did you have? You had a scanner could have include that. I have a p0015 don't know to replace this one or there ones by the valve cover gasket

    • @NeffF
      @NeffF  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That would most likely be cam position sensor. Those are located directly on the valve cover. There are 2 of them. One for intake one for exhaust. Both are one bolt 8MM and slide right in.

      @NeffF  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t remember what code I had. But p0015 is timing related to cam position. Usually just a bad sensor. If not your timing may actually be off.

    thanks for the video!! Question, I have a half engine and code p1338, do you happen to know what could be the issue? thanks in advance!

    • @NeffF
      @NeffF  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Half engine means limp mode. Code P1338 has to do with your camshaft position sensor. It’s usually a bad sensor. It’s usually one, try swapping out one of the cam sensors with the other, move the exhaust one to the intake. If neither works replace both cam sensors. If that doesn’t fix it it usually means your timing is off, some electrical issue. How many miles are on your vehicle?

    • @NeffF
      @NeffF  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Your car is in limp mode that usually happens when timing jumps or is way off, try changing your cam position sensors

      @@NeffF thanks for your help. I have 155K miles. I will change the sensors and hopefully it resolves the issue.

      @@Mao4124 Yeah that sounds about right, probably about time to change them out if they havent been changed yet.

    Nice Video, noticed the replacements looked different to the originals on the part that is internal will this not affect oil flow/pressure at all, I have a Cooper s R56, thanks.

    • @NeffF
      @NeffF  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      No as I mentioned in vídeo they are the same exact part, OEM replacement and no they will not. VANOS solenoid is for Variable valve timing. The reason they look different is due to normal wear and tear. And part is the same for N12-N18 engines

    • @NeffF
      @NeffF  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is a separate solenoid to regulate pressure, it is part of the oil pump assembly

    What type of oil did you use to coat the Solenoid before putting the new part back in?

    • @NeffF
      @NeffF  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Motor oil. I believe I said it in the video too. Same oil that is changed when doing an oil service.
