Finding this guy was my most "wtf" moment I had in the game so far. Was merely trying to find the map, got lost, went up, and then suddenly was being eaten alive by a maw of lightning.

Yea I did the same. Just found dragon pit and I ended up on top of mountain with OP dragon. Didn’t even know this is a side quest

Text leaks show he betrayed our lord and saviour Plasci, attacked him and the battle resulted in the brutal injuries both sustained, he then fled and was the reason for the lesser dragons existence

@@masterofcolddark6892Far as I am aware there is nothing to have suggested this to be the case. We know that the age of dragons was long before Marika became a god and that possibly the age of the crucible was in between. But it is possible there were other ages even between dragon and crucible.

Yeah, this goes hard. Also kinda cool that they added an NPC who can join you in the bossfight that has dialogue like Siegward of Catarina or Biorr of the Twin Fangs

It's an NPC called Igon you see him screaming on the way to dragon pit, it's hard to miss

The thing is that Placidusax is stronger lore wise but the actual game mechanics r pretty unfair against Placi. It definitely seems like Bayle would win.
@@anonisnoone6125 How? Based on the wounds, Bayle inflicted more damage.. 3 heads.. maybe he flee but it doesn't say much; the fact that he even had the power to flee and Placi didn't have the power to catch him kind of says they're almost even

He’s actually got 3 running up his back, I’m guessing that during their fight Plascidusaxs tried wrapping his heads around him like what King Ghidoera did in Godzilla king of the monsters
I love how how I can’t summon Igon for two seconds without getting hit with a stream of fire only to be killed immediately after I get up. This dlc has been so much fun

@@gangzilla5716 if I heard right, Bayle FLED fighting Placi, so while he did do in the Dragon Lord's heads, Placi's still probably stronger, especially seeing what Bayle's current body looks like(look at his broken right wing, the bone's sticking out while the left wing's just cut.
@@Urd-Vidansure he fled but I'm pretty sure cutting off multiple heads is a bigger injury than some torn up wings
@@themustardman219 fleeing also means he can't take on Placi. If he could win, why can't he finish the job? Sure he took his heads, but he still has two. Plus, a dragon's best advantage is flight.

This is the best dragon fight FromSoftware has made. The buildup to his fight as you climb the mountain, with all of the red lighting raging around the peak. The 2nd phase of his fight where his music starts kicking in.
Not Midir nor Placidusax can top him now.

I don't like elden ring, but this boss looks gorgeous. He has buildup, hype, pathos. Above that, he looks like Balrog and has a great design. It likes if Mohg was a dragon

@@Ultradocker The reason I prefer this boss fight is I much more enjoy dodging large single attacks than multi hit combos with mixups where you can never tell when it will end. (i.e. Rellana) Bayle has clear punish windows and rewards proper positioning and timing. Once you get the fight down all his moves have very clear timings on when to dodge. Aoe spam does in fact suck if you plan on tanking every single attack, so I can see why this fight might not be fun if you’re more of a sword and shield player or dislike dodging moves.
Bayle killed me like 50-60 times but I finally got him 🙌

This dragon means business man, if u look closely, u can see that he has the other 2 (maybe 3) heads of lord Placidusax himself on his neck. If he was the reason placi lost his heads then u know Bayle is no joke…

Man I gotta say this is the hardest boss I’ve faced yet, he was quite the challenge for me but I took him down. And I have to say he’s the best dragon from software has given us. everything about his design and his Bossfight in general is brutally amazing. Just the way he attacks alone really sells this boss for me, and as he flails, and pounds his broken limbs towards you in almost a desperate attempt to completely annihilate your existence is just so cool. Almost all of his limbs are missing besides one leg and he still manages to put up An amazing fight really tells you how powerful he is especially since he thought the dragon lord himself and debatably won. And especially when he enters his second phase and starts flying around the arena. Raining hellfire down at you before crashing into the ground at mock speed and showcasing even more amazing attacks he has It’s just phenomenal.

Fearsome Darkeater Midir has evolved!
I, with sound mind and body, dethrone Midir as my personal top dragon in the souls series, and happily place Bayle at the top spot. I LOVE this fight. The attacks, the lore, the absolute HATRED Igon has for Bayle, the music, and Jesus bike riding Christ that second phase! 20/10

All previous commenters have yet to fight this monstrosity. Truly the worst experience of the DLC so far. Cool, but not being able to attack while getting just half healthed every attack , not cool. So called "dragon hunter" just yells and throws shit.

You have to kill the Jagged Peak Drake, then talk to Igon and get his furled finger.

Was this guy once human? his wings look really deformed, and yet he can breathe a mix of fire and lightning, and has a secondary pair of wings that enable flight. If that case is true, then he might be the closet a human has gotten to becoming a full dragon.
I believe his lore is he betrayed, fought, and fled from Lord Placi. His wings were ripped off. He also has one of Placi's head burrowed into his kneck

As far from it as imaginable- he's effectively the Dark Lord of the Dragons, even older than Placidusax. The whole system of dragon communion was created as a means to hunt him down and exterminate his offspring with the help of humans.

@@andys3279 You are being kinda crazy, though. 2 Malenia's that get healed after every strike is literally an impossible boss fight. This is possible, just very hard. I just beat it after some 60+ tries. His first moveset is not that bad to get down, the second moveset goes crazy; the key is that a lot of his attacks are NOT safe to reply in kind.
The best one I used to get some hits in is when he is doing like a 3 hit combo and you get under him. I also used Maliketh's Blade Blade to quickly whittle down health in those key moments.
He's definitely higher than Malenia in difficulty, but as long as you know what you're doing; you got this.
